I feel so small watching you, since I struggle to cobble a shop and home together and not only is it taking a long time, but the equipment I have pails in comparison to every single piece of yours...I seem to come and go with your channel, and I like a lot of the content, but I sure wish you would spend less time advertising for vendors that sponsor you, that is what makes me look for another channel. Some of us are not as fortunate as you and to many people on YT I'm sure it is pretty daunting to see what a nice setup you have with so much land. I'm not a contractor by trade, so that is one difference. I paid some serious coin to get my land graded, but finally have my foundations in and working on the shop. Kudos to you and your wife. I was taught by a Canadian in Jane Lew at the time, how to build with log, I was there is 2009 or 2010 to learn how to dovetail 'em. While that style is associated with the Appalachians, it pre-dates that in the Georgian Bay area of Ontario. I subscribed once again, I'll see if I get annoyed or not...I come by here for the building, forestry, saw milling, etc...so not as interested in the family drama you guys go through, I have enough of my own...that's something else that gets me to click on the UA-cam logo to find another channel...food for thought...not trying to change you.
At 83 years old, I don’t think I will be in the market myself. But, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this setup. Wood-mixer looks like a well thought out product. As an old aviation engineer, I appreciate the human factors regarding safety and ease of operation. Looks like an excellent choice for years of production and satisfaction.

I began to take interest in saw mills a few years ago... and at first I looked for people who built their own. I didn't know that lots of people buy these when they have a good use for them... anyway, I found 2 channels where they built their own. Matthew Cremona runs a woodworking channel, and he built a HUGE mill that will accept bigger logs than nearly any other mill... he's sort of a connoisseur of lumber... He runs a good channel. While he rarely uses his mill, I also found Heath and Cedar at Red Poppy Ranch, and it's become one of my favorite channels. Anyway, I thought I'd mention them as you content creators tend to work together sometimes. I found you through the Hauses. Enjoying your channel a lot... thanks for sharing.
Cremona's mill is impressive. Most people don't need anything that big though. What I like most about his channel is how he explains what's going on in the grain of those massive slabs he's making.

If you don't pour a pad, you can take some white oak or treated lumber and make 1'x 5 or larger pads. Then, put trim around the edges to capture the feet. The mill will move around. This way, it's less likely to lose level extra. Our is on a pad, and i had to ancure some stop blocks lag bolted down. Enjoy the mill.. feel free to reach out if you have questions about cutting lumber. I've been doing it for over 30 years.
Mike you are going to enjoy that machine. It is much nicer than my LT40HD. I am glad to see that it will cut a 21 foot long log. Marty became a dealer 4 years after I bought my saw. I would like to have had a person like him when I bought mine. Congratulations on your investment.

And, I am so very glad you went to such lengths to get Marty's clear explanations on everything--not just the specs of the machine, but also a variety of conditions, errors, events that a sawyer might experience. I've never used a bandsaw and never even really watched one operate in person. However, from watching you and a few other folks with Wood Mizers, I am immensely impressed! Looking forward to lots and lots more videos of your making beautiful boards out of the trees on your property. By the way, I was salivating at the grain in that log! It would NEVER do for me to stand there beside your machine while you're cutting....and I had my checkbook in my pocket. Oh, Lordy! I'd put quite a strain on my shock absorbers as I rode back home with by treasure trove of wooden gold from your place!

Congrats on your new mill Mike. You will really enjoy using it. I have a 1998 LT40 Hydraulic and have enjoyed many years of cutting with it basically maintenance free. I have about 1500 hours on it now. Was a hobby business until the last 11 years since I retired and now gets more use. I probably mill 200 Popple logs into construction lath every year now along with custom milling some large logs and character logs with crotches. Includes some big white oak 1/4 sawing. Great video. I have my first manual mill being delivered next. I’ve been taking all of my logs to a friend who has a woodmizer LT 40 with 10,000+ hours on it. Really cool watching it run the whole log from a control station like that. Congrats on your upgrade.

It's the right machine; totally portable, so you can haul it down to your West Virginia soon to be cabin on your 40 acres, and put it to use down there. My hat is off to you. Everything is easy when you know how, getting to that point is a steeper climb with this LT50 but then the arrival is all the sweeter. Mike, with your fastidiousness in deeply caring for your equipment, I know you will master this as well. I was impressed with how effortlessly it went through that log.

What a impressive piece and would justify a like price tag! I will never own a mill but have been around and sold machinery for years, what a tremendous "walk around"! Everyone will recognize this man's expertise! Grease zerks are less appealing with each generation but Wood-Mizer is giving the owner an opportunity to receive extended longevity if the machine is serviced/lubricated in a timely fashion! This is not today's disposable through away! Mike, thank you for such an interesting video.

Mike; What a nice Sawmill. I've been watching a channel in central Pennsylvania: "Lumber Capital Log Yard". With their LT40. But, they also have an edger, so I've been looking at the Woodmizer EG-100 edger. I remember you going somewhere to see someone's "Dry It Klin". Myself, I would go with a Virginia Tech Solar Kiln, with a concrete radiant floor, as back-up.
This video could very well become one of your most watched videos. Like many others I will never own one of these bad boys, but I will most certainly watch this video again.

Good morning Mike, WOW!! The long awaited day for you and for all of us fans has finally arrived. To say this mill is an upgrade is just a little bit of an understatement, don't you think?? I use to always have a lot of my lumber custom sawn by a guy a few towns over. I was a log buyer and would select the best logs and I quarter cut a lot of my lumber. Some guys said I was wrong, but I just like the uniformity and stability in it and yes, I did have some plain sawn as well. I would go over and help of course and just had a great day in the process. While watching this video and being green with envy at the same time. I had a huge smile on my face and I'm pretty sure I could HEAR you smiling even bigger😊😊. You'll catch on to this pretty quickly and be going thru logs like crazy. I know the anticipation buying a new piece of equipment and finally getting your hands on it. So anxious and then a little fear of doing something and messing something up. I never had the opportunity to have an expert like Marty there with me on any of my things, but that also adds to the tension I bet. He sure seemed like a guy that loves his job and he'll be there when you need him. Your longest video that I'm aware of and for good reason, a BRAND NEW LT50 WIDE!!! Congratulations and take it slow. OMG….what a machine. I was scratching my head over all the functions. I’ve watched the cuts on older machine and could see myself cutting those support posts that come up.
What a fantastic machine! I guess it will help your learning curve that you have so many hours on the manual mill. Since you don’t have to walk through the sawdust with this mill maybe you could find/build some kind if trough to catch it. Then pick it up with the skid steer to empty it. It’s good your favorite machine colors are orange and black! 😂. When Marty mentioned someone offbearing for you I recalled I was an offbearer in a big old growth mill after high school. I was actually the 2nd offbearer. My uncle was the 1st offbearer. The blade for that head rig were about 12 to 14 inches wide. I had a blast working in that mill with my uncle.

Thanks for the video. After nine years with an LT35 we're finally upgrading to a 50. This was good video to get a heads up on the differences and especially the accused over the simple set.
It is a well thought out machine . The one thing I would have like to have seen is a centralized greasing location . Yes I think there would have to be a few seperate banks of fitting because of the moving carriage , and the distance between the components that require grease . But it would make that so much easier and a lot of value to the machine . Goodluck with the new machine Mike .

Good luck with the 50, I have purchased two mills from Marty over the last 12 years. I usually bring the mill out to Shade Gap for service and a full alignment in May or June. Great people and expert service.
That’s one nice mill. A lot of information to take in all at once, but as you get used to it….. that thing is going to make sawing so much easier. Have fun.

When my buddy's dad passed 15 years ago we moved his father's wood mizer to a farm in Evans City, just north of your location. We used it and left it there for the farmer to use. I worked with his dad on the machine some years before on a project and both times the machine was sweet to use. He would place some Lestoil in the water jug to keep the resin down. And as long as you don't his metal you are good. Custom cuts are a cinch with these machines. Having the grapple is a real plus for you too.

It's the right machine; totally portable, so you can haul it down to your West Virginia soon to be cabin on your 40 acres, and put it to use down there. My hat is off to you. Everything is easy when you know how, getting to that point is a steeper climb with this LT50 but then the arrival is all the sweeter. Mike, with your fastidiousness in deeply caring for your equipment, I know you will master this as well. I was impressed with how effortlessly it went through that log.

What a impressive piece and would justify a like price tag! I will never own a mill but have been around and sold machinery for years, what a tremendous "walk around"! Everyone will recognize this man's expertise! Grease zerks are less appealing with each generation but Wood-Mizer is giving the owner an opportunity to receive extended longevity if the machine is serviced/lubricated in a timely fashion! This is not today's disposable through away! Mike, thank you for such an interesting video.

Mike; What a nice Sawmill. I've been watching a channel in central Pennsylvania: "Lumber Capital Log Yard". With their LT40. But, they also have an edger, so I've been looking at the Woodmizer EG-100 edger. I remember you going somewhere to see someone's "Dry It Klin". Myself, I would go with a Virginia Tech Solar Kiln, with a concrete radiant floor, as back-up.
This video could very well become one of your most watched videos. Like many others I will never own one of these bad boys, but I will most certainly watch this video again.

Wow Marty knows his machine. I’ve taken possession of a lot of machinery before for different companies and this is a very customer oriented turn over. I hate to say it but some companies throw you the keys and say good luck to ya. Marty definitely wants his customers to succeed with his machines and enjoy the experience!

Looking like a great machine and once your well acclimated the lumber will be flying for sure. For me, I would enjoy the simplexes of your old mill but hey, I'm a little past my prime ( so far past my prime, you could call me Mr. President). 😁

Good morning Mike, WOW!! The long awaited day for you and for all of us fans has finally arrived. To say this mill is an upgrade is just a little bit of an understatement, don't you think?? I use to always have a lot of my lumber custom sawn by a guy a few towns over. I was a log buyer and would select the best logs and I quarter cut a lot of my lumber. Some guys said I was wrong, but I just like the uniformity and stability in it and yes, I did have some plain sawn as well. I would go over and help of course and just had a great day in the process. While watching this video and being green with envy at the same time. I had a huge smile on my face and I'm pretty sure I could HEAR you smiling even bigger😊😊. You'll catch on to this pretty quickly and be going thru logs like crazy. I know the anticipation buying a new piece of equipment and finally getting your hands on it. So anxious and then a little fear of doing something and messing something up. I never had the opportunity to have an expert like Marty there with me on any of my things, but that also adds to the tension I bet. He sure seemed like a guy that loves his job and he'll be there when you need him. Your longest video that I'm aware of and for good reason, a BRAND NEW LT50 WIDE!!! Congratulations and take it slow. OMG….what a machine. I was scratching my head over all the functions. I’ve watched the cuts on older machine and could see myself cutting those support posts that come up.
What a fantastic machine! I guess it will help your learning curve that you have so many hours on the manual mill. Since you don’t have to walk through the sawdust with this mill maybe you could find/build some kind if trough to catch it. Then pick it up with the skid steer to empty it. It’s good your favorite machine colors are orange and black! 😂. When Marty mentioned someone offbearing for you I recalled I was an offbearer in a big old growth mill after high school. I was actually the 2nd offbearer. My uncle was the 1st offbearer. The blade for that head rig were about 12 to 14 inches wide. I had a blast working in that mill with my uncle.

Thanks for the video. After nine years with an LT35 we're finally upgrading to a 50. This was good video to get a heads up on the differences and especially the accused over the simple set.
It is a well thought out machine . The one thing I would have like to have seen is a centralized greasing location . Yes I think there would have to be a few seperate banks of fitting because of the moving carriage , and the distance between the components that require grease . But it would make that so much easier and a lot of value to the machine . Goodluck with the new machine Mike .

What an amazing machine. Another thing i was impressed with was the speed of cut, that thing really moves. Once you get on to this machine it is really going to speed things up. Good luck with the 50, I have purchased two mills from Marty over the last 12 years. I usually bring the mill out to Shade Gap for service and a full alignment in May or June. Great people and expert service.
That’s one nice mill. A lot of information to take in all at once, but as you get used to it….. that thing is going to make sawing so much easier. Have fun.

When my buddy's dad passed 15 years ago we moved his father's wood mizer to a farm in Evans City, just north of your location. We used it and left it there for the farmer to use. I worked with his dad on the machine some years before on a project and both times the machine was sweet to use. He would place some Lestoil in the water jug to keep the resin down. And as long as you don't his metal you are good. Custom cuts are a cinch with these machines. Having the grapple is a real plus for you too.
