Mt Barney NP - Isolated Peak

A hard circuit walk across Isolated peak. Mt Barney Archives - Winter 2020 : Isolated peak - Traverse of the South East ridge.
Distance : Probably 10 km return. Very hard grade.
Walking conditions : Scrubby ridges, steep slabs, scrambling of all types, occasional walking, a few short climbs, and down climbing with rope. The entire route is a struggle.
Notes : The second of two videos about a trip to Isolated peak in 2020. Walking the back country of Mt Barney is very demanding, and despite all of my preparations, the day was a massive undertaking. Payment for all the exertion and skirting of dangerous edges was spending time in this wonderful place, one of the gems of Mt Barney.
Isolated peak is so full on that I must include a disclaimer...
Concerning walking conditions on Mt Barney :
When walking the known ridge routes, 99.9% of visitors return safely... cuts, bruises and exhaustion aside. When walking the back country, the safety percentage is reduced. Visiting isolated areas requires extra preparation. The National park system allows us to judge our own risk factors as individuals, and as individuals we take those risks. Walking the back country requires more of this judgement from us.
Although there is much information about the mountain in these videos, please don't take anything I have to say as advice on actually dealing with the mountain. There is much that cannot be conveyed on videos, bushwalking being a completely physical activity.
It is my wish to provide knowledge without giving advice.
On Mt Barney it is best to :
a. have observed every safety precaution.
b. be fit.
c. know the way.
d. have trusted gear.
e. know our own capabilities at present.
f. have adquate supplies.
g. start early.
h. have good foot placement.
i. conserve energy.
j. be comfortable with heights.
k. take care... to enjoy the mountain.
