- If you're looking for an exploded view, an assembly diagram, or anything that explains how the windows, regulators, glasses, and channels mount in a 1955-1957 tri-five Chevy, in Episode 116, we show you how all of that is put together. And we also remove and replace worn-out plastic regulator rollers as well as mount our door glass into new window channels using window assembly tape.

Just the kind of video guys need. A complete lay out of a project that is not done very well in any other book or online. I once painted a white Mercedes green in a little garage with the old Binks 2001, about 10 years ago, and I still have green all over tools so I'm with you on the pink mist. You also made me think of MythBusters when they hit a hammer on a hammer folks went crazy about that can cause a hammer to blow up and it'll kill ya! I could hear crows in the background (you hear them in movies before someone gets it) and I thought you may not make it to the end! Very good information & video. Bobby

Cannot thank you enough for all your time and effort for making these. Us fellow tri-5 guy followers are forever in-debt to you. I also thank your wife for being patient while you do this! She is awesome too. My wife and I just hit 20 years and I have to go multiple weeks sometimes without stepping foot in garage, I promised family and home needs to be most important. Like you said in some of the sheet metal videos, just be consistent and not give up, “creep-up on it.” 😎 Thank you again guys!

Believe it or not, I had to go back to this video myself to get it right! LOL! I just finished the driver's side and, now that I know what I'm doing, I can look like an expert on the passenger's side!
I don’t know how you have time to do everything. You work on the 56, compose the video, edit, post it and then you reply to the comments. What is the percentage of your time that is spent on the four previous mentioned subjects? You also have life to deal with. What are you going to do with all your time once you are done, that day will come? Keep up the good work.
Very good question! I started yesterday at about 11, finished at 4, and had the video edited by 7. This morning, I took 1 to 2 hours to upload, edit all of the descriptions and links, and create the thumbnail. I answered about 2 weeks' worth of comments in about 45 minutes. Whatever that adds up to. But, I enjoy it. Sundays are reserved for house and family.
I had issues with my new glass and tracks. I used gasket maker in from a tube. Worked good. 56 coming along good.
There are so many ways to make it work, you just have to be resourceful!

Hairspray on the gasket and window. The seam sealer in the track just before you put the glass in the track. Then dry and install.
Now THAT's being resourceful!
I restored my 55 in 2009 I know the Stress and Anxiety that you must have been feeling when you realize you had to hit the channel onto the Glass with a mallet good job you didn't break the glass like I did keep up she is going to look good
You know, I didn't really think about it! There was so much cushion in between, with the rubber mallet, the mastic, and that rubberized tape. It still went on a bit easy. If I had to fight it, I might have puckered! LOL!
Very informative! Thanks a bunch!! I have all mine out and boxed up. I labeled them with a paint stick as I took them out because I knew it was going to be a long time until I put them back in. Sure glad you took the time to show us how it all fits back together! All my side windows are cracked, so I have to order a set of new windows. :)
And then today, I accidentally cracked one of the vent windows... boooooo! Glad this was helpful!

Bull I also Used velcro on window Chanel's 1' sell adhesive . Helps stop rattles and glass runs smool
Thanks for sharing Bill.i found you can order the channel mounting material in different thicknesses.problem is we dont know ahead of time what to order til your in the middle of the job.
Before I ever handled this stuff, I asked the guy at Woody's what it really was and it sounded like peel-and-seal flashing material but without the one side being coated. So I skipped out on the kit that they sell (which they were out of anyway). Then I ran into this "tape" from H&H. It's a LOT cheaper and did the trick. I did end up finishing all the windows with another hour's worth of work and they came out nice.
Cannot believe your not installing new glass.
All of the glass is in really good shape except for the one that's broken. But I will say that the replacement glass that I got is tempered, where everything else is safety glass. Everything next to one another all looks uniform.
I remember doing this on both my old cars. Boy those tracks were rusted! Nice video Bill. Will you be installing the plates on the door openings! Mine were missing so I fabbed some up.
If you're referring to the blanks that cover the access openings, I'm pretty sure that I have those in storage.

Bill I used white vinegar too clean window regulaters and slides loosens up rollers and gears .

Good to know! One thing I didn't mention is that I plan to grease everything up when I assemble and I was thinking about using white lithium. I don't want to use axle grease or peanut-butter. There's probably a good material out there that I need to find.
What ... no power windows??? ... having a 150 model my rear are stationary ... I ordered tempered glass many years ago and haven't seen them for about as long ... same with the division bars and whisker strips ... be nice if I ever get that far ... keep on it ...
Christine was always power NUTHIN! It's manual shift, manual clutch, manual brakes, manual steering, manual windows... LOL! I did upgrade to manual DISC brakes a long time ago, getting rid of that single-cylinder master and in this project I'm adding power steering.
