Hey! I've got a content suggestion : I think many of us wouldn't know where to buy good quality basics : great jeans, white cotton shirt, trench coat, leather perfecto or timeless handbag. Maybe you could help out with your brands & factories knowledge ?
this is quite simple to find. Levi’s jeans, just search “100% cotton tee pack” and you’ll find white ones, the last three you state will honestly require YOU to research yourself. those aren’t cheap nor items you just buy online without ever trying on. please just find local places go try the items on, feel them and determine for yourself the quality and price point you want to spend.
Right. Where to buy anything of quality in today's world is going to be the known as the mystery of this millennium. I'm afraid we're going to eventually just revert to trying things on, or generally taking our time with each garment before making purchases. It's almost like life literally takes longer because of the diminished standards and values of an always outsourced commercial environment.
As someone starting a label, this content is genuinely some of the best I’ve come across. Super thankful for the detail and information, that is so often gate kept. Super dope. 🙏🏻
Dude these videos and ur chanel are sick , im currently a fashion student and its cool seeing what im learning in my textiles class in real world applications
the undercut to skaters and the attention to detail is funny. skate culture provides so many style notes to fashion for a reason. skaters are tasteful people and pay crazy attention to detail, especially in their craft, media, and fashion (quality included). skating alone needs so much attention to detail.
The reason for the double knit rib should be clear. The rib look on the outside is substantial - and what you have to go with to look big and chunky - but it also has a tendency to spread as it is much more sweater like. to stop that some people put a small amount of lycra yarn into the knit - to have it bounce back, but that is almost always visible - and gives a plastic feel. If you double knit with the much less elastic single jersey on the back side, it will keep its taughtness and shape better during wear and wash. I've made millions of sweats all over the world, and all of these are stylistic choices, accommodations, and just like one of you said, sometimes something the factory experimented with once, and then just started pushing out to their customers as a special aspect. Often the buyers and product managers don't like to get into that level of understanding - and they end up just sticking with the factory because - stuff from them just feels different. Another thing is how often the choices are made based on whatever inspiration sample the buyer had in that moment. The supreme very clearly has every hallmark of a 1990 Champion Reverse Weave - which would have cost $49 retail even back then - which they may have picked up at a vintage shop - and the dryness, weight and details just made the entire thing seem "perfect" The blue marks on the inside are from the factory and are to line up where the embroideries should go - and tend to go away in the wash. The one guy should know you don't really have any minimums on garment dying - maybe 50pieces depending on what size tubs you are working with - but also what your tolerances are on consistency. I do have to say I am very impressed with hitting the 500 exactly on such a light colorway - I would be interested to know what a dark color comes out at, my guess would be 512gsm. The grey heather marl - looking from outside is not YARN DYED - it is fibre dyed usually...can also be achieved with yarn dying a blended yarn (Meaning CVC) where the cotton takes on the color more than the poly. But the classic Grey Heather that is used on so many sweats is dyed at cotton fibre level in a blow room BEFORE it is spun into yarn - with big books of what color shades you are looking for. If you are not picking a yarn and color that is on stock - this could increase minimums tremendously - as these blow rooms are a pain in the kiester to clean up and set up.
That horizontal weave you are talking about is the hallmark of Champion's classic premium sweatshirts. It was Champion that introduced this technique, patented I think back in the 1930s, and it's called Reverse Weave - shrink resistant, durable, and made to last. All things in this line are clearly marked on the label.
Yup These guys know a LOT about fabric - down to that it is carded yarn, and such. But I am very surprised how little they know of classic Champion reverse weave...17-18oz was the standard (500gsm) - and you find almost no one going over 360 today. But if you own any of the 1990 type ones anymore - you know every supreme detail is like taking an old 1990 Champion and just copying it. Yes - 500gsm was quite substantial and normal - as was the way too heavy doubled hood....but if worn in winter in NYC - that is the only time you are pulling it up over your head and thankful
Yeah those champion reverse weave hoodies are still some of the best hoodies you can get, it’s really all I buy. the shape stays so perfect through washes and dries.
This Palace hoodie is their "premium" line, with the white tag on collar. Their hoodies or tees don't always have the white Palace tag, they sometimes have the Triferg logo printed on inside of the collar instead. These one are less expensive and are a bit less quality, from my experience. I am always very satisfied with Palace though. I like your content a lot, keep it up ! 😊
That’s so funny I’ve bought Palace for years but never knew this 😂 I guess it’s because I don’t really buy their shirts or hoodies ever, only jackets accessories headwear collabs etc.
Great video. I’m interested to see if you guys could do a Spring/Summer hoodie from Supreme. This was a Fall/Winter one so they’re typically thicker to combat the NY cold, but the Spring/Summer ones are SLIGHTLY less thick
I think you also need to consider which season collection that the hoodie belong. Some brand made their fall winter item heavier and summer thinner. That supreme looks like it from FW and the Palace is from Summer
pre-2016 supreme hoodies are way thicker/heavier than the current Supreme hoodies. The current supreme hoodies are boxy, loose fitting and not as heavy. I always find myself going back to the Champion reverse weave hoodies are great and affordable!!!!
I have a 2016 box logo hoodie it does feel different. The box logo is more bendable and the blank has that stiff dry feeling they discussed. The new hoodies have a hard box logo and the blanks are kinda similar to fog essentials, has a soft blanket interior and is thinner. The cuffs and side panel feel the same. The new hoodies are wack tbh I try to shop for older box logos
Bro is same heavyweight. You need choice style hoodie. Bc supreme not all hoodie use same fabric. Only few designs hoodie will use same like bogo quality hoodie
The same material champion reverse weave hoodies for a fraction of the price of supreme. Champion the company that actually invented the reverse weave hoodie.
I don't even buy shirts because of brand or look, so you don't even need to buy because others says you should or shouldn't be buying from a specific brand. I go off of shape and quality of fabric. The shirts I have been wearing for the past 5 years come from Walmart and they are great quality. Sorry I won't give away what brand and I am not the only one that knows because they always sell out of the ones I buy now a days, so it looks like I might have to buy another brand from elsewhere, which I am upset about, because the price I buy them for is unbeatable for the quality
Watching this as a knitter is so funny to me. The rib on one side, flat on the other makes sense to me! It would help how the rib sits and be more comfortable against the skin
I currently own a Supreme box logo hoodie as well as a Palace Trifold hoodie. The cost for the supreme hoodie was $168 and the Palace hoodies was $158. Shipping was $10 for Supreme and $12 for Palace. I really do like both but I do agree the Supreme hoodie is very stiff, which is not ideal for just lounging around. Also the neck area is very tight which does kind of feel like you're being choked. However, it is a very durable hoodie so you could easily skate and fall with it on and not worry about it ripping. The Palace hoodie is a lot softer and a little baggier. My biggest problem with the Palace hoodie is that it's 80% cotton and 20% Polyester. For a $158 hoodie, the fact there is polyester in it is quite insulting and shows where they are cutting corners. Not only that, but it's made in a sweatshop in vietnam, whereas the Supreme hoodie is 100% cotton and made in Canada (Most of their T-shirts are also made in USA). Lastly, it depends on the style, but it's very rare for Palace to have embroidery on their hoodies, whereas Supreme it's very rare to NOT have embroidery on their hoodies. I believe you get more for your money with the Supreme hoodie.
This was a fascinating video that surprisingly kept my attention the whole time. I don’t own either brand but good to know not all clothing is manufactured in Asia. I was rather surprised how much the Supreme hoodie cost to make and that the brand is keeping it premium. What’s the name of the brand at 9:20?
Thats actually not a bad idea, crowd source a purchase of Loro Piana or Brioni or Kiton and do the video. I would love to see the evaluation. I'd love to know where those products are made as well.
Can you do a updated vid for Supreme? As of recent their hoodies now are 80% cotton and 20% polyester...a Nike Supreme hoodie would be dope as well to compare
Any videos that breaks down explaining the different fabrics? I know to stay away from Polyester and Acrylic, but what about Viscose and Rayon? Obviously Silk, Wool, Cotton, Linen are good.
Supreme = New York. There's intention behind that hoodie. But great, was going to use the same factory. Don't believe all their stuff is made this way.
I support Skateboarding and the Culture of it. I suck at it personally, and at 34, not going to try and re-learn it. But, I do support the shit out of Palace, I notice a few small details myself that were mentioned in this video. While Palace's clothes do run almost a size smaller, the fabric is 100x better than Supreme. I own a few Supreme hoodies and a good example of what they were referring to with the "heaviness" would be the Supreme x Crow hoodie they dropped in 2022 I believe.
what other companies make quality sweaters at the $100-150 mark? Annoyed with the fast fashion sweaters that get frayed or shrink an entire size after a few washes, but are still $25-50.
Nice review and breakdown video. This Supreme hood is built for the cold uk weather and places like NY, Canada and Europe. You've got to add that into your assessment like you've add the fact its good for protection when falling as a skateboarders. I mean after all this is a street brand.

Often the minimums are also higher - because of transshipment - where the goods were made in China, a whole container is sent to the other country and papers are exchanged - and the container is NEVER opened.
160$ is crazy expensive but because it is supreme so they do target a specific consumers. And being too heavy if the fabric is rough then sure it is not a good fabric, but with such GSM and nice smoothly hand feel it is absolutely a good choice
@@AMagdyy the thick fabrics is so when you skate it you can still wear it rougher fabrics don’t tear as easily from my experience got to remember both started as are skate company’s even if they are boutique fashion brands now

Proper!!! Give me bang for buck, even church me a little bit more, but make it worth my while, want me to buy it because the quality is there and the extra money is worth it
