1987 I graduated from Fort Benning Georgia Basic Training and drove home to Connecticut. There off the highway was Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. 4 years later…. This happened
The first 10 seconds into this.. there were tears of JOY coming down my face cause I remember this season like yesterday growing up in Atlanta living on Flat Shoals😌😏
One of the first teams that I got behind was that 1991 Atlanta Falcons, I was in the 3rd grade in Springfield, Missouri. They made me believe that anyone, including myself, a kid with dyslexia, only child, coming from a broken home can do anything that they want. I remember the Wild Card game vs Saints, I cut off my dad, when he dropped me off with my mom in saying goodbye after the Christmas/New Year break in 1992. I was intensely involved in that Wild Card Game and wanting the Falcons to win. A few years later, me and my mom moved across the state to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and my pee wee team was called the Falcons, and I was emotionally involved in the Falcons. 1994 had June Jones as the Coach, Jeff George as the QB, and the brawl of Andre Rison (Falcons) vs Deion Sanders (49ers) and I was emotionally involved with the Falcons, including later on cheering on the Falcons in their 2 Super Bowls vs Broncos and Patriots. Its hard when you go against both John Elway and Tom Brady, tho. That 1991 Atlanta Falcons team was one of my favorite memories. I can't wait for the Falcons to Win the Super Bowl, one day!!!!. 2 Legit, 2 Legit to Quit 4ever!!!!
I've been a falcons fan since the early Vick days and still ride with em 20 years later. I was born in 91 so this is pretty sweet to go back and learn a little history about my favorite team and how they were 2 LEGIT 2 QUIT in my birth year and unapologetically RUDE 💪 RISE TF UP ATL!!!
I just appreciate that you guys titled this series after the Secret Base docuseries. Really, really love it when official NFL content recognizes what they do.
I just served coach at my restaurant job today . He’s 81 and looks like he’s 60. Man doesn’t age. He’s a regular and he’s just as fun and full of life as in all of his interviews lmao
@@TazMD17 I mean don’t you see what they’re doing with nothing our talent grade is at least a D+ and we are 5-6 with a winnable schedule ahead like and as a first year head coach that’s different and straight having the will to try and win and get to the playoffs Dan Quinn rn 2-9 if anything Jerry 3-8/4-7 with no talent
@@denzelcrawford3528 player talent is lacking, but coaching is a major issue right now as I see it. You have a HC calling plays who was an OC for two years. He had the best running back in the league and passing schemes were very basic. He comes to the Falcons and now the offense is struggling--which has never been the Falcons' weakness--defense was. Art Smith has created a new issue for an already struggling team defensively. In 14 years since Ryan been QB, none of the GM or HC has been able to fix the defense.
@@TazMD17 soo tell me if you were a OC that came to this team right as HC now you only have 700,000$ in cap space it was less than that had to trade Julio cause he wanted to leave no money to build the line and got nothing but rookies but you are managing to keep up in the playoffs with no talent and ranked 20th in offense 25th in defense with no talent you want to blame it on the coaching and say the plays are basic with basic talent ?
I have to say I hate our new uniform colors... They should just go back to this and maybe the red helmets. It seems we were all white more often than anything now.
They only won a single playoff game. And they stunk every year except 1991. Culture is something that changes for longer than a single year where you got lucky in a lot of the games that you won.
Jerry Glanville should be in the falcons ring of honor he will always be the man in black he turn the falcons into badass n change then into black colors since then they never be same they still badass n don't take prisoners you will get hurt he always dress in falcons colors h greatest defense in history 1977 falcons"gritz blitz" stilk record 129 points in a season no team has ever come close ditry 🐦 birds 4 life
Who? 1991 I remember the Eagles defense. The Bills were getting really good (pre-back to back lesses in SB), the Niners were the league's standard bearers, the Cowboys were nurturing the triplets, Parcells and Bellichek were the toast of the town in NY. Bo and the Raiders were the league's culture creators. I did not even know the Falcons were a thing. Sanders was my favourite player in the laergue, but the rest of the team took a backseat.
Although he drafted players for the moment, but to me hands down he was the BEST HC for Atlanta because when he left the Atlanta attitude left with him. We need that type of spirit back in Atlanta Football team(s). Enough of this white collar attitude 😒
I like Jerry's attitude but Dan Reeves was the best coach Atl's had. But you have to blame your owner for hiring all these inexperienced coaches since Reeves. Like he's afraid to hire a strong, experienced coach, or he's just hoping for some magic genius with all the unknown coaches he's hired.
@@atlnla4112 I think Blank should sell the team because he should have been got rid of Rich McKay but he hold on to administrative people longer than anyone in the league and its effecting the team now he has a Billion dollar field but can't tickets
Fun seldom wins superbowls. 91 Falcons were fun but fun seldom wins superbowls. Boring wins superbowls. 91 Redskins boring but won the Superbowl. When I say boring I don't mean play I mean all other things outside of the field of play.
Again, I don't get what the fuss is over with the 1991 team?? They didn't even win the division that year, then got their asses handed to them by the Redskins in the divisional round 24-7. Not to mention it was bookended with a 5-11 season in 1990, and a 6-10 season in 1992. Yeah it may have been a fun team, but that's basically it! If we're gonna remember any season like this then make it the 1998 season where we actually kicked ass and took names and finished 14-2, won the then-NFC West Title, then pulled off one of the greatest upsets in NFL history beating the unstoppable 15-1 Vikings IN MINNESOTA to win the NFC Championship and punch our ticket to Super Bowl XXXIII. THAT'S worth commemorating, but a one hit wonder season when we didn't even win the division????? whatever!!!!
1991 was special because of the time in Atlanta, Primetime, them being the rudest team ever and because of that playoff win vs the Saints. yes 1998 was a lot better but 1991 is still iconic and this is because its the 30th anniversary of that team

Ayyyye Eastside!
ZONE SIX Flat Shoals Way.
College Park, Creel Rd…. I was 10 years old but I remember!
Tears of joy?? You guys haven't even won a Super Bowl. Should be tears of sadness and pain

Wow Granville impressive 👍👍 quite the showman
Grady Jarrett’s dad was one of the best players in Falcons history and for some reason a lot of fans don’t know that.
Jessie Tuggle is Falcons legend
He looks in good enough shape to make the Falcons practice squad!
The Hammer!
Even though they didn't win a Super Bowl, The 1991 Atlanta Falcons brought The Hip-Hop Culture to The NFL.
I remember that 1991 team, so much fun to watch! They were special!
1991 Atlanta Falcons It's Was So Amazing Magical Year For NFL History Thanks For Uploading ☺🏈
That was a FOOTBALL TEAM w/ Attitude! Loved Jerry and what he brought.
I'm torn. This is the team that made me a Falcons fan! Good times but some heartbreak recently 😆.
That year they brought fun and swag to the NFL as a team love this here
It was flashy. Then topped off with the dirty bird... That loss was my first real lesson of any given Sunday chance to win.
I remember I had already been a falcon fan for 5 years. That season I got my 1st falcon jersey... Andre BAD MOON RISON..
Glanville looks the same from when I was 6 years old. I'm 36 now.

It's the no fun league now. Penalties for taunting, unnecessary roughness on clean tackles. A kinder, gentler brand of football.
You be much better if we did more about the 98 team just saying 😂😂
Football before kneeling and politics. It was great.
Pretty sure they were playing the national anthem back then so yeah still very much political
