Awesome work. It's pretty amazing how first impressions tell me the PVMs are to the Sony Multiscan CRT computer monitors. Of course I haven't taken the PVM apart as I don't own even one but I have a few of the Sony Computer CRT displays and consumer grade RGB SCART displays and I can't tell you how beautiful the Sony's were. They were the cream of the crop.
What I would like to know is: Can recapping help with convergence issues or is it only possible to improve convergence using convergence strips (and convergence ring adjustments)?
Hi I have a super trinitron that i want to restore (it has no logo and the front plastic is cracked). When I connect my gamecube and launch Animal Crossing, the picture looks really good, entire screen filled etc. If I connect my NES, the colors are horrible, lots of black bars, blurry areas, unfocused areas etc. Would recapping fix this? I just watched a bunch of videos on discharging a crt which now seems pretty easy so I might do it if it would fix this. I ordered a logo on aliexpress though 😁
Hi, great content, i have a question, i after cleanning my Samsung Syncmaster i've connected the bigger cable(the flat one with many wires) that comes out of the logic board to the power supply board inverted and tried to turn it on, then realized the mistake, conected it right and checked everything, and now the monitor keeps blinking and making the degauss noise repeatedly and shows no image. Do you know what could it be? Thanks.
Do you have link for a good dialectric grease? Is it worth picking up a CRT that has stood in the rain several days. Is it possible to get it work agian by cleaning and drying it?
Hello from Spain!! I Would like to know which is the Best option to connect a super nes pal with a tv Bang olufsen mx4000, i can only connect to scart but i dont know if using a hd retrovision cable with scart adaptar is Best, thanks in advance
if very white objects on video leave a trail over dark backgrounds, does that have something to do with capacitors? or is it a normal thing about how CRTs work?
@@cedmontreal3296 Yeah, I found that video and am following his instructions. I'm actually doing it right now. Only tricky part is connecting the monitor to the power to turn it on to add the convergence tapes.
@@vodkagobalsky oh I remember having the same issue. I ended up loosing the ties inside and taking the wires out. A better way would be to own a spare cab wiring which I ended up buying for my second blast monitor. By the way, the french video needs a hell lot more of warnings. Please check for safety procedures if you never did this before. The way the french guy remove the suction cup with his bare hands without discharging first (on the video) is one of the most dangerous thing you can do. Never do that. Be safe.
@@cedmontreal3296 Yeah, I'm very careful when handling the monitor. Every time I'm going to touch it, I discharge it first. I did undo the ties in the chassis. I've just finished washing everything. After I recap the monitor PCB. I'll hook it back up and fix the convergence.
Are those red grid lines only reachable from the inside knobs? I have a control panel at the front sliding out, but I can’t seem to get the red gridlines when playing with the setting screws on the panel
I remember the History channel had a show called American Restoration Steve. The channel needs to have you on there witha new show called, American Electronic Restoration, I think that would be a hit with you bro. 8^) Anthony..
Could you collaborate with me on the full manul of that pvm? I'd appreciate it. I've already asked you in previous videos. I have a pvm1443md from the same medical series with synchronization failure. That pvm supports pal and nts signals.
Hey Steve, I'm a new fan of yours, just found out about your channel the other day, thank you for the great content you produce! I've got a quick question if you don't mind: I got myself a Sony Trinitron KV-25FX30K CRT and service menu says it has 19k hours of use. Wanted to know how big of hours used this number is and should I worry that it could die any time soon due to these much hours?
Glad to see this niche channel slowly growing. It's a great information resource. Keep it up dude. Stay safe and healthy.

I have a PVM from September 1997 with very similar convergence issues. Glad to see that a recap could potentially fix some of them.
wow what an extremely useful video for those with this monitor. Thanks for making this.
12:12 where are the links that are mentioned? I think they were forgotten. They aren't listed in the video description.
They pop up in the suggested videos bubble that appears as he chats. Watch the video in full
parents: stop sitting so close to the t.v. you'll go blind!

I have one that is getting a bit smaller on the middle, recapping it will help with that? What parts of the circuit do i need to recap?
I am noticing convergence issues on my Blast City monitor. I was wondering what's the best way to go about recapping it.
