For my recent birthday, I grabbed a pizza and watched all 3 released John Wick movies back-to-back-to-back. They are all THAT GOOD for a binge-watching evening. You should look up Taran Tactical's channel and watch Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry training in 3-gun discipline for the John Wick movies (she's in "John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum"). The lead instructor and owner of the school, Taran Butler, is a world-championship professional shooter. Watching Keanu shred in 3-gun (pistol, rifle, shotgun) is a Ballistic Ballet.
There's a lot of details I love about this movie, but I think one of the coolest, is the dog he takes at the end, there's a big ol stamp saying, "to be put down" on the paperwork. It's easy to miss on first viewing. So he doesn't just steal someone's dog, he rescues a puppy from death.
@@NewfieMovieReactions - You missed a LOT of details... you talked over most of the dialogue, then ended up being confused about things they'd fully explained.
@@Mr.Ekshin Fair point, but such is the nature of any “reaction” video. Due to the copyright limitations, they kinda *have to* talk over the footage/dialogue in order to have content to use in videos. The tattoo on back John's back that reads "Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat", translated from Latin into, "fortune favors the bold" Fun fact, the director Chad Stahelski was brought in as a body double for Brandon Lee in the 1994 film The Crow following Brandon's death.
Marcus was always on John's side. Everyone who reacts to this movie thinks exactly what you did that he was a villian. The coins aren't a currency they are a social contract which is explained in a later movie. When Francis tells John how many kilos, not pounds, he lost it is the number of guards in the club. There are lots of things like this hidden in all three movies.
Yes, that was Big Sexy Kevin Nash. Love that cameo so much. Gave us a little insight to their relationship (seems like they like each other) and I think John was secretly asking how many guards were in the club and Nash let him know. Wick then says to his friend "you should probably take the rest of the night of buddy".
One of the best things about these movies is that there is no neverending magazine in the guns like a lot of action movies. The bullet counts are accurate for the weapon being used and Keanu Reeves training in martial arts and weapons handling is just unbelievable for a guy of 50+ years of age.
Just a couple comments here. When Viggo was hiring Marcus (this line was edited out) after he asked Marcus "Would you kill John Wick for 2 million dollars?". Marcus replies, "is the contract exclusive?" to which Viggo replies "No, it's open". Meaning that ANYONE can fill the contract. Marcus needed to know this and when told the contract was open he immediately started to shadow John and doing what he could to keep him alive. (including warning him about Perkins with the bullet shot right next to his head while John was lying in bed) John Wick has the Latin phrase "Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat" tattooed on his back. It means Fortune Favors The Brave. (or The Bold)
Fun fact, Keanu actually trained with firearms and learned to do all the combat and has become amazingly proficient. You can see videos of him online at shooting ranges.
@@Blackdog06019- Doubtful. He’s good, but not that good. His teacher, Taran Butler, estimated he was about an A or Master level shooter. Taran Butler himself is a Grand Master.
I love the whole history they created throughout the movies about the hotels and the association itself, from the high table to the coins and everything in between
In a world that had gotten soft and largely forgotten how to make good action movies, the people who made the John Wick moves stepped up and gave us what we really needed. And turned it up way past 11, to 25.
I find it funny how long it takes so many people to understand the Continental. I got it from the moment he walked into the Club and Winston said Rules.
That was Kevin Nash. Kevin said in an interview that the comment of him losing over 60 KG wasn't referring to weight but was tipping John Wick off that over 60 security guards awaited him inside.
They messed with the wrong former assassin for hire in this action adventure thriller! When they killed the dog, it wasn't just a pet, it was supposed to represent John having a normal life, but when they killed the dog, they took away his one chance of happiness.
Where I'm from, a normal person would take the path John takes. Though, it would wind up being more along the lines of a "half a state's worth of rednecks makes the mafia mysteriously disappear" than "one man wrecking crew".
love that these movies don't use jump cuts for the action scenes. you actually get to see it play out in full takes and some long takes. really makes the action feel real and visceral
The most realistic parts of the fighting for me is that real fights are dirty and messy, and everyone gets hurt. Most films show the protagonist almost unharmed, maybe a bruise or a cut, but this shows how ungainly and dirty fighting really is. Love that John gets hurt and quite badly. It's more realistic. Bring on number 2!
The tattoo is Latin: "fortis fortuna adiuvat". Most people translate it to "Fortune Favors the Bold," but that's not quite right. It's more accurately rendered "fortune helps the strong". It's a proverb about being competent and prepared to handle anything life throws at you.
The director of this movie is/was Keanu Reeves stunt double. I think that’s why the action is so well done and filmed, they know how to make it look good.
This movie should be taught in film school for demonstrating "show, don't tell." The subtle details that viewers are shown in the Wick universe that they have to figure out, like the gold coins. All of these and more are plot points that viewers are able to question and see how it all fits together instead of just an exposition dump by a character, and it draws us in, cementing us into being engaged with the film and characters. I mean, it takes over a half hour just to learn who the main character is!! BRILLIANT lol

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) was born Jardani Jovonovich in Belarus. He was an orphan, and was taken in by the Tarasov Russian Mafia where he was raised as an assassin. He was so ruthless that the mafia boss Viggo Tarasov respected and feared him. At the beginning of the first film, Wick had been retired from being a hitman for five years. Peace out.

During his fight with Viggo John guided the knife to where he was stabbed earlier at the club. Definitely need to keep going with the John Wick series. They have 4 coming out next year and are already working in 5.
I am convinced John not saying anything to Viggo is a Easter egg for the Allison Krause song: "It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart. Without saying a word you can light up the dark. Try as I may, I could never explain what I hear when you don't say a thing... You say it best when you say nothing at all."

Hi consider " nobody" also ,it was made by same John wick team ( dir , producer, stunts) and many say it's as good.
The filmmakers choosing to have the dog killed was narrative genius. They needed the viewer to get behind killing 77 people.
After the kid kills that puppy we don't care how many people Wick has to kill to get to him.
@@ronweber1402 exactly that’s the point.
It was actually Keanu’s idea for the dog to die. He didn’t feel harming the dog and stealing his car was enough to send him over the edge.
You're right anybody that John kills is completely justified through his unrestricted desire for revenge.
Killing 77 people is a LIGHT day for Mr Wick.
