This 49-inch monitor has built in cheats - Philips Evnia 49m2c8900 review

- This is my lifestyle review of the Philips Evnia 49m2c8900 gaming monitor. Which is a 49-inch QD-OLED behemoth that sports some nifty features like a built in sniper scope option, Ambiglow backlighting, awesome colour representation and some serious specs too. It's a nice alternative to the Samsung Odyssey line-up and is reasonably priced to boot.
I've been testing it out for a few weeks with a variety of games and use case scenarios so I can give you my thoughts. I played Cyberpunk 2077, Ready or Not, Escape from Tarkov, Need for Speed Unbound, Chivalry 2, Deathloop, Helldivers 2, Starfield, Robocop Rogue City and more. You'll see shots of these games in this video and more.
Things I liked about this monitor include:
- Decent specs for the money including fast refresh rate and response time
- Built in settings like dark boost and sniper scope
- PBP settings for splitting the screen in two for 16:9 use cases
- Hefty speakers that are surprisingly loud and decent sounding
- Quality OLED panel with no issues
- 10bit colour and HDR settings make it vibrant but it also has lots of colour pre-sets for different uses
Things I didn't like:
- Special features only work in standard mode, not PBP
- Adaptive sync leads to flicker
- Ambiglow is nowhere near as good as Ambilight
- OLED isn't as impressive as other models

Well at 1500.00 I'll wait for more reviews and then wait for the price to go down. Good job 👏.
I got it for roughly 950$, and at that price, it seems well worth it, or at least very competitive to what's available. My only significant issue with it so far is the lack of DP 2.1
*WOW!* 👀
Thank you my friend.
I always had two screen for work, but I’m very curious about this kind of screen.
The sniper mod thingy can be done with the free program called Reshade , you can create a zoom like that and put it where you want (and also make your games look better)
Does that not get detected by anti cheat tools?
Thanks for your exceptionally good review! I´m also considering this monitor since the burn in warranty makes this the only viable purchase for an ultra wiede QD-OLED. One thing I don´t get is why the 34" version is better than this since this has the second gen QD-OLED panel? Is it because of the firmware? Would you recommend this also for 8 hours work in home office? I´ve read a few comments on reddit that the 8h kick in time for the pixel refresh is a little annoying. Is it a static timer or can you change it manually? And if so - does the burn in warranty still apply since you modified the refresh timer? Appreciate your work!
The timer is annoying but you can ignore it
Hey prawn you are one of my favorite monitor reviewers. I know it is annoying but could you possibly show osd crosshairs settings in future videos for monitors you review.
Most the presets the companies come up with are oversized trash. I live somewhere where I can’t see monitors in person, and th is would be extremely helpful for people like me.
Thanks for the feedback. It's so tough to cover everything but it's good to know what people want so I'll do that in future.
Do you think for g-sync graphics card is worth?
Hi, I’m from UK. You say you have a smart sniper mode on this.. is there any chance that the same kind of software is available on PHILIPS Evnia 42M2N8900-42 Inch 4K Gaming Monitor,
Just curious, I would appreciate it because that’s the monitor. I’m thinking of purchasing but before I do so I don’t need the windscreen the 42 is enough. I just wanna know whether or not it’s got the smart sniper mode. I would appreciate it. Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming. Look after your friends and family and bye for now.
I'm afraid I don't know about the other models Rich. It's not software though. It's built into the monitor
Lol nice. Id love to get a second for my samsung g9 but ive been limited to just throwing a couple tablets on the left and right side of the desk.
Get a bunch of portable displays and but them below the G9.
Can it highlight your team mates? To help with friendly fire
😂

Just another reason crossplay shouldn't be a thing with pc
it's too narrow top to bottom. HARD PASS. That's the thing about this ultra-wide monitors.
