Picking up a 1963 original Saturday and need to remove the 38 inch mower to get the cc into the Maverick bed. Your video is just what I needed. The and nice instruction.
Cub Cadet built there first mower in 1961, The Cub Cadet Original , fenders and lights and rear hitch were all accessories you could buy. And sometimes can be worth more then the little tractor itself can be worth.
When I was a kid, we had a 1961 7hp Cub Cadet. I know when I removed the mower I didn’t remove the linkages from those side brackets. Maybe it was wrong, but it worked for me. That 7hp and 36” deck cut a lot of grass. I loved that tractor.
I never had a Cub back then in 1961when I was a kid but I sure wanted one! All I had was a push mower and the yard was all hill.. The neighbors had one and I always told myself....someday,...someday!!!
You may find the year through the serial number which is stamped into the transmission casting on the right side by the filler plug. And you were close with the 'mule pulleys'. That arrangement is referred to as a 'Mule Hitch', so they would be mule hitch pulleys.
Great video. Hopefully more to come about the Ih Cub Cadet original. Blades and spindles assembly on the mower deck? Maybe just tear down and reassemble?
I have this mower, Can't get that side feed carb to start like yours. Thinkig about re-powering with a new engine just so I can ride it arount the farm. I'd like to see the plow, I have the snow blower, but I bet the plow is alot simpler to hook up.
I recently bought one and find that even with the blades disengaged, the blades continue to spin. Is that just a matter of adjusting it properly ? Or is it common problem ?
i think it is newer than a 61, the first year for the original. it may be a 52. the 61 had no fenders or headlights. my 61 is blessed with a hydraulic rear lift.
I believe fenders and lights were optional features. The lights were the same as used on some Farmall tractors and are next to impossible to find today and even if you do you may have to mortgage your house to buy them.

They were great machines.

Leave it original engine.replace carb . I’ll buy from you? lol
What size are the cotter pins and washers?

Nice old mower
simple rugged machines.
Shame on you for using the 19mm socket on that machine. There are not any metric fasteners on that machine.
Convert 19mm to inches and see what it is. Hint, few thou from 3/4.
You are 100% correct.
The last thing I want to hear while working on an old cub cadet is anything to do with millimeters.

Hydraulic rear lift ? I’d love to see a picture
