Talk about the one on the left being old, You should see my now 17yr old Bellsouth Westell 1.5MB DSL box. Actually lucky to have that. Grandfathered in to it otherwise it’s put up a satellite dish here
This was very helpful. I have really bad / spotty internet in my house and I cannot get a good signal in most of the house. I have had a couple of technicians out and one added a smart mesh access point (Air 4920) it didn’t fix my problems. I am looking into installing a mesh system but my knowledge is limited and I’m trying to learn what would be best. I have Art fiber internet 1000, the fiber gateway, hooked to the 5268AC Broadband Gateway Modem. Then there is an Ethernet cable to an Arris VAP2500 wireless access point and then Air 4920 I previously mentioned spaced about half way across the house (35’ away through 4 walls). Do you think I would benefit from buying and installing a mesh system from Costco (Netgear Orbi / TP-Link Deco etc..) would this replace the Arris VAP2500 and Air 4920 mesh access point)?
Hi! Yeah the att mesh isn’t too bad of a system for the price. But if you’re wanting power through many Wally’s. Eero. Orbi are all really great systems. Also. The walls you’re going through. Are they restroom. Or and ac unit. Or are there a large mirror in between the other room? If so. The Wi-Fi will be a bit spotty due to those devices.
Wow, good timing, which of the first two routers is better? I just got the bgw 210 to replace the 5268ac should swap them or just get something else? No fiber in my neighborhood yet.
@@purewhips1 I have the second from the left router and supposedly Wed. ATT is upgrading me to 50/10 and I don't have a clue why they need to come out and thought they'd do the upgrade at the office and not in the field since I have copper to the house and no fiber and was talking with a tech last week who was working on a neighbors house and he said they have no plans to run fiber into my neighborhood for at least a couple years and the best I can get from copper is 6 mbps so don't have a clue how they are upgrading me, lol.
@@kosh2001 Some providers have no issue severely over subscribing and taking the revenue without providing the additional service. Some even host their own internal speed test. I would for sure want faster service like the 500 but if it’s a shared network at the terminal and there are other people on it I would say I would stay with the AT&T 50 x 10 And ask if the technician could increase me to a 17 MHz profile with a K card or an N card
Context... you lack it. What is the quoted speed for each service? Which service represents the speeds you stated? Regardless those are crap numbers for either one.
I am getting 12 mbs download and .89 mbs upload speed. Not even 1 MBs. We have fiber that’s 500/500 upload and download. Those smaller numbers reflect how slow our copper speed was prior to fiber being finished. Also, not everyone is a tech nerd, it’s nice to demonstrate kindness every once is a while
Is it possible to remotely activate a new fiber modem? The tech said there was an issue with the install and now I need to wait a week for another tech to come out to activate the modem.
@@purewhips1 they said that additional work needed to be done outside. That is done now so I supposedly just need another tech to come out and activate my modem.
Ok good. That means that it’s ready to activate. Contact that tech and have them activate it. Or contact 800 2882020 and tell them they need to activate it. You’ll need your account number and the sn number under the 320gateway I believ.

Holy wow!!
Yeah seen a few where it was only working off land line services with 500kbps. I asked them. How do you live! Lol.

Bgw210 is the best that att has for copper. You can use its Wi-Fi built in feature. Or get a third party router. Night hawks are the goto ones.
so i have that ONT device but its plugged into the BGW. I dont have the SSP's. It seems to work but I dont know what im doing. ATT told me to do this.
Can i use a different wall jack or does it have to be the At&t wall jack?
Seen where some have had just the regular phone jack work. But if not. You’ll have to use att branded jacks.
thanks
Hope this helped out a little bit.

@purewhips1 I know I'm about 3000 feet away from the vrad would the k card or n card up the speed to 100/20?
@@AtlasTechnologyTips
From what att techs tel me. 100/20 should be under 1000 ft
75/20 1500 ft or less.
50/10 is 2500 or less.
25/5 3000 ft or less
@purewhips1 yeah I've heard that too, do you have an idea when att may run fiber to the areas with only fttn vdsl?
That’s something I have no idea on at all.
Area I live at had 50/10 for about 7 years. Then they ran fiber and I left a few months later.
Received my equipment and it is missing the SFP+
Wow. Why does att do that.
Ok. Do you have the ONT some where in the home. Like garage?

When you say 12 dn and 1 up. That’s a 10/1 profile.
Need to check your profile with att or the smart home manager app.
