Fred is also called Oscar.... Spent some time on board of HMS Coventry and HMS London, as they're now part of the Romanian Navy as F221 Regele Ferdinand and F222 Regina Maria, during various naval exercises. Nice, comfortable frigates. It is a shame the government couldn't manage to refit them with up to date systems.
I love the analogue helm station! 💖 Also, Fred and his girlfriend didn't have an argument. It's just that she's not dressed for the UK outdoor weather... look at her! She's wearing a grass skirt. So she stays inside.
Love these boats. I was teaching their crews Level 3 first aid right up to their decommission. These boats are at their best when out at sea and you are scipping over the waves. They are the best example of simple and rugged designs even tho the foward hatches had a habit of leaking in the rain.
Scimitar is pronounced 'simitar' as I'm sure you must have heard it referred to.
Indeed - I must of been having a moment
Put two chain guns and two gpmg for protection of the vessel

I was on HMS Sheffield (Type 22 frigate) - they are indeed great ships 🫡⚓️
@@YachtBuoy Yes, I saw it in the video. That's why I mentioned the type 22 frigates in my comment.

😂 good point
Fast lethal vessel
If sabre is a boat it can’t be a ship! So why is it called HMS and not HMB Sabre?
Skimitar hahaha
I thought 'Skimitar' sounded better than 'Scimitar' - that's my excuse anyway!
This is currently for sale for 135k would make a great personal leisure craft
What a treat!!! Yes, I loved the analogue helm station, too!! I'm old school.
Thanks for watching 🙌 glad you enjoyed the video 👍 it was a joy to make ⚓️
Both HMS Sabre and HMS Scimitar were stationed at Gibraltar. And yes they do have Air conditioning ,I worked on them several times.
⚓️🫡
HMS Sabre served in Gibraltar for 20 years along with her sister ship HMS Scimiter
🫡 Having been decommissioned she is apparently now for sale for around 120k 😱
Who manufactures for the navy?
This boat was built in 1993, so it’s all changed since then. Thanks for watching 🙌
Builder VT Halmatic, Southampton RM Patrol Craft
HMS Sheffield was a Type 42. How did you get this wrong?
The Type 42 that was sunk in the Falklands was a T42 but the frigate that I served in in the 90s with the same namesake was a T22 🫡
Then I am a fool. I thought the Sheffield type 42 was the last of that name, until the Type 26 @@YachtBuoy
Nah, the Type 22 Sheffield was sold to the Chilean navy in the late 90s. I did know that a T26 was taking her name! Great to hear 🫡⚓️
Great video🙂

Love the fuzzy dice! 🎲🎲
Well spotted lol
Thanks, short but interesting...
Thanks for watching. I am gutted that I couldn't film the crew area or the engine room, but I understand the MoD's approach etc
Nice one :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Weird that the helm is not on the starboard side. Starboard means "steering board".
Thanks for sharing your wisdom. But the royal navy guys think it is star-board 😂😂😂😂
Great Video. I really like patrol craft and always wanted to convert won into my own person yacht.

Teaching as a civilian or as a matelot? Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment 🙌
@@YachtBuoy Oh I'm a Matelot. I help look after the smaller ships like P2000's, Opv's and MCMV's as they don't have medics
RIP HMS Invincible 😢
Only aircraft carrier sunk in the Falkland war.
All hands lost 😢
stupidly incorrect
