First one innit? I like space. This is what I'd be doing if I had Elon money. Just buying nice houses and spend they ear just traveling between them. Not trying to topple democracy. Got to know WHY the single beds though. Even for a single person bigger is better. And the bathrooms all having windows into the bedrooms? Not just these ones. You see it all the time.
I can see why videos with Chris only happens so rarely. Alex needs a few months to recover from Chris. I loved all the properties though. It seems like a lovely place, especially that close to Tokyo. I don't think I would want to live in Tokyo, but I do like going there. The ocean, however, is my favourite place to live. More than the beach it's just the air.
Well done to everyone involved with this one. Very interesting, and great fun! And a special note about the "Impress Abroad" intro -- very happy to see that.
The surf board on the wall in property 2 going from grey to red spun me out as did Chris shoes going from Nike to Adidas from property 1 to 2, and his shorts to pants. Loved this video, awesome location and properties.
Poor Alex, committing himself to yet another barrage or Chris's insults and quips. I do sometimes wonder if people are aware of Chris's way of showing affection is just through sheer insults alone xD. Personally, loved the first place, that top terrace is where it's at. I'm a man made for BBQs and that would be perfect! Love the work guys, keep it up :)
Fun Fact I live just a few km away from GAGGENAU, which is actually a suburb of the town Baden-Baden in Germany^^ So yeh their founders named their kitchen appliances after their hometown.
I love Baden-Baden! Beautiful town. I lived in Rust for a number of years in the 90's, so not too far away from where you are 😊. Lovely part of the country 💖🏴
Wonderful video Alex, you have my sympathies having to wrangle the colossal manchild that is Chris Broad throughout these amazing properties, you must have the patience of a saint. I'm kidding obviously, I'm a huge fan of you both, but he clearly turns up the mischievousness when it's not his video. Keep em coming 😁
This town seems pretty nice. The sort of place you want to holiday in regularly. Japan fascinates me - modern Japan has a ton of similarities with Western cities, and yet it's still so very different
kamakura is quite well known for its old style buildings and its quite populated and busy, has many domestic tourists as well as foreign ones, the beach isn't that far from the station either maybe a half hour walk. u can reach kamakura by train from tokyo in about an hour and pass yokohama (about half hour) in the same train.😊
Fantastic video, haven’t really considered Kamakura for my past 2 trips to japan but now will for sure be going on my next visit! Coastline and the area in general look amazing
Goodness, I was on this very beach in June 2024 and saw this house Property 1 from the beach. I thought it was a block of condos! Did not realise it was an entire house! OMG!
Kamakura and Atami are my favorite cities in Japan. I knew the first house from pictures, but it was cool to see the real scale in the video. I think it would be a bit big for me, or I would have to find a lot of friends to fill the garden, the sitting cirle and the roof ;) My favorite would be the appartment with the restaurant on the ground floor. Being close to Enoshima is also a plus, because you can explore the island, take the enoshima railway or take the Monorail. (I just rode the monorail for fun, and found a huge white buddy head near the last station XD)
that first house is an open declaration of 'I'm a filthy rich parasocial-type who feels compelled to constantly host and schmooze other rich influential and connected friends to maintain my lifestyle'. the third house is more of an 'I'm rather rich and want a quirky but massive abode with good views' type house. all of the properties suffer the same issues of having so much square footage to use that they end up just wasting space with bizarre design decisions, extra sinks, massive largely empty rooms, odd liminal spaces and bathrooms whose square footage dwarfs some apartments. rich people architecture is somewhat maddening tbh ;p
I remember seeing the listing for the first property a while back. The indoor/outdoor fireplace really impressed me. It comes across even nicer on video!
I think that longer hair would suit him even better, like around shoulder length maybe even longer than that but he won’t get there if someone makes fun of it I also think that going bald might suit him greatly maybe with a bigger beard
Happy to see more vids with Mr. Affable, the best part for me personally is seeing Alex raction and cringes to Chris rambelings haha never stop! I would love if you could do a more consistent upload schedule I have to be honest I sometimes forget about your channel when it is months in between, I would also not mind watching for more places that somewhat normal people can actually afford sprinkled in between the 1 percenter pads. 15:30 why is Chris book not there? Well Chris that is for you to figure out why you are not on the shelf haha🤣😉🙃
Thank you for the tour of these 3 beautiful and well appointed properties. Great views from all of them. It does remind me of the coast btwn Malibu and Laguna Beach as well as Camps Bay in Cape Town, South Africa. .BTW you didn’t mention the price of the last 2.
30:00 if that fan is from a boat, I see why it's far more useful to be attached to a ceiling, what a terrible propeller for a boat, both the size and material
The 1st house is absolutely gorgeous. Love, love, love the open spaces, balconies and huge windows! And the outside living room is nuts! What an unreal space! "I wanna shower in this corner." Lmao, love when Chris gets silly.
up till today, the best house imagination i have is only just 2 bedroom apartment. high floor. with mountain or city view. but this videos change everything, now, it has to be seafront house with multi stories floor, and BIG glass
Alex, you need to add an age restriction on these properties. Climbing all these stairs would be out of the question for us. At a certain age your joints will only accept a one story home 😉. Thank you for showing these properties.
lol so much tech but you need a firelighter. Even my BBQ lights itself 🤣 Kamakura is very nice, but doesn't get as much surf as the Kujukuri coast (Chiba).
From this video, I realised that the surnames used in Oregairu light novels are just town names from Kamakura, despite the series taking place in Chiba.
Maybe no 3 when it’s finished. Not too big but still nice. On property no 1 I did not like the rocks around the sunken lounge area. I would change that. Also I can see myself walking into windows but you’d get used to it.
I lived in Yokohama and worked in Fujisawa and if my company had extended my secondment I was planning to move to the Kamakura coast. I was looking at one of these properties. Sadly they sent me to work on a project in the American division instead 😢
An oceanfront location adds more cleaning work plus appliances, electrical objects (like lamps) and all metal objects (even the wheels on the glass sliders) do not like salt air. Black bathtubs are a challenge too. I managed multi-million dollar oceanfront mansions on Maui for 8 years. 100% constant maintenance, repair, and replacement.
Congrats -- you've sat through almost 50 minutes of Tokyo Portfolio! Which of the three was your favorite?
do you do any Okinawa properties?
The correct answer is one @gosekinz.
My fave was the first one of course.
First one innit? I like space. This is what I'd be doing if I had Elon money. Just buying nice houses and spend they ear just traveling between them. Not trying to topple democracy. Hopefully this long videos give you amazing results because I love the format and I want to see more :D
1st place my favorite aswell :D
He's been up Mt. Fuji once and will never let us forget it.
TWICE
@@AbroadinJapan roflmaoooo
@@AbroadinJapanwhat a foolish thing to do
@@AbroadinJapan now make it 3... Just to flex.
American liberals would have already destroyed it.
Chris broke Alex's heart so many times 😅😅😂😂
0:34
"It's quite big."
"I get that a lot."😂
That's what she said, when i walked in the room..! LOL
I completely missed him saying that 😂
I can see why videos with Chris only happens so rarely. Alex needs a few months to recover from Chris.

The “Odd Couple” chemistry just works
Impress abroad, the show where one must do the impossible- RETURNS!
Can't get enough Portfolio content!!
PS without Chris, he knows the video is about the house, not him, right?
The surf board on the wall in property 2 going from grey to red spun me out as did Chris shoes going from Nike to Adidas from property 1 to 2, and his shorts to pants.
Loved this video, awesome location and properties.

I love Baden-Baden! Beautiful town.

30:16 omg that is a beautiful blue Holden Ute all the way from Australia, driving IN JAPAN! Also, yes the properties are very nice.
Lots of spectacular cars and motorcycles to be seen in enoshima
sharla got serious competition
I Like the bit at the end of house three where the cameraman gives himself a cameo.
I see you, dude.
First place was easily the nicest one, especially for having that nice private garden on the ground floor.
Chris , two sinks = good: Love the back and forth interaction; Chris go wait in the car while we try to sell this house! xo
Almost 50min of Japanese Homes, thank you!!!! Christmas came early!!!
This town seems pretty nice. The sort of place you want to holiday in regularly.
Japan fascinates me - modern Japan has a ton of similarities with Western cities, and yet it's still so very different

Holy crap! a circa 2005 Holden Ute along the beach! @ 30:16 so awesome!!!
Goodness, I was on this very beach in June 2024
and saw this house Property 1 from the beach. I thought it was a block of condos! Did not realise it was an entire house! OMG!
Great video! Amazing houses, would love to see some of the super luxurious houses in Tokyo as well.
The first one is insane had it been anywhere else in the world it would easily be 20M+, plus the rooftop balcony is so huge it left me speechless.
Love the extra long video! Super chill!
Liebherr Kühlschränke am start! And yes, i would pick the first house, what a great view on the top! love it!
Kamakura and Atami are my favorite cities in Japan. I knew the first house from pictures, but it was cool to see the real scale in the video. Owners went hard on the in door/outdoor living room, but best we can do is the Taschen Collection for the books on the wall
I remember seeing the listing for the first property a while back. The indoor/outdoor fireplace really impressed me. It comes across even nicer on video!
i need a new video from u every 2 days pls . tbh actually every day but for u every 2 days is fine
1# 😮 chris is finally impressed😮🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love Alex’s hair!!!
I think that longer hair would suit him even better, like around shoulder length maybe even longer than that but he won’t get there if someone makes fun of it
I also think that going bald might suit him greatly maybe with a bigger beard
I think Chris needs a carriage house.
Abroad in Japan Cinematic Universe let's gooo
@17:20 That Atrium is sensational.
can you talk about these properties and the insurance that goes with the risk of tsunamis
i loved rthe first one its nice and big and well thought out.
Thank you for another great tour.
Happy to see more vids with Mr. Affable, the best part for me personally is seeing Alex raction and cringes to Chris rambelings haha never stop! Well Chris that is for you to figure out why you are not on the shelf haha🤣😉🙃
Beautiful area of Japan. I think my favorite is House #3. Thanks for sharing these homes.
Another legendary video!
When I went to Kamakura I was impressed at how large the houses could be there and I stayed very close to the second property 😮
You two together just makes me 😃!
Has to be my favourite video so far😍
Thank you for the tour of these 3 beautiful and well appointed properties. Great views from all of them. It does remind me of the coast btwn Malibu and Laguna Beach as well as Camps Bay in Cape Town, South Africa. .BTW you didn’t mention the price of the last 2.
I'm always amused how Chris deflects Alex's mild double-entendres.
Alex there camp as Christmas, when it comes to switching things on, has no idea. Watch your drinks Chris 😂
Uuh shush. Alex slowly running out of patience. 🤣
As a German, I never felt more represented and offended at the same time. Good job!
"Don't you fucking swear on my channel" is peak comedy, I laughed so hard I scared my cat that was next to me and it ran under the bed
i like how the cooktop is super fancy high tech and the dishwasher is bog standard consumer grade
Priorities 🤣
Chris gives Alex a hard time but Alex in kind enough to humor Chris. Chris: "Jurassic Park Stool" Alex: "Mhmm yep 🙄 Amber and Resin ... very similar"
The 2nd one was also my fave with its enoshima island views and proximity to enoshima
Love how you're course correcting Chris. We're done here, moving on, swearing on my channel...brbrbrbrrr. Legend.❤👍
Chris being satisfied that there is water coming out of the sink is hilarious
30:00 if that fan is from a boat, I see why it's far more useful to be attached to a ceiling, what a terrible propeller for a boat, both the size and material
The 1st house is absolutely gorgeous. Love, love, love the open spaces, balconies and huge windows! And the outside living room is nuts! What an unreal space!
"I wanna shower in this corner." Lmao, love when Chris gets silly.
The third property is so beautiful it broke my heart 😢
up till today, the best house imagination i have is only just 2 bedroom apartment. high floor. with mountain or city view.

These are amazing properties! Personally i'm much more of a forest fan than the ocean, got any forest properties? :D
lol so much tech but you need a firelighter. Even my BBQ lights itself 🤣
Kamakura is very nice, but doesn't get as much surf as the Kujukuri coast (Chiba).
24:15 I forgot we were seeing three properties!
I had to look twice at the thumbnail to make sure it wasn’t Ai. Never saw Abroad smile that big unironically.
What's a beedroom? 19:21
The 1st one definitely needs some more green plants on the inside and roof deck!
From this video, I realised that the surnames used in Oregairu light novels are just town names from Kamakura, despite the series taking place in Chiba.
The first house was really impressive. Though, I would rather own the 3rd house. A bit more subdued and more to my liking.
Great episode. 3rd one would be enough for me 😂.
The snd floor kitchen looks more like an office or a skit for a cooking show, "Abroad in a Pan"
LOL every time they say "you can watch the people wind surfing" I'm pretty sure the same guy has been in every shot.
That's a roadside villa, not a beach villa.
Maybe no 3 when it’s finished. Not too big but still nice. On property no 1 I did not like the rocks around the sunken lounge area. I would change that. Also I can see myself walking into windows but you’d get used to it.
Saunas are always 👌
I love the first house 🥰
I need an ENTIRE VIDEO of Chris doing an American accent!!!!!
Nobody needs that
Yeah, that cooktop is awesome until your 4 year old wanders off the super cool magnetic knob.
I love these videos with Chris.
38:03
Fanfic Writers: Damn it!
So funny. Great content.
"Do you want to sell more copies? 😅 what's wrong with you? 🤪😉" 😂😂
😂 cuts out the sound of the main road and cars bugger that while trying to relax out side in summer 😂
I agree with you Chris - I don't get the two sink thing either 😅
Mannnn I love these!
Legend has it Chris has never work full length trousers
I lived in Yokohama and worked in Fujisawa and if my company had extended my secondment I was planning to move to the Kamakura coast. I was looking at one of these properties. Sadly they sent me to work on a project in the American division instead 😢
The first one for $8m its very nice, perfect but faces the open sea and would be always making you think when the big one hits. Tsnuami Heaven.
Now I just want you too have a discussion around 1 sink vs 2 sinks
So you're saying those doors just pop right into the wall?
I find it adorable that Chris keeps mentioning his boyfriend
Someone said collab with Chris? I'm in.
Nah bro! No shades in the bathrooms! Everything on full display! Assert dominance!
Anyone know why residential buildings in Japan never have central air con? It’s always those mini splits.
"The Wax" 😂 good name for a horror movie
maintaining and cleaning that house must be an adventure or an endevour. XD
I dig these videos 😂
Chris should just carry copies of his book around to leave in places 😂
They really need to consult the Finns at their sauna design, that sauna is so claustrophobic.
