Ex PDF man here so not wanting to criticize too much but is that level of visible rust to standard on a naval ship?
Love the new uniform especially the Ireland patch.
Impressed with the character and professionalism of the crew especially in conveying their role to the general public.
You should take a look at other navies after any length of time at sea, saltwater literally eats them.
its unavoidable on all ships. it lies on top of the paint so metalwork is rarely damaged
Must say the new navy uniform is might sick looking better then the bland one colour they had
So, I'm a Canadian Navy Veteran from waaaaay back.
Would someone please explain to me what the point of camouflage is on a ship?
WTF?
@@abrahamdozer6273 Apparently, they were trying to "visually connect" the uniforms with the other branches of the military so they based it off the usual defence forces woodland pattern.
@@Diamond-bd5ox Hmmm. Why haven't we done that in the Canadian Navy? No woods in the North Atlantic, I suppose.
Back when we had a fleet of 9 ships, now we cant even put 2 ships to sea in one of the largest EDZ in the EU, Old uniform was nicer, Looks like they are retiring paddy flage and introducing Multi-cam for the army so this Uniform is out of date before they were issued it.
Poli...and informative
Thanks machaaaa❤
👌👌👌

It's "HUGE!!!"
Pretty little Corvette, though.
❤️❤️❤️
It is starting to become a "Rust Bucket". Does that mean Irish Sailors are Lazy and not proud of their Big-Boat?
@@johndoe-ss9bz They rust as soon as you sail them to the sea. They stay nice and pretty if they just stay in port and do nothing.
Is the James Joyce a corvette or a frigate ? It certainly doesn't look like a destroyer.
It’s a battleship
@@മഞ്ഞപ്രക്കാരൻ- it is what, corvette or frigate ?
It’s a patrol boat.
I agree it is an improvement and they look good for what they are.
I noticed comments on another channel that the had the silhouette or profile of older UK frigates.
Maybe not surprising as they were built in a UK shipyard.
The Irish Navy have a relatively good recruitment campaign going on at the moment as the Irish Government realised they needed to invest in the Naval Service.

"Leadership, Comradeship, Partnership, Mentorship, Guardianship".
Inspiring ad, who ever thought of the 'ship' context was creatively brilliant!
Important to Ireland especially, after recent Russian incursions unto Irish territorial waters.
As a n ex Irish serviceman I tend to be pissed off a the public attitude towards our military and the lack of government investment.
However, not surprising considering the UK, the EU or the US would never allow anyone threaten or invade Ireland, all for their own reasons so politicians react to local pressures which are not military.
@@Mishima505 - Too big for just a patrol boat.
Look up oil panning on ships... interesting
Interesting!
Ship and equipment looks rusty which is an unusual standard for any naval vessel.
Standards of professionalism are traditionally high in Irelands small but effective military.
Lack of Government investment has created a situation where there was the minimum investment in equipment, resources and recruitment.
Leading to minimal servicing and lack of sufficient crew to carry it out.
Don't blame the messenger/crew.
Lol huge warship
I almost mistook it for an American carrier, it’s so huge
You're so funny.🙃
You mean the 🇺🇸 carriers with the Irish surnames 😂
Well, that's stupid.
@@dannymcnamara2554 Eisenhower?
@freebeerfordworkers Did you have a carrier named "Blarney"?
I hope it does not end up in the middle in general haftars navy 😂
Bit rusty in spots ?
It's only natural for a ship that's been at sea for 8 years, especially when dealing with the rough waves of the Atlantic.
👍
@@Diamond-bd5ox : 8 Years of Atlantic Storm. is the excuse for no rust removal touch up paint. You need a better excuse than that!
Onnu odich nokkarnu 😁
Odikkaan thannillaaaa🤪
Huge warship ? Sorry I don't think so...
Yes, it is…..
Wow so primitive no ballistic missiles😢
It's designed primarily for patrol, fisheries protection, drug interception and search and rescue. All the equipment on board is modern and up to date, so it's not primitive just not designed for all out war.
It's an opv(offshore patrol vessel) this type of ship is not generally armed with high end weaponry like missiles
No. No ballistic missiles. F-35Bs are missing, too.
Maybe, with the next budget ....
why so much rust?
Salt water does that.
Irish Navy l didn't think they had navy and vessel omg
@@jonathangower6704 six ships, 2 more arriving next spring.
@@goldiefish72 nice to hear go go Irish , need a few fighter jets also are they on the Christmas wish list hope so
Poor maintenance lack of manpower!
Somalia is better equipped than the Irish army😢
They are the most successful pirates on the sea at the moment. It's been centuries since the Irish could make that claim.
@@abrahamdozer6273 Why would you want to make that claim
@@Diamond-bd5ox This guy : "Somalia is better equipped than the Irish army"
His Mom disagrees 😆😆😆
Huge????? I don't think so. Its a toy.
Oh god 🙄
It’s a battleship
Looks bit of an old 'Rust Bucket"
That's what salt water does to metal, you'll find it on most vessels that have been on the sea for 6 years.
Definitely
It’s a battleship
Jesus the state of ammo box in shit rust everywhere 😮😮
I'm betting that 20mm mount hasn't been used in a while lol
It stays in salt water, so it can happen
