"The story [Tom Petty] told me went something like this: He’d been out driving with his wife, Dana, north of their Malibu home, when they’d stopped at a diner. Hello there, just off topic... we have here an ISUZU C221 Diesel engine and is being used as a marine engine but regardless of it we're cranking it by doing some preheating stuff by connecting a cable to a battery then connect to a metal strip on the body of the engine for a couple of seconds usually takes 30 seconds or so. So, my question is, is this preheating really necessary?? I noticed that in a car there's no preheating thing happening just turn the keys and it's on.
