- Welcome back to Sons of the Forest! In this video I show you how I built a pretty awesome base in 50 days in the game! It took a lot of learning and getting used to the building but I have made a base that I'm proud of! The original footage for this video was over 15 hours so it's heavily cut down! ENJOY!

On my playthough, I spent a good while making my base. I made a tree house in it as well. Kelvin decided to cut that specific tree with the tree house in it, which landed on my base. Kelvin gets to sit outside the base now.

just build a little wall around the tree so he cant get the tree :) or dont let him pickup logs, i mean he is bad ad getting logs xD i always use him to get sticks, rocks and fish. and let him finisch the building things :D
@Kesshox Cryyx He was actually finishing a structure. I told him to finish the lookout tower. I come back to him relaxing next to the destruction. Lol. I even had disposable logs near it. So now he's just a stick and stone guy. Near the base at least. Might give the wall a try!

I love your content man, I binged the entire Sons of Forest series and even managed to catch one of the episodes live on twitch yesterday. You sir just earned a new subscriber.
BTW they should add some kind of sentry guns, maybe even a single one, or a mounted crossbow that Kelvin could be ordered to man, to somehow automate the defense a bit.
It's stupid that Kelvin is so helpless now. I hope they enable him to use weapons.
My friends and I did something similar a few days ago! We found out that logs when thrown near a log holder would auto collect. And we had built a little dam by a river to collect them, before throwing them to there. After we found that out, we put a bunch of log holders into that dam area so we could just yeet logs into the river and have them auto collect. Sped things up quite a bit, and it made things feel like a lumber mill.
That’s such a cool interaction from the game tbh, like it really encourages player inventiveness to maximize their play through if they want, but it’s also a nice QOL thing for all players who wanna base build

I feel like it'd be best for Virginia to have the skull room as she is the main defense mean, and the planter room for Kevin, because he genuinely seem like a golden retriever boy
Virginia Theory: She can only make noises and not talk because she has 2 tongues

You dont need the Cross members only the long lines are fine also you don't need the upright pillers on the outer walls unless you just want it to look like that, I have not gotten the Zipline yet look forward to trying that to make things easier though my friend insisted on building on the shore so trees are running out lol

What about recreating houses from Phasmophobia? Especially the campfire one. Or maybe recreation of houses from different games you've played, like Until Dawn? I know, it might be not your type of videos (or not the type of videos people usually watch), but I personally love building videos like this. They are so relaxing.

my guess about not being able to clip objects when building is probably due to a performance decision, we've already seen quite a bit of weird physics with the doors and objects making contact. plus this game is much more demanding because of the increased map size and graphics enhancements
Finally done with the whole building videos, it was fun especially the squirrel part and the zipline thing u did in the Vods, thank you it was an amazing journey!
now back to terrible trios!

You can craft door locks from sticks.
It looks more natural if you place chairs at a slight angle, pushed out the way against a wall, instead of squared off and taking up most of the space in a room.

Squirrels ignoring all engineering attempts to keep them from doing something (except deadly traps) seems pretty realistic to me. 10/10 game.

In sons of the forest you can fill the The arch edge, you just have to cut the logs into the correct size which would be cutting a log three times with one being the largest and one being the smallest
Story wise I think The Forest did it better, hopefully with future updates the second game gets more lore and story.. It'd be kind of cool to see what the island was like before the outbreak n such, like seen through Virginia's eyes and her family.. Obviously she was some sort of test subject since there were cameras in her bedroom, and lore as to what happened to her mom would be nice.. Overall it's definitely a good game even though it's missing a lot lol
I'm sure they'll be adding a lot more stuff! But they do have bits of lore that you might not have seen explaining exactly what happened. There's also a "video". Don't wanna ruin too much if you haven't seen it!
Kevin carrying a boombox is a bit cruel, considering he’s deaf now😂
If Kelvin and Virginia were dogs, Kelvin is a silly retriever and Virginia is a highly trained german shepherd. Insym is the furdad struggling to build the doggy door.

Bro I’ve watched ALL the VODs on this game and I seen somewhere recently that you said you’re gonna be covering The Last of Us, I stg I’ve been dying for you to cover it and couldn’t wait for you to play SoTF too. I asked a couple months back on stream if you’d ever cover TLOU and you said no at the time, so glad you changed your mind!

54:04 they probably went through the whole process of manually cutting the wood, before placing it in the game. You’re probably not meant to just toss a full length, uncut log, onto something that requires a cut, halved log.

I believe Virginia doesn't lose her extra leg and arm because then, if you decide to stay in the island, she wouldn't have that extra arm to shoot canibals and/or they would need another body for her after the final, and maybe that's difficult or inconvenient for the developers.

U can fill the roof ends I did in mine but it won't line up perfectly. Looks kind of like a real life cabin where u see the whole log supports at the side of the roof so I don't rly mind

Put zipline direct to you house for you to enter and put all traps around the base cause I think kelvin and virigina can't take damage by it ( Big fan brother ❤❤ Love from India)

19:57 only about 30 logs can be on the ground at a time. If there's more the game will despawn the logs that have been on the ground for the longest.
Tip: There is a bug where you can attach rope (with rope gun) even through defensive walls. Logs or player can literally go through walls on the rope.
Insym should do a run where the game is moded to be permanight and winter on hardmode. Call it a "Cold Dark and Desolate" run
there should be a manequin in kevin's room, so you can put the tux on it, and maybe one in your room for the golden armour if your not wearing it
Insym I’m going to take what you did for inspiration for my house because yours is really good I just went around the map and getting the shovel
I justify using the log glitch ever since Kelvin destroyed my tree house mid build, and before that was attacked by cannibals where they too destroyed my work midway through. The cherry on top, half my logs and planks disappeared. It was fun playing with a total of 8 people (didn't glitch on mp), we really destroyed the environment between the fire axes and chainsaws ^_^
Only the twitch and vods channel know the struggle of squirrel activating the trap

Needs some animal skin rugs, trophy heads... needs... paint? Like, another use for plants, making dyes? Base looks great.
They *NEED* to adjust the way traps are triggered, I play RimWorld a lot and I can feel how it annoys you when your killbox keeps getting triggered by those damn squirrels.
And they need to work on Kelvin and Virginia's AI as well... the door part really killed me from the inside. 🤣
The best part about that house is (if it takes place in modern day) you could get starlink and actually have a streaming setup IRL with internet
I am afraid squirrels are just that powerful. 🐿️ Accept them. Give them all the nuts and you will live. 😂😂😂
If you want trees to respawn you have to get rid of the stumps. Just beat the stump with your axe till it breaks.
A dock on the lake would be so cute
Just another tip: With the targets you can put them on a log and then use C to remove the log and the target will stay behind.
Hey Insym, you can fill the angled space with 1/3 and 1/2 logs.
The new Devour map is in open beta now (coming out on the 9th).
For my base it toke around 12H just to build the foundations.... i builded at the see with the little island in it. and i build over the whole see at the winter time... the building thing in forest take such a lot of time xD

When precision is needed while destroying something, use the spear.
Can you build a platform going in and out of your base camp that the traps can lay on, squirrels go under so they don't trip it, but Victoria, Kelvin and cannibals would use?

Yeah ngl I was so shocked hotkeys weren't in there already seen as they were in the forest but its been game changing not having to open inventory every time I get attacked!
i suggest changing your map hotkey to V, light hotkey to F and inventory to TAB. much faster and easier

Edit: would be cool to decorate the outside of the fence around the based with bones so maybe it could look more menacing to the cannibals

Started it in singleplayer… Day 2 i was regretting starting it in singleplayer…
Had some complications along the way… Cannibals… Babies… Building… Virginia shooting Kelvin… Virginia leaving me (She hasn’t left me… She’s just standing far away by a river doing nothing at all…) making me have to defend Kelvin alone…
Have found using the zipline to be helpful… I reckon i’m gonna use atleast… 6 more days… Maybe… Hopefully…

I am on the fence regarding the log duplication bug, I didn't want to remove any more trees in my location but I needed logs, some disappeared off the floor anyway, so buggy situation.
This is exactly where I build my base too

A bench and one chair at the table and at the fire just put one or two chairs and someone will use the bench or the chairs from the table
So when will you recreate your favorite Phasmo house in Sons of the Forest?
They almost need a creative mode for this game where you can build all these fancy things with unlimited logs
i think you should give kelvin a weapon too so you'll have 2 deffensive buddies XP
