We've got to wait until July for our time off here in the UK, but we get week-long breaks every 6 weeks on top of 2 week breaks for Christmas and Easter. I think if the US had this same system, you'd see less burned out teachers. Mind you, it's not all sunshine and roses here either. Teaching is still a revolving door job, but there's at least less burnout from waiting for time off.
In the U.S we get 2 1/2 weeks for Christmas. Week spring break. Week for Thanksgiving. Fall break. Plus starting in January we only go 4 days a week. We start school Aug 15ish and off May 15ish.
My kids attend school from home and have teachers online. I do most of the work making sure they are learning. By the time May rolls around my patience is as thin as it can get but at least I know what my kids need to work on for learning and what they are strong with.

The only inaccuracy: by mid-May you not only have the correct date on the board, you also have a countdown listing how many days are left til summer! Sometimes watching the numbers change is the only thing pulling you through 😂

I'm never that perky but i am much calmer in august.. Day one is me saying alright, let's gets started. End of the year is definitely accurate. I yelled for the first time all year right at the end of the last day. I know you're excited, but did you forget that we don't screech like a pterodactyl and give piggy backs? I mean i guess it's my fault for turning my back for a few seconds to speak with another student.
