    As always very informative!
You not only make me want to drink the wines (which I expect from every video in which you explain wines or regions), but you also make me want to visit these places. So you are a master of wine but also a good travel agent 😉

I got turned on to Auguste Clape’s Cornas by a fellow wine lover. It is an incredibly well made and delicious version of Cornas. Would be fun to have you taste one of those. Cheers 🥂

Pope Clement, yes! I could easily get by on Rhones alone. An excellent series. I had Cornas with roast duck with pomegranate mollasses.

The best experience I’ve ever had with a wine was a Guigal La Mouline. Every tiny sip blew me away

Thank you for telling us more about the northern Rhone. Did not know that there are only so few vinyards on the northern Rhone compared to the southern part. All in all I have got the impression that the Rhone is still rather unknown at all. Of course not among wine freaks but if you ask casual wine drinkers about French wine I am pretty sure the would als name Bordeaux, Burgundy und Champagne but not the Rhone region.

That is true and it is a bit of a shame ... but it also means that the wines are often a very good value proposition.

I so love Hermitage wines, too bad they are quite expensive - Syrah at its best.
    .
BTW: When can we see a tasting of sweet desert wines? Sauternes, Germany in all its splendor and diversity of course, Coteaux du Layon, Canadian Icewine, Alsace Vendanges Tardives etc....?

Konstantin, many thanks for the clear and informative video. Could you please recommend some of your favourite producers of Northern-Rhône-style Syrah in the mid-price range (

It would help if you can put the names you mention on the screen--trying to keep up is taxing.

Another great video, could be helpful for learning if you also included some text (i.e. the spelling of a grape when you say it etc.)

Love the channel, binge it every chance I get! But Pope John XXII built the castle that established CdP, right? He was the successor to Clement VII that built the infrastructure and helped set the rules for CdP viticulture, right?

Thank you. The Chateauneuf was originally built a long time before both of them. Clement moved the papacy to Avignon and John took over from him as far as I know.

Bei meinelese.de habe ich den Crozes Hermitage Pontaix, Dumien Serrette Henri und Ju de Vie Rouge im Angebot. Alles Syrahs. Ansonsten empfehle ich Chapoutier, Graillot, Piedrasassi, Penfolds.

You need to expand your horizons a bit, and a great place to start would be syrah from British Columbia, Canada. 👍🍷

Interesting that white grapes are used in red wine. Italy’s been getting rid of using white grapes in red wine. What about Cote Rôtie? Isn’t that most Syrah if not all Syrah?

    • @KonstantinBaumMasterofWine
      @KonstantinBaumMasterofWine  3 роки тому +1

They are allowed to use Viognier in Cote Rotie. Cornas is the only area that has to be 100% Syrah
