Just subbed Dr. Shaddox's channel. Good stuff. I need to make a video so I can be featured on B&R. The exposure would help me reach 1k lol. 😂

Any data on long term use of polymers?
I was doing licensed applications as these emerged and it was a leg up over SCU.
I find polymer shells in my my soil, long after an application- even after a lawn aeration, but I see them in my veggie plots.
They don't seem to go any place-
What about long term use of liquid polymers and their place in the soil structure? If I can see old polymers from an application last year from coated fertilizer, what about the liquid ones you can't see and what happens to that material?
Are we covering our soil in plastic?
Not trying to be a greenie, just curious about long term use- which wouldn't have any negative effect on turfgrass. This question is more geared towards ornamental and agriculturial applications.

Complex.question because it depends on the type of polymer
All plastics are polymers, but not all polymers are plastic
Basically a polymer is just a complex of monomers - monomers react with other monomers to form a chain = polymer
There are easily degradable, "natural" polymers like sodium methylcellulose that absorb water and biodegrade
Methylene urea is a polymerized urea, but the complex urea/carbon chains are fully eaten/digested in the soil
Polymer coated urea, a plastic shell, may not be biodegradable - like PVC or other polyacrylic materials, that are often used.
So yes, in some instances, it's a real issue that we may be covering everything in plastics. Good. Was/bad news, most controlled release non-biodegradeable polymers are used in turf

Matt made a comment regarding spraying the nitrogen and didn't seem to be a fan. Is it better to broadcast the AMS? I'm thinking spraying it will give you better coverage compared to spreading the prills as they hit the lawn and don't give you complete coverage.

I was cackling more at the nozzle selection and drift.
Pick your poison as to whatever is easiest. I personally prefer to spread. Rey would rather spray 10 acres than spread 1 acre.
There's no right or wrong, just preference

    Second Comment on aquatic weeds-
You don't believe LT Rich can produce a mechanical harvester?
    C'mon man...

      @TheGrassFactor  9 місяців тому +1

John Deere or Permagreen! I don't know about LT Rich. 150 miles of shoreline might be tough on a machine that sinks to the frame on a lawn after a 2" rain fall 😅🤣

One is actually being used on Lake Okeechobee- FAG, aka fish and game would rather spray which is the cause of the red tide.
Private people have used this harvester, not divers doing it by hand, and have composted the weeds. The government wants to spray....
Matt needs a Panhandle Stripe on his lawn for calling me out! 😂❤😂
I honestly believe mechanical harvesting can turn an expense into profit with some right minds doing the right thing.
