Gosh we used to get these in for repair many moons ago. They were state of the art when they were new as with most of these BVMs and PVMs. I work for a company which is a Sony repair centre. The modern stuff is really good too. For a while Sony made these LCD monitors in the same form factor as CRTs. Great set of videos ! I would really love a Sony D24-E1WE at some point.
Aw man Steve I'm so glad I donated that monitor to you, I knew you would be able restore it to it's former glory. Too bad it's not as modular as the bigger BVMs, nevertheless, you worked your magic on it and it looks phenomenal. I can really tell how much better the picture looks now compared to when I sent it to you.
I know how hard it can be to record a CRT on resolutions above 240p, but you should show some 720p or 1080i too. I really enjoy watching Netflix or even Blu Rays on my multiformat monitors! Thanks for the great content Steve
Yeah, Thanks again. I want to do another video coming up going over the 3 different multi-format Sony Pro CRTs and all the different formats. I've got a good DVD/BR player that works well with these.
I really liked your channel, I have a crt sony pvm 20l2 that is with some problems that came up, but I'm very sad because at the moment I don't have time to look better at it, I recently bought a capacitor tester to try to see if the His problem may be old capacitors.
@@BasedPajeet Here is a example of one at work. The ones that work for Sony Trinitrons are very expensive. Basically is a way to restore older tubes (very commonly used for arcades) ua-cam.com/video/_kgy7CCsEBQ/v-deo.html
Hi Retrotech, Big fan and subscriber here. I recently found an NOS BVM 20" tube for a $200 dollars. It looks like swapping out a tube on a BVM is a fairly straightforward forward job that doesn't require any specialized tools, am I right in that?
I've ordered a BVM-14F5E monitor and am considering ordering a 14MZ1 back-up tube. Is it possible to use a different tubetype like the 14MZ3 or will I risk incompatibility or even damaging that tube?
Nice video :) Do you saw that linearity issue on a scroll test that i was talking about? Bearly visible on a 3D games but 2D paltformer you should see it. I am wondering why the heck the screw it up.
@@RetroTechUSA Hi, you can use 240p test suite for snes and check the horizontal scrolling test or mega man 1 for nes, this should reveal that issue :) Check the left side of the screen, from middle to the left.

Me too. Thank you again. I'm really happy with the end result.

Awesome work as usual Steve!
Thank You Rany!
Future proofing? Now this will be interesting to see Steve. 8^)

Are you keeping those old tubes for now incase you someday get a rejuvenator?
Yes, as long as there isn't any screen burn.
May I know what does that do?

@@Demokirby FYI: Just want to let you know that people in their comments section, said they rejuvenated their C.R.T., on the incorrect setting.

0:51 Notice the bug at the top right 🤣🤣🤣
Would a rejuvenator work on this tube?

What's a good game or two that I can use to see it? I'm not sure I've noticed it yet.

I'm planning on doing a tube swap with two 32 inch wegas. Any advice on handling those big tubes?
Well, just make sure you have a friend or two that are physically fit to help you out. Those are back breakers.
@@RetroTechUSA alright thanks. I think i might pull the tube out screen side down so that it's weight holds it in place until I'm ready to remove it.
Wooow 😵👌
I wish you would have shown how to dislodge the G Board. You skipped right over that
A 2D game would have been preferred to see on this rather than a 3D game, but nice work nonetheless.
I want you to future proof my PVM! Why do you have to live so far away?!?
Where are u based?
Thought I would learn something, got a music video instead.
I find it hard to learn anything from this channel.
Cut the leads after soldering they look so messy
stephen schneider pretty sure your the sperg bro. Macs right, don’t leave your solder work like that
Don't feel bad about your Black gameplay, this game poorly aged ^-^
This is really too
Much work
