Love how Stern’s plays off the melody so much, especially in the first minute or so. And these are strong, interesting melodies he writes, not just filler stuff that’s just an intro to the solos.
Saw Mike in St Louis a few years ago at Jazz at the Bistro. Great show! His pure joy and love of playing music is beautiful to watch.

I was about to post "What a great bass sound." ALL the playing is at a high level.
i had to stop what I was doing when I heard that bass solo and then I asked myself 'who is that bass player?'. to hear those eighth notes played by an electric bass was a glad surprise. amazing.

These guys are all incredible players but it sounds like a bunch of guys trying really hard to be hip and impressive, not getting much soul from it. I could of course be 100% wrong. Will try listening to it a few more times
