I have this one from my Grandfather. He bought it new and wore it every day until the day he died. I had it in my safe for 20 years. I finally got it out and wear it in my rotation. I have grown to appreciate the look of this watch. Everything on it is original.
I wear a 1974 7006-7007 every day to school. It's been a great watch for the first half year so far. I'm the only person in the school who wears a watch older than 5 years and also only 3 people including me wear an analog in my school. I'm surprised its within 10 seconds per day and its held up pretty well. It's even still a little waterproof if you don't go down below 1 foot down into water.
Beautiful watch, love these vintage Seikos. Great watches and good movements. I have a few 1970s watches bought at auctions for great prices. I have learnt how to service them and fix them up. They have so many different styles made back then.
Thanks for the post. I just found a 7006-7007 after watching your post. Can't wait for it to ship. Love the cushion case, thick crystal, and great color. Absolutely iconic. Simple and looks really comfortable. I was curious about the band. Can you let me know the lug width? Looks like 19 or 20mm. I was thinking about going with a metal band and picking up a NATO too for some fun color. Any suggestions on band colors. Enjoy all your posts! Happy Holidays.
@@watchmegobroke4365 makes sense. I took a screen shot and used imageJ to create a calibrated image assuming the body is 39mm wide. Measures at 19.35mm. LOL. Getting nerdy on Thanksgiving morning. :) I am so excited to receive this one. I may try posting up a quick video when I unbox. Happy holidays!
I have this exact watch. It was a college graduation gift from my parents in 1973. They paid about about $50 from J. c Penney’s. Mine is not operational. For sentimental reasons I would like to get it working. I live in the Chicago south suburban area. Any suggestions where I can get mine working for a reasonable price?
I have one as it was my father's. He was very proud of it as it is a seiko and that beautiful blue face really sets it off. Still has original watch band and occasionally when I wear it, it keeps perfect time. Enjoyed your video
That's a very good looking watch. I've got a 1973 6106-7047 (think Rolex Day-Date two-tone) in excellent condition with original oyster-style bracelet, box and manual. Also, where did you get that "Shining carpet" strap?
Mine was born August of 1975. It has the inner box, outer box, warranty card and manual. It retailed for $79.50 from Best Products. I'd be happy to share some photos with you!
Thanks for showing me your vintage Seiko. I agree it is so much better than the Recraft models. Unfortunately, it does take a keen eye, knowledge and experience to get a good old Seiko off eBay without getting completely hosed. Also, I like your strategy of visiting pawn shops and flea markets. Question: do you know what the zigzag bolt at the bottom of the dial means?
The zigzag S shape is for Daini Seikosha factory. I've heard this called the "Thunder" logo. The other factory is Suwa Seikosha factory and has the "whirlpool" logo.

I don’t have it where I can check, as my caliper is broken. I THINK it is 19mm.

Great looking vintage. Looks to be in nice condition!

I think it would have competed with Omega back then
Agreed. It’s awesome.

Nice!
Very cool watch. This type of case shape has been calling to me, lately.
Rocking my snk809 as well!
I have this one,very nice
That looks really good!
Was wondering if it has hack/manual wind?
No hack or handwind. Just the old Seiko shuffle to get it going.
That case indeed is somewhat (a lot) over-polished. It still is a beautiful watch 👍👍
I like it!

I’m not sure but I bet someone on here does!
That lightning bolt pattern indicates which factory Seiko made the watch. They had two factories and that one was built in the Suwa factory.

Dude, you gotta give up where you got that Overlook strap. PLEASE
It was on Ebay but the seller isnt there anymore. Id keep looking and maybe he will pop up again.
That case and the acrylic crystal is all it takes for me...well maybe a dive bezel😉
i gotta sub to your channel just because of the name lol
Thanks!
