  • Sabine Schmitz & BMW M5, a legendary duo. I bought this 1 of 1364 6-speed E60 M5s at an auction. It arrived dead with a see-through bottom end and a locked engine. I proceeded to revive it fully, and dedicate its revival to one and only, Sabine Schmitz and her V10 M5 Ring Taxi.

    The laying under a car, laughing deliriously when things aren't going your way, using your leg to operate the jack, man...we can all relate to Sreten on that one, we've all been there. The giggle during the first drive makes it all worth it!
    This is definitely our favorite project of yours and the best ending we could have imagined with the tribute to Sabine. Well done. Can't wait to host you here in Va at BimmerWorld soon!

When whistlindiesel has more subs than M539, that should tell you everything you need to know about kids these days and how our parents have failed us. Wow that got deep.

    My son and I went to a BMW day at Silverstone race circuit in the UK in 2006. Sabine was there with a white E60 M5 and offering hot laps on the F1 circuit. We went out with her twice. Sabine's car control was amazing, we spent most of the lap looking out the side windows so see track coming up. I will never forget that experience. The M5 had to be rested once every hour to allow the tyres and brakes to cool down. Happy days. Sabine was lovely and engaged with us through out the drive and even during power slides, pure class.

    Sabine Schmitz, "Queen of the Nürburgring," left a lasting legacy in the world of motorsport that goes far beyond the titles she won or the records she set. She was not just a racing driver but a vibrant personality who brought passion, humour, and boundless energy to everything she did. Sabine Schmitz was a force of nature, and the track will never be the same without her. But her spirit endures in every lap taken by those who, like her, know that driving isn’t just about speed-it's about heart. This car epitomises her spirit. I was devastated when I leaned of her death. I was genuinely sad to the point of tears. I wanted to ride the taxi ring with her at the wheel, but sadly that ship has sailed. Thank you Sreten.

    • @DirectInput
      @DirectInput 4 дні тому

      @@R03333 I'm just going to cut in here: a friend of mine crashed his Audi S3 like a month after he bought it. Somebody cut him off on the highway and slammed their brakes, so crushed the front end pretty badly. He borrowed my garage for a couple of weekends and with the help of some beers we rebuilt the entire front end of the car, all the way to the front of the engine. None of us had done anything more than basic maintenance before that, but it's wasn't that hard. Almost everything on a car is designed to be taken apart in a somewhat logical way, and reassembly is basically doing every step in revers order. There really isn't much more to it. Everything you need to know, like special tools/procedures, torque specs and tolerances, are widely available online for most cars. UA-cam is a gold mine to learn stuff (like this very channel). But yeah, rest in piece your wallet either way. Cars are expensive :(

Now, I drive a 2016 f15 with the n63tu which I service myself, from the suspension to the engine, passing by the brakes and all the electronics/ electric parts.. You have quickly become one of my favorite channels on UA-cam, I wasn't a big BMW guy before I discovered your videos but now I'm looking for one of my own (e46 or e90) You've also permanently changed my wrenching habits for the better, I used to cut a lot of corners when working on vehicles but now I take pride in doing it by the book.

    Say something about all these series - is like a say nothing. I am struggling to find a right words to describe what do i feel now, after watching this last episode. Perfection? Not enough.. Great job? Like say meaningless Hello. Just grab all good feelings and words you can imagine in your headbox and - they are all here. Just a huge human thanks for this series. Thanks to Top Gear team, so i do know who Sabine is. And this knowledge it made feelings about these series even warm... God Bless You, Sreten (all all people, who has been involved in this Project). God Bless You!

    This has to be the best video I've watched on your channel to date! Every time I tune in and see a video posted by M539 Restorations, I know I'm in for a treat and absolutely delighted that it's over an hour long! This was really special, each time you had goosebumps...yeah I had them too, you brought another amazing machine back to life and paid tribute to an amazing driver...ehm let me re-phrase that....the Queen of the Ring...RIP Sabine Schmitz, you are a legend and will stay in our hearts forever!

  • @JoeWolsing

    Wow, just wow! Everything about this project is cool. What you did, where you did it, the result including the homage to Sabine Schmitz and your visit of the Monterey event. What a journey! Now try to find some rest and sleep well. Congrats for this project.
    Edit:
    I have to get this of my chest (with no idea if you read it).
    Life can be short and disappointing. Therefore it makes sense to try to live your dreams. You did so in a very impressive way by reviving these machines. While doing so you make experiences like this one that are amazing even if we followers experience them "only" second handed. But I think most of us are very happy, that you let us be a part of. Thanks a lot for sharing

    The incredible and sad thing at the same time is that no EV will ever be able to generate the feelings, emotions, fascination, and passion that there is in the world of combustion engines and related events. Sreten's passion is unique and ignites the hearts of BMW fans and “real” car enthusiasts in general. None of this exists in the EV world, it is all fake and aseptic, there is no passion or love. There are the same feelings that people might have for a refrigerator or a microwave oven. It might be the most beautiful refrigerator in the world, but it is still a refrigerator. Thank you Sreten for what you do and share with us.

    I've been following this channel for quite some time, and I believe this was the first time it truly made me both emotional and happy at the same time. The tribute to Sabine Schmitz ( The "Queen of the Nürburgring"), the Nürburgring ring taxi, and all the memories tied to BMW's history really hit hard. On top of that, seeing Sreten's genuine emotion broke me. I have to admit, by the end, I had tears running down my face. Thank you man for your passion making these videos !!
