    It’s almost like a full scale model kit! Paint the pieces and put it together. 😂
    Do you plan to install the wiper linkage before the steering column? Might make things easier?
    Great work Bill, I couldn’t do it any better!

      The wiper linkage is in except for the cable that slips into the tubes. All of that is a long way from the route of the column, so it should be good!

    Great seeing a new video. Nice to see front suspension in place. Thanks Bill and sorry about your finger!

    Good video! Sorry about the Tri 5 Rash on your finger! ;) My rash involved a twisted wire wheel on a hand grinder, my shirt front and my belly! Tetanus shot, antibiotics, and lots of bandages. :) Next time I bet I remember to wear my leather shop apron!! :)

      Oh, and I keep my wedding band on my key chain! 52 years last week! ;)

      My wife has given me permission to wear a silicone band when needed. But I've had that band on for over 30 years. If not for my knuckle still being swollen (it likely will never be the size and shape that it was!) I'd have already fixed it and resumed wearing one.

    Boudreaux's on Metairie Rd, can fix that ring up nicely. They do great work.

      Believe it or not, that's where I was planning to go! I need to let my finger heal first so that they can size it properly...

    Bill I know the struggle as I am restoring in 1950 Plymouth. Pain seems to be part of it! I'm in my second year...

      This one was more painful than anything else I've done while working on Christine!

    I originally made my power steering box from the 605 boxcutting a couple of teeth and using the lower part of the original box ... but may get one like yours when the time comes ... looks like you have the baerings a little tight ... they usualy say to spin the rotor while tightening till snug then back to the nearest keyhole ... don't worry about the finger ... you have nine more ...

      The threads on that nut are a little marred. It was tough getting it on the whole length. The other side was easier.

    Christine's looking good Bill! I have mine driving so we'll with the stock steering setup. I'm hesitant to change anything. Been toying with the 500 box idea for along time. Be interesting to hear your thoughts when it's back on the road. Sorry to hear about the finger. Will make the first drive all the more sweeter!!👍

      My steering box was incredibly loose and it was really difficult to park, having to horse the wheel along with feathering the clutch. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this works out!

    Good video. Slap some Neosporin on that finger.

    My ‘55 is also currently a 3-speed/manual car and will be getting this same power steering (and transmission!) conversion. Hope the body comes off today so I can get to work on the chassis. Great video{

      That's a big step! I'm going to be curious to see how the bigger box affects the space for my clutch linkage and headers.

      This was my first experience with them, but I'm liking what I see so far! I am a big fan of Krylon, but I don't know what happened to their market. Seems like all everyone has is Rustoleum, and I'm not big on their stuff...

    What is the rag joint part number you are going to order. I'm doing a 56 rebuild myself and all of your videos have been very helpful!

    Great video! I'm getting ready to install the same brake kit on my car and was thinking about power steering. Did you modify your steering column? If so do you have any video?

    • @RestoringChristine1956
      @RestoringChristine1956  4 місяці тому +1

      My steering column is an aftermarket tilt that's similar to Ididit, and it was already modified and in the car when I got it. The rag joint is the big thing. Before, it was just a coupler. I won't be putting the steering column in for a couple of weeks.

    Did you use the original Front Left Inner Tie Rod End or did you change it to one for Power Steering? I've read that the stock manual tie rod end won't work with power steering.

    • @RestoringChristine1956
      @RestoringChristine1956  Місяць тому

      I have the same tie-rods that I've always had, but I haven't really run it through its paces yet. It's all connected and seems to be OK. Are you sure it's not the pittman arm you're thinking?
