Let's face it. Life is too short. What is the point of socking away your savings with the hope that "one day" you will buy your dream car? Tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us. "Someday" is not among the 7 days in the week. If not now, then when? Especially given the present climate with everything that has been going on in the world. I would not recommend 2020 to my worst enemies, and it's not even over yet!
So my point is live your life. It's prudent to let the brain make the decisions, but you have to go with your heart too. Speaking of which, what can give you more joy (if you are into cars), than owning one of these exotic cars that you can take out once in a while and let it roar?
In this video we are comparing head to head two of the exotic players that are still within the affordability range of the middle class, without going into the Ferrari-Lamborghini-McLaren stratosphere most of us are not destined to reach.

That's what I always say, friend! If you can't afford a Ferrari or a Lamborghini (let's face it, many of us will never sit in one), at least you owe it to yourself to own the closest thing to it: Maserati!

I have a 2006 GranSport 4.2 V8. It’s been missed with Larini decats, Tubi exhaust, Firmula Dynamics Drive by wire, ECU tune, lowering springs and beefier sway bars. This car is an animal…for how heavy it is. People fail to realize is that this is a GT and NOT a Sports car. These cars are built for high speed traveling…150 mph +…all day long….sure it’s finicky, but that is just the passion coming out. Porsches are a penny a dozen…it’s like driving a Mercedes/BMW/Audi…..NO PASSION. This gentlemen forgot to mention that this is a 3200 Twin Turbo V8…a classic car. A lot of reviews of these cars are done with poor examples of the marque…because maintenance is so HIGH…but it’s worth it. I always get looks and thumbs up and everyone wants to race me. 0-60 -> 4.4/4.7 top seed 180+ with a normally aspirated V8…no hair dryers attached….just 4.2 liters and 420ish horsepower with my modifications. This car also pulls like a scolded dog and NEVER runs out of breath. So yourself a favor….buy a Maserati, a good example….don’t be cheap, do the maintenance and my GOD lose the boring Porsche/Mercedes/BMW/Audi blahness…..do something different for once. You WON’T regret it.

Do you also know if a manual swap is a possibility? Ferrari was still making a V8 manual when the GT first launched and I'm certain Ferrari/Maserati shared engine parts in that era.

@@deanchur My Masi GT has been a dream, daily driver for almost 3 years. One of the most solid power trains you can find if you go around 2013 and up!!! The engine in my 2014 is referred to as the Ferrari-Maserati engine. Since 2001 this engine has been jointly developed by the two but produced by Ferrari. The engine is the F136 which is used by Ferrari in several of their models, most notably the Ferrari 458. The 458 is a flat plane crankshaft whereas the Maserati is crossplane. A manual swap would be a nightmare and not worth the headache, but I'm sure with a ton of money, could be achieved. But really, why would you???

Great video Valentin, thank you Sir! You must have had so much fun filming this! I have. a Maserati and love it so much for it's Italian style and V8, every journey in it is special, and that V8 is just epic.....! - A friend has the same 4.3 Vantage in hardtop as you drove here which is also gorgeous. I think the choice comes down to whether you want the old British class of an Aston, or the somewhat more flamboyant Maserati. Both beautiful cars, and both make the world a better place when you see them on the road, especially when you are behind the wheel! Keep up the good work! ;-)

Pairing these two manufacturers was a great choice. Because they both build their cars from their own past. Thus, they always represent a more conservative direction of sports car construction. The Vantage clearly evokes the smooth lines of the db4 gt zagato, while the GranCabrio carries on the legacy of the legendary 450S sports car of the ’50s and its predecessors in its design. But I have to say the Maserati starts with handicap because the classic lines never prevail with the vibrant colors. Perhaps it would have been more fortunate to choose a specimen painted with Grigio Nuvolari. The other downside is that the first series of GranCabrio was more aesthetic (as usual) than the second one here. The classic design has fallen victim to the desperate effort to win the graces of growing younger buyers. Thus, Kevlar covers were included, which should rather be left to Lamborghini and his associates. The Vantage was fantastically hit, especially with the rear view of the car, which seemed a bit unimaginative at the time the Maseratin was released. It's not so dangerous with today's eyes. The problem with AM is (as usual) with the aesthetics of the instrument panel and steering wheel. It’s simply not the cockpit of a sports car, it’s an American limousine. This sight is always sad, just like the db9, which also has a fantastic look. Here, the Italian gains an unimportant advantage, as we still see most of our car from the inside. But I add again, not thinking about this parrot color scheme interieur, with the carbon platelets. (sorry).
The sounds. The Vantage combines the sounds of an ancient British sports car with the ripples of American muscle cars of the ’60s. The Maserati is a typical Italian, starts from a baritone and arrives at a roaring tenor. Both are unique and pleasant. But the tenor boils the person's blood better ...
But of course it is subjective, as are the previous ones I wrote above.

    • @ValEuroSport
      @ValEuroSport  2 роки тому

Hello, thank you for the detailed review you wrote for this video. Perhaps I chose the Maserati in that wild color combination to even the odds a little, seeing that it faced the legendary Aston Martin Vantage. I can tell that you have a true appreciation for art as it applies to cars. I loved the Vantage but I have to say that having acquired a few more DB9s in the meantime, I discovered that I prefer the latter. Maybe I am getting a little too comfortable driving these cars, and I appreciate having a little more space and a little more power (or rather a lot).
Thank you for watching. Please stay tuned as I have some fun sports cars coming in.

I think they got a bit lazy back there. I’m not sure you mentioned the color of the Aston... is it tempest blue by chance? It doesn’t seem 100% silver/gray.

      Bonjour Jerome,
I never thought of it that way. I considered the stop lights are more than adequate for the car. You may have a point. The Granturismo is a knock dead gorgeous car. Perhaps Maserati could have designed a better tail light. This is not exact science. Remember those multi variable algebra equations that had a non-unique set of solutions? This is one of those cases. As to the color of the Vantage, Aston Martin calls it "Meteorite Silver". It is a rare color... I haven't seen another one like it since...

As mentioned the 2014 car would have had 4.7 V8 and 420hp plus the robotizes manual would have been second generation so slightly better. The Maserati colour is simply stunning with the tan interior.

Seems like these two should have been the subject of more comparisons. I have had some of the older Maseratis, 2004 and a 2005 and they are fun cars. Way larger these days. Always sort of wanted a DB9. Still do. Would shoot for a 2009-2012 coupe. The vantage doesn’t seem like the best comparison. At this level it should be the DB9 against the Maserati GT. I think they spec out performance wise very close. The “Maserati” name seems to get a lot love and they are fairly common in Florida. Of course so are the Astons. If life and BTC permits, think I’d still shoot for the DB9.

    • @ValEuroSport

Right after we finished the film, we thought the same thing you did. This comparo was not exactly fair to the Vantage, given the years difference, and performance statistics. Dear Manny, I agree with you about the Aston Martin. Maserati did start making cheap cars (Ghibli, 6 cylinder Quattroporte and Levante). The Granturismo cars are still V8 powered cars still emitting the aural treat we have all come to love. You could say the GranTurismo is the last "true" Maserati. Aston Martin is a much smaller market niche than Maserati. That may be the reason you don't see so many AM cars on the road.
