  • Our 3rd flight with Southwest Airlines, traveling to Texas before our cruise. This video highlights Chris' transfer from wheelchair to aisle chair, then boarding with the crew's assistance while I get his chair ready to be loaded into cargo below. We were lucky to run into Mr. Washington, an old friend from Chris' AZDOC days! He assisted with Chris' transfer into his seat, helping lift him over the armrest (these are not always removable, depending on the plane model). This video covers getting onboard, a second video will cover deplaning and returning to his wheelchair.

In an emergency, who is designated to toss you out? i guess at least two would be needed?

That's a great question, and one we've never asked! Realistically, we would most likely depend on someone big and strong to help me get him carried off the plane. Otherwise he would only be able to use his upper body to pull himself along.
