Thank you for this lovely tutorial! I have just finished my shawl and I'm now making tassels for the corners. It's so lovely, and your tutorials are so clear and you're so kind in your teaching. Thank you very much! :D
Hey there ladies! Did you know that you can tap on the top right corner of the video to slow it down? Just tap the 3 dots, then tap playback speed. You will then choose your preferred speed. I usually choose 0.75 and that's perfect for me when I'm crocheting along. I hope this helps! Have a blessed day and happy crocheting!
Thank you Marly, I just finished this in an acrylic Carron Simply Soft. It turned out absolutely gorgeous, I consider myself an intermediate crocheter so now that I did this I'm going to do it again in a bamboo silk fingering weight yarn which I think will be absolutely fantastic and just drape perfectly.. you really give superb instructions and the pattern was easy to follow also...Blessings
I don't know if you will see this but now you have given me the perfect idea for the mulberry silk fingering weight yarn I have stashed and didn't know what to make with it 😊 So thanks for the idea!
I just finished the shawl Iowans easy to crochet with your video your instructions are clear and easy to fallow I hope to make some more things soon .thank you for your videos I would like to send you a photo of my shawl .
I absolutely LOVE working on this shawl! this is the 2nd shawl you've designed that I've done and I really enjoy working your patterns, your charted designs are very easy to follow. Thank you. I would love to work on a crocheted cardigan or sweater with you (I'm trying to build enough confidence but still timid about being successful). If you have a tutorial of one of your patterns please consider sharing it. Thanks for sharing your designs and experience with those of us who are still learning but desire to work some lacy patterns.
Hi. I just wanted to know if you could help me after row 9, do I repeat rows 7-9 12 more times and THEN do row 10-12 and finish off? Or do I do row 10-12 after row 9 and only AFTER row 12 I repeat 7-9 12 times and then finish off?
@@izkotractorgirl2041 After the first 9 rows, you repeat rows 7, 8, and 9 12 more times. When you have done that, you will have 45 rows. Then you do the final row. (Don't even think about rows 10 - 12. They are just the first repeat of rows 7 - 9. You'll continue with rows 13 - 15, 16 - 18, etc., until you have the 45 rows.)
I love this shawl,,, but I have no idea what to do after row 9!!! you put 5 doubles on each side , but to go back to row 7 how do you work for row 9 back to 7??
When you lay out the shawl showing the rows completed, especially as you get to row 7, you need to move the camera back because you can't see the top of the shawl. However, you are a very good teacher, explaining how rows and pattern repeats build on each other. I have paid for lessons on sites like Craftsy but I find your instructions better done & for FREE.
Now this is a Gorgeous Shawlette Marly! I'm going to attempt to make this along with your Tutorial very soon! I love the Purple color & they way it looks after blocking, Stunning! I learn by Visually seeing it done. I'm not an expert, but if you could Please, go just a little bit slower when making your tutorials it would help so much. I Appreciate your Gift of Crocheting & Sharing with us very much! Thank you, Renee
Such a beautiful pattern, but I am totally lost and confused as to when I start the pineapple and the cluster! :( I really want to make this shawl! I am trying to follow the diagram, but again, unsure what to do as it grows!
get the pattern from red heart then watch the video. It gets easier when you see the written pattern. This video is helpful however it is confusing because she gives so many other tid bits along the way.
I have a question about Gauge .... seems I can't achieved the right Gauge even after using needle size 5mm. Row 1-10 is it from the middle to the right and bottom to top 33 ×21.5 cm? Please help me I've been repeating for 6 times already 😭
Love this shawl and the video. I would like to make the shawl, but I'm allergic to wool. What other yarn do you suggest I use in order for this particular shawl to come out as nice as the one you made in this video? Thank you.
I love the shawl but got lost after row 9 when I started my second row 7. I know you explain it all in your video but because I was crocheting and watching what you were doing I was not really hearing everything you said so I would go back and listen over and over again and got all mixed up somehow, I thought I was an experienced crocheter but obviously I am not? If I post a picture of what I've done so far would you be able to see where I am going wrong?
Look at the chart. After row 9, the next 3 rows (10-12) are highlighted. Work those rows. They are just like 7-9 but might be easier to follow. The after row 12 do row 7-12 for the repeat.
Is there a printed pattern of this shawl? I enjoyed watching you but have trouble keeping up. I think it would help to be able to look at the printed pattern.
i like it so much ..but im like others ..i lost after raw 9 .. how can i start the raw 10 with these 5 stitches ..i repeated the video but i didnt get it.
Look at the chart. After row 9, the next 3 rows (10-12) are highlighted. Work those rows. They are just like 7-9 but might be easier to follow. The after row 12 do row 7-12 for the repeat.
Hi Marly Bird, it took me 2 tries and i have followed you and get it right. but since you did the finish row, i went back to the center spine and did a shell and then finished that row. you say to repeat it until it is as big as you want it to be, but my QUESTION is: as it grows do you need to add more than 5 stitches between shells and pinnapples. i am not sure how that works. please HELP. I love it so far.
As you keep increasing, the number of repeats increases. So as you follow along with the pattern, and you “repeat from *” the number of times you have to repeat will increases as well. Does that help?
You only have 3 chains between the shells and the pineapples throughout the entire pattern until you do the final row. That's the only one with 5 chains .
Look at the chart. After row 9, the next 3 rows (10-12) are highlighted. Work those rows. They are just like 7-9 but might be easier to follow. The after row 12 do row 7-12 for the repeat.
Okay I am totally lost-when I got done with row nine- I have a dbl ch 3 dbl at the beginning and end of that row (which is what you have us do in the video)-if we are supposed to repeat rows 7-9 this doesn't work because when you start row 7 there is a shell on each end. This is not the case the way you had us begin and end row 9. Are you sure there wasn't supposed to be a shell at the beginning and end of this row? Sorry to question the pro here but you can work to the middle of the shell when there is no shell at the ends. Trying to make this as a prayer shawl but I am completely lost at this point because row 9 doesn't look correct on the ends.
Look at the chart. After row 9, the next 3 rows (10-12) are highlighted. Work those rows. They are just like 7-9 but might be easier to follow since they show the stitches starting in the same side as your last row 9. Then, after row 12 do row 7-12 for the repeat. .
I looked at the written pattern and think I figured it out.I tried clicking the link in part on and it didn't work-but it worked on the second video. I can't read charts but thank you for responding so promptly.
I completely understand your confusion, and I'm wondering the same thing. The reason it's confusing is because on Row 5, we started that row with the chain 6 to increase (and ending in the ch 3, DC to increase the other side). Then on Row 6 we worked a shell into the DC-chain 3 space, then chain 3, then shell into the shell space.... ending the same way with a shell in the chain 6 of row 5. But now, even though the Row 8 increase was worked the same way as the Row 5 increase (ch 6, then shell into the shell space)... at Row 9 you want us to chain 6 AGAIN??? So we are supposed to start Row 8 AND Row 9 with chain 6?
Marly Bird I was looking at the 3 patterns for this on redheart.com, and I'm a bit confused. The blue one calls for 3 skeins and is about 10 inches smaller than the purple and grey one which calls for 4 skeins. However I read the patterns and the gauge and hook size and the amount of rows seem identical. So why Is the blue one coming out smaller than the other 2?
After spending over 5 hours working on this, I ended up frogging it after repeating 7-9 a couple times. I followed the pattern and repeat exactly, but mine came out looking more like "oranges" than pineapples. I wish I could have seen the FINISHED shawl at the beginning of the tutorial so I could see what I was getting into. The thumbnail alone was not enough. Not to mention mine came out more in a boomerang shape than yours. I don't know how you managed to get that straight top edge. I guess I will move along and try to find a more "traditional" looking pineapple shawl.
Look at the chart. After row 9, the next 3 rows (10-12) are highlighted. Work those rows. They are just like 7-9 but might be easier to follow. The after row 12 do row 7-12.

7: start 01:39 - center 04:57 - end 07:11
8: start 09:32 - center 12:12 - end 14:23
9: start 17:02 - center 19:42 - end 21:54

Hola excelente y bonito día, muy bonito y hermoso trabajo, por favor, muestrenos el SHAWL morado que trae la modelo, gracias.

Hello, I can't find where to go for the first part of this shawl of this video
PORFAVOR alguien que pueda explicarme en español? No se como continuar a partir de la vuelta número 9 ? Quiero hacer mi chal más grande

Hi can i use a size 3 yarn for this project
Yes. You will get a bigger shawl but you can do it.

+marjs29 you can choose a cotton yarn that is the same size (fingering weight) and use that. Just be sure to block it so the lace really opens up.
Thank you for answering my question so quickly. And thank you for the suggestion about blocking the shawl.

I'm getting confused. You keep calling the chain 5 spaces a chain 3 space when single crocheting....

Marly Bird thx marly .. i get it now after a few tries . doing it now.. thx for replying? can't wait for it to finish
I'm sorry, I meant to say Shawl!
Great, slow down when modeling I had to stop and rewind several times. Other than that I love it.
Marly, your camera angle makes it very hard to follow where you are placing your hook for each stitch you make. Could you please change the angle of the camera and/or move closer to your work to make it easier for us to follow you? Thank you.
I've done so many shawls, but this one is so difficult to follow up.
I’m sorry. Are you looking at the chart for extra help?
@@MarlyBird No, I did not but I won't give up since I like your pattern.
