Austin is the guy that goes from "I wonder how hard it is for colorblind people to identify shinies" to brigading for colorblind rights and actually coming up with ideas and solutions. This guy is great.
I love that they made it so easy to accidently run past a ton of shinies and they decided "Hey thats not enough, lets make Tauros have almost no changes!"
I literally just missed a shiny wattrel and saw it again while catching a murkrow, which wasn't in my pokedex. The pokedex registering animation wasted enough time to allow the wattrel to get far enough away from me that I couldn't see it, despawning it. Could have been avoided if the shiny sound from PLA was kept in.
Your consideration of colorblind people in these guides is really next level. I never would have thought that the individual color balance on a tv or screen can affect how helpful the pictures are, but that totally makes sense and might be necessary for some of those more subtle ones. It really goes to show that disability accommodations can benefit the entire community!
I completely agree. I am colourblind however have not yet struggled with any shines. Either way I am glad I have some help wether I need it or not. If you are reading this Austin thank you for going out of your way to provide help to this community that is often forgotten in situations like this. I may never need this but if anyone does they can use it. That’s what makes the difference.
To bad they did not consider color blind people by making it easier to spot shinies the ray of light they have around the teraform pokemon would have been more useful for shinies
If you’re trying to tell the regular curly tatsugiri apart from the shiny stretchy tatsugiri - wait for them to do their camouflage animation. Curly tatsugiri do what their name suggests, curl up, and their tails points upwards. Stretchy tatsugiri lay flat. So if you see an orange tatsugiri laying flat, you know it’s a shiny stretchy tatsugiri and not a regular curly tatsugiri!
Thank you! This also helps just matching name to face. Love the color blind consideration, but just wish this had actual captions (upload a script if Austin wrote one?) and/or that he had the name above each pokemon as well. Thank you again, kind stranger, for commenting this timestamp guide to assist this already majorly helpful vid
I have a visual impairment and this is So HELPFUL. The slightly changed pokemon suck so hard. Austin John is a God amongst men. This is seriously so helpful and so insightful and not something a lot of people would take the time to do. Seriously, a great man.
@@datsaltygamer4136 there's definitely some good ones but the majority are disappointing. Cereuledge and armarouge both have terrible shinys but are some of the coolest pokemon ever made.
I can't agree with that. There are a small selection that I really like and are up there as all-time favourites, but this gen has the largest crop of lazy designs we have ever seen. Furthermore, how did they create such a phenomenal trio of starters, only to savage all of their final stages?
I love how this generation of Pokémon they said, "Hey, let's try to make sizes somewhat accurate this generation. From there we should make half of the new pokémon the size of a pea, make their shinies very subtle changes, and then not give any indicator that they're shiny until you get into a battle with them". Brilliant, just brilliant.
So true! Though I’m not color blind, even I have a difficult time to notice that the critter that I caught is a shiny. Especially with the new pokemon as most of them are barely any different than the original one. I really dislike what they did with the shinies this generation. It’s like how they took what they did with Gastly and it’s evolutions and did just that with most of the new pokemon. And I hope that the no shiny chime and sparkle thing in the field before battle thing is a mistake or oversight because in my first half hour of playing that game, I found my first shiny without knowing that it’s a shiny. Glad that I caught it instead of mowing down the pokemon that I already have. Other than that, I would’ve lost it without knowing that it was and it was a brand new pokemon instead of the old ones that I’ll notice right away.
Quick tip : remember that while using the let's go feature your pokemon will refuse to battle any shiny pokemon ! This way you can rampage every pokemon during your hunt and when your mon will stop before your prey (doing kind of a "No" movement with its head) you'll now you have before you the shiny you were hunting
This is helpful, but still given how incredibly rare they are GF should have included an overworld flare or some clear indicator so that none are missed in casual traversing of the world.
Hey Austin, as a colorblind person myself I just want to say thank you so much for this video. I’ve followed along with your journey of discovering how others see things from their perspective and the way you educated yourself. It started with you questioning how people who are colorblind see the game and how difficult it might be for them to see different shinies, and ended with you making a full video on advice. Thank you for reaching out to the community without ridiculing them. I cannot overstate how appreciative I am for the work you do. Thank you so much.
Not trying to sound offense, but as a blind person, what is the purpose/enjoyment looking for different colored Pokémon for you? Some people have different cones in their eyes affected so idk if you only see a certain spectrum or completely black and white, but why do you specifically want to look for and find shiny Pokémon with your condition?
@@NoonMightthat is a very good question haha. And don’t worry, you didn’t offend me at all. I think I tend to pick out shinies of Pokémon whose design I already like. then, I like the shinies because they are noticeably different. For example, I like Dragapult’s design and the shiny incorporates my favorite color, yellow, in a bright, noticeable way, at least for me. This combined with the enjoyment I get just from searching for a shiny is just a lot of fun (plus the rarity). I won’t ever really go for a shiny that I can’t tell the difference or a shiny I don’t like. Maushold, for example, is a design I very much like and it’s a Pokémon I may even use competitively, but it’s shiny is basically unchanged so I don’t plan on shiny hunting it like ever.
@@NoonMight i've learned that if you ask a question in a respectful way, like you did, to someone who experiences things differently, they're often happy to explain - opposed to the people that meet them with adversity. :)
@@jedimastersnake I've heard it jokingly before some someone colorblind of "if I can't tell the difference, I don't need it" but I never realized the opposite of your 'strong' colors may make it more desirable.
The trick with the tv settings while having the two Pokémon up is so ingenious and such a great aid for those who may have visual difficulties!!! You are an incredible human being Austin and are appreciated for all the work you put in!!! Thanks for always trying to be inclusive to everyone!!! That’s so awesome!!
They really had the opportunity to give both a visual and audio cue (as successfully portrayed in PLA) and gave us neither this Gen 😭 My eyesight isn’t too great. Thanks for actively helping out the community with videos like this!
I've heard it may be because of the pokemon spawning in walls, which would be tragic to encounter because there's no way in there. I'd still take some wall shiny fails over probably missing a bunch in the open because of no cues though
@@xylophoneserpent367 that was speculation by some dude on reddit that then blew up. Probably way more likely it was related to people glidding around the maps in Legends and just waiting for the shiny spawn sound effect to happen
@@skilledwarman you mean the Pokemon don't just spawn in random spots? I recently ran into a shiny Abra out in the open unexpectedly. Obviously I wasn't shiny hunting anything.
I respect the hell out of you for legit taking the consideration of color deficient folks into your videos, as a graphic designer I have worked really hard to bring light to this issue & I super appreciate a large creator like yourself speaking on it.
There really should be a visual for shinies. I don't know what they were thinking. Maybe they just wanted it to be harder in general to find shinies but they didn't think about colorblindness. I hope they do add a visual at least.
I'd say give them a faint star-like aura around them. I just found an Alolan Vulpix today after a couple of days of searching. I'm not colorblind, but my God are some of the shiny forms almost the same as the original.
I feel like the shiny Pokémon should’ve had sparkles around them that trails behind them when they walk. That way you still have to be attentive in order to get the Pokémon but that way it is easier to find smaller Pokémon
As a visually impaired player, I can't even begin to say how heartwarming it is to see somebody so big in the community looking out for us. I have a brain injury and would never have been able to finish the game or get Charizard without your videos explaining how things work, because it is so confusing for me. So even your regular content makes the game more accessible but stuff like this is just the cherry on top of your kind, inclusive sundae.
I LOVE how your talk about colourblind people didn't end with just a talk. I might not be colourblind myself but I think accessibility in games is overlooked enough and I'm glad you are trying to help in your own way, thank you
I feel like some of these get even harder to see sometimes because of the atmosphere or shadow effects. Similar to how in arceus, your either seeing a brown starley that’s actually black or a brown starley that really is brown
Considering how hard it is to see some of these shinies, it's an absolute CRIME how they got rid of that sound effect that'd play whenever one spawns in in legends arceus. I wish they'd at least add an option to bring it back, to me it's a CRUCIAL accessibility feature
maybe Austin John can ask then to the people that are coller blind if the sound effect's from Legends Arceus is more helpfull for then and if it was a lot easyer for then also.
@@Spikanor537 Colorblind person here! The sound and sparkle helps a ton! The visual aid helps more than the sound aid but the sound still helps a ton. Especially when you're just roaming and come across a full odds shiny. I found a shiny growlithe in violet recently and the ONLY reason I knew it was shiny was because it was next to multiple other growlithe so the difference was super clear. It was way paler than the others. Had the others not been there I would've missed that shiny for sure.
@@beaniebaby7725 i can understand then really good that you have hate it more when you have found out that in violet and scarlet there not have add any sounds or sparkle effect's when you are close to a shiny pokemon like in legends arceus. it most then suck then really hard for you then. i am not colorblind but i hate it also that there are no sparkle and sound effect's since a lot off shiny's have almost the same color as the normal one's or the color chance is so small that its hard to find it at all the diffrend.
Sound effect not needed if they just used the light effect they used for tera pokemon for shinies could see them far away before sound effect would happen then.
Fun fact for those that don't already know, Tinkaton is the natural predator of Corviknight and its hammer is made of Corviknight metal, and thus Shiny Tinkaton's color change is that its tools it has made from said metal become the color of Shiny Coviknight. Thought it was a neat touch by Gamefreak.
I've got a theory that she isn't actually a corviknight killer but a scavenger of parts from ruins or after battles and her pikedex entry is flawed. My evidence, she has no super effective moves or type advanges on him. She has no superior Stat builds to him. The dex is written and filled out by mostly kids who haven't taken the time to study the pokemon behavior thoughly before chucking a ball at it. I could be wrong but it's fun to think about. Fan theories and all :)
@@brittanygeren8881 it says she knocks rocks into the sky to take out the Corviknight, so i don't thing her move effectiveness matters there But it is interesting
@@brittanygeren8881 Actually, Tinkatuff's flavor text in Scarlet says they predate pawniards and bisharps to scavange materials to build their hammers.
I'd assume the tinkatink's line pokedex entries tell a story of Tinkatink trying to create a really good hammer, but a 'pokemon that eats metal' (presumed to be corviknight but id assume it could also be meltan) steals its hammer before it can make anything out of it so it end up evolving into tinkatuff, steals metal from pawniard+bisharps to create the ultimate hammer for revenge on corviknight as Tinkaton. Though I do enjoy the thought of a fairy type just telling these overgrown birds to piss off out of their air space lmao.
He keeps reminding us that its helpful to leave suggestions in comments and I was shiny hunting wattrel the other day I kinda went damn... these shinys are hard to identify and boom he makes a video on it
Biggest issues I’ve had with shinies this gen as a color blind person is the backgrounds they’re on. It’s easy to tell some on serebii or in this video, but when they’re on a blue/green/sand background (or when the shadows are going crazy) their appearance will totally change to me. So I end up just knocking out everything I see for a lot of them
I love how u went from never wondering about colorblind ppl and shinyhunting, to taking interest on it, to actually bothering to take the time of your day to help colorblind ppl out. Always love your videos 🙏🏼
Holy wow, thank you thank you for this. The *alert* of a shiny in the overworld in Arceus was great for spicy eyed folk like me, and Scarlet has been much more difficult. Thank you sincerely for taking the time to make this video.
I think Roaring Moon is an interesting Pokémon lore-wise in this generation. Not only does it resemble Mega Salamence, something pointed out in the Pokédex, but also it's shiny version has colours that make it a similar colour to Ho-oh.
I think a way they could make shines more noticeable would be to add the sparkle animation when you focus on the Pokémon by clicking ZL. That would make it so you still have to notice and find it, but would save time not having to start a battle
This is what I can't get my head around, even though I think it's ridiculous they took away the sparkle/sound effect from PLA, I can't believe that they didn't even include the shiny icon when chekcing a pokemon with ZL. Wtf is that about!?
@@brittanygeren8881 yes yes yes! The lock on feature in SV seems straight up broken. I can barely get it to work half the time, whereas in PLA it’s such an asset
This was genuinely the most helpful videos regarding shiny differences I've seen for any Pokemon game. Thank you for walking us through the difference instead of just showing us
Honestly you’re one of the best gamer UA-camrs period. The amount of work and testing you put in for your viewers is just phenomenal. The fact that you’re considerate of your colorblind viewers too and created this shows the dedication and care you have. Keep up the amazing work Austin!
You're the only UA-camr I've ever seen who is consistently kind and thoughtful about all of your viewers. Thank you for all the work you put in for your videos.
W Austin, I have deuteranomaly (one of the more common types with a relatively large pool of colors remaining visible, greens and reds are pretty much a no-go however) and recognizing shinies can be pretty tough seeing as greens and reds are popular design choices. The side by sides are far easier to recognize than isolated pictures!
I really like alot of the shinies, especially the Scarlet Paradox mons, but it's very straining to look for a very slight change in texture, hunting the Iron Moth I needed so much attention to see the difference when walking past them, meanwhile Great Tusk, Iron Thorns etc are so obivous. I really think it would be nice if you could toggle a audio sound for shinies like PLA. Never going to hunt for Maushold, unless doing Mesuda.
yeah i want a shiny tandemaus/maushold but i think im just going to do masuda method for it too lol. same with any of the more subtle ones honestly. my vision is really poor & i dont feel like getting a headache because im having to strain my eyes so much
man this means so much , shiny hunting used to be so impossible for me to tell, never thought a youtuber would have a video just to help colour blind people, So thank you much Austin
Definitely a well needed video since Shiny Pokémon don’t sparkle upon finding on and that they’re sizing are more accurate which makes it easier to miss one
Honestly, just my personal take. It would be AMAZING if shiny Armarouge and Ceruledge were a palette swap. Like, shiny Armarouge has regular Ceruledge’s colors and vice versa.
Aside from just being overall unimpressive, it's almost rude how similar they made some of these shinies to their original colors 😂 I hate all the neon green we got with early shinies, but at least you can see that they're actually different 💀
Austin this is HUGELY helpful, for casual players, colorblind players, and for the incredibly small Pokémon than spawn in the overworld. THANK YOU for being the best and most helpful source of Pokémon news and information 🖤
Thank you so much for this! I'm getting the game next week (birthday~), and I've heard of some of the crazy sizes they've got for the pokemon this gen. I also have some friends who are colorblind to some degree, so this will be very useful, and I'll be sure to send them this video as a guide! I wish they'd have kept the sound and/or visual cues that PLA had. THAT is insanely useful, especially for subtle shinies (I'm looking at you, Paras).
This is PREMIUM content. Your dedication to your fanbase is amazing. The tiny Pokemon like tadbulb are going to be the hardest ones in my opinion because they're so hard to see in the first place, I always find myself running into them on accident. My first and only shiny so far was a bergamite that my let's go wouldn't fight, love that feature.
The thing which makes this worse is the fact that you don’t even hear the sound when you “find” a shiny pokemon and now I’m insanely paranoid every second now
I like how you choose Paldean Tauros as the thumbnail, I've seen a LOT of people having trouble seeing the black and grey switched places, since the shade GF used didn't make it easy to spot.......
Man I appreciate you so much! I commented on another video of yours talking about how tough it is being colorblind! This is amazing. I instantly subscribed!
Even though i am not colorblind or have any problems in that way, i really love how Austin just puts a Video about it, it really helps and is awesome even if you dont have any handicaps what so ever, keep up the amazaing work Edit:This video helps evenmore if we counter in the Fact that there are 1000 mons now, and with shinys like pikachu where is nearly no difference it helps imens
Thank you for your service, my brother has a color blind mode on his tv, but when playing in handheld, he struggles to differentiate certain colors. This will help him a lot, I'm sure.
Trick for Tatsugiri! When they do their whole sushi disguise thing, the shrimp one (curly form) curls its tail into the air while the others just sort of flop. This carries over to the shinies. So if an orange tatsugiri doesn’t curl its tail up when it idles, you have a shiny on your hands!
Tauros has that subtle color change that is actually so pleasing to me lol I also like Klawf, Oinkologne, Cetitan, Grafaiai, and Chi-Yu 💙 However, it's a huge shame that they still do the TINY shiny detail change instead of new color palettes. Also, the future paradox pokemon deserved better shinies instead of just oh idk... METAL
The easiest way to tell if a Future form Paradox Pokémon is shiny, is how metallic it is. The difference is that most of their prominent colours are changed to match the surrounding metal colour, so if it's almost entirely the same silver metallic colour, it's shiny. The only outliers are Iron Moth and Iron Hands who keep their prominent orange and yellow colours respectively, so are a bit harder to notice.
Thank you so much for going so far into this topic. I am colorblind and I've been worried about finding shinies in these games. Funnely enough I found my first true random shiny ever during the Area Zero story. I saw a Lokix that was green and got very excited. Caught it in a Premier Ball
I can’t believe you mentioned colorblind people 😃! No other Pokémon UA-camr has mentioned how difficult it is . Thank you. I can’t see any colors, so shiny hunting is nearly impossible, but I’m always on the look out for shines that are completely contrasted from the original.
I’m sure they removed the sparkle and noise as a balance to the overworld shiny. I know Nintendo is BERY well know for not being very good with accommodations at all, but when I heard about the no sparkle, as a terribly color blind person, I was INCREDIBLY disappointed. But when I got the notification that this video got posted I couldn’t believe it. Usually everyone brushes off the difficulty, but you helped so much and cared. I’ve been through this video multiple times and even the explaining has helped me to find 17 shinies that otherwise I would have walked past. So thank you so, so much.
I cannot thank you enough for the content you make. This guide would've been great on its own but to highlight and acknowledge the struggles of colorblind and visually impaired people as well, I just wanna say thank you 💜
off topic but another strategy for beating the 7* charizard raids that i haven’t seen anywhere: get a polteageist with weak armor and teach it skill swap, the charizard will reach -6 def almost instantly :)
This is such a great tool for accessibility. It's a shame that GF hasn't kept up with modern accessibility trends in the same way that they've been working on trying to make the gameplay more streamlined. Thank you, I'm sure that many many people will find this video very helpful.
Austin, thanks so much for all of the videos you've put out for SV. Because of your advice for doing isolated encounter shiny hunts, I was able to get both Fidough and Dachsbun, my two favorite gen 9 Pokemon, without needing to do a mass outbreak, and your videos on raids helped me build some great Pokemon to help me gather that Herba Mystica in the first place. I was never super big on how time-consuming shiny hunting could be in previous gens, but isolated encounter hunts are really fun. Keep up the good work, and thank you for being so considerate to everyone in the community.
I actually like the shiny for the Tinkatink line just the hammer being made from a different type of metal scrap presumably is such a cool little detail for me
Thank you so much for the video! I really appreciated the farming locations that you mentioned throughout, a video on some of the more hard-to-isolate ones would be appreciated if that was something you were thinking about, thanks!
I have normal vision. I watched this an hour ago. Just turned on my game, found a pack of Tauros, wouldn't have blinked an eyelid normally. But I remembered what Austin said about the reflection of the body and had a gut feeling. Encountered one, lo and behold, it was a freakin' shiny! Genuinely jumped out of my seat.
Wanted to thank you for this one! I just caught a shiny Tauros specifically because I remembered you talking about the texture/lighting differences and was like "hang on, this one looks weird compared to the others in this group" and I was right!
thanks for this video, i am colour blind and i feel like i have ran past many subtle shinys while playing the game. this guide will help me alot when out searching
I found a random shiny mankey yesterday. The color difference is not as noticeable in the overworld as it is in the pokedex. I almost didn't encounter it because I thought the shadow from the cliff next to me was just making it slightly darker. Though, maybe it would stand out in a group of normal mankey. Awesome video; I thought I should just share my experience.
Thank you so much! Some colors are difficult for me, so it means a lot. Even many people who aren’t visually impaired have trouble with the shinies in this game, so i think this video will help just about everyone.
I do wish some of these were more obvious but I do love the shinies from this new generation as a whole, especially that we have a ton that look like Albino Pokémon!
When you find a shiny in the overworld, there should be a massive sound and sparkles should be emanating from it every few seconds just so people can notice it regardless of hearing or seeing ability. Some of these are just far too close imo.
Sound effect not needed if they just used the light effect they used for tera pokemon for shinies could see them far away before sound effect would happen then.
I love so much that your realisation of how colour blind people would see in this game is the most adorable thing and I love it for both you and for everyone who has colour issues from tech to colourblindness
I'm not colourblind, but I really appreciate the Tauros and Gholdengo talk-throughs. I didn't even notice the differences between the shiny and non-shiny forms of Gholdengo, and I've seen that picture a couple of times on the web. As for Tauros, seeing them side-by-side makes it slightly more obvious, but I'm probably still going to miss them lmao
Believe it or not, it's usually not that hard to tell Tauros, mostly because it's often in a group of 5, so it stands out that its colors are reversed.
@@RabblesTheBinx Honestly, that's pretty much how I've gotten most of my shinies in this game so far. A group of Pokemon spawn, I see something marginally different as I ride past, and go "...wait a minute". I've yet to see a shiny Tauros in game so far, but yeah, I'm kind of banking on this also being the case lmao
Honestly, I'm just gonna watch all the way through this & give engagement because this is going to be a great resource for a lot of people. I never would've thought of the color balance thing.

Really cool of Austin to do something like this. I hadn't even considered that visually impaired people might be at a bigger disadvantage with this game, but considering that the shiny noise is gone from PLA, it makes sense that they'd need a guide. Solid video.

Ur a good person
@@Katriella. we could do community captions UA-cam took those away:(
I have a visual impairment and this is So HELPFUL. The slightly changed pokemon suck so hard. Austin John is a God amongst men.
This is seriously so helpful and so insightful and not something a lot of people would take the time to do. Seriously, a great man.
The pokemon designs this generation are phenomenal but the shiny forms are just so lackluster.
Pawmi evolution line and bramblin say otherwise lol
@@datsaltygamer4136 there's definitely some good ones but the majority are disappointing. Cereuledge and armarouge both have terrible shinys but are some of the coolest pokemon ever made.
@@atomic_hok agreed I would of rather had shinys that look bad then ones that look the sames
I can't agree with that. There are a small selection that I really like and are up there as all-time favourites, but this gen has the largest crop of lazy designs we have ever seen. Furthermore, how did they create such a phenomenal trio of starters, only to savage all of their final stages?
@@datsaltygamer4136 2/100+?!?! Great ratio mann
Masuda: Boi you want a raise?
Me, in the desert: Ooh, a fallen item
Flittle or Capsakid, every time.
I want a shiny pawmo plushie
This is extremely accurate
Quick tip : remember that while using the let's go feature your pokemon will refuse to battle any shiny pokemon ! This way you can rampage every pokemon during your hunt and when your mon will stop before your prey (doing kind of a "No" movement with its head) you'll now you have before you the shiny you were hunting
That’s how i have found mine!!
This is helpful, but still given how incredibly rare they are GF should have included an overworld flare or some clear indicator so that none are missed in casual traversing of the world.
Did not know this! Thank you!

This true?
@@AustinJohnPlays haha yeah. I don’t shiny hunt very often, so when I do, that’s how I base my choice of what I shiny hunt.
Thanks for actively helping out the community with videos like this!
i rlly don’t understand why they didn’t keep that sound it was so helpful 😭
I've heard it may be because of the pokemon spawning in walls, which would be tragic to encounter because there's no way in there. I'd still take some wall shiny fails over probably missing a bunch in the open because of no cues though
@@xylophoneserpent367 that was speculation by some dude on reddit that then blew up. Probably way more likely it was related to people glidding around the maps in Legends and just waiting for the shiny spawn sound effect to happen
@@xylophoneserpent367 you CAN get to them though. you just need to target them then enter battle by throwing your pokemons ball at it
@@skilledwarman you mean the Pokemon don't just spawn in random spots? I recently ran into a shiny Abra out in the open unexpectedly. Obviously I wasn't shiny hunting anything.
As a colorblind individual, I can’t thank you enough for even bringing it up in your videos. It’s been a huge pain trying differentiate many of them.
The switch would probably explode.
I 100% agree! Like how they did it in let's go
Like in Pixelmon!
My main issue is the lack of the sparkle noise that i liked to listen out for in Legends:Arceus
That would be super cool!
I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope everything is going well for you.
@@kaylathehedgehog2005 thank you 💜 I am doing pretty well, considering. New Pokemon always helps though, lol
@@sarahwoodssheppard4808 That's great to hear! Glad you're doing better. They do indeed!
@@beaniebaby7725 i can understand then really good that you have hate it more when you have found out that in violet and scarlet there not have add any sounds or sparkle effect's when you are close to a shiny pokemon like in legends arceus.

i am not colorblind but i hate it also that there are no sparkle and sound effect's since a lot off shiny's have almost the same color as the normal one's or the color chance is so small that its hard to find it at all the diffrend.
Sound effect not needed if they just used the light effect they used for tera pokemon for shinies could see them far away before sound effect would happen then.
@@basillah7650 i don't think it would be a good idea to have both of them with the same light beam
Shiny corviknight is silver, shiny hammer is copper.
@@brittanygeren8881 it says she knocks rocks into the sky to take out the Corviknight, so i don't thing her move effectiveness matters there
But it is interesting

At this point, austin is just the father of this community that cares about everyone, also am i the only one that thinks the outro is a banger?
nope i think so too
I like the outro is a banger too but for some reason I also cringe when I hear it and I have no idea why cause I like it
No I’ve been trying to find the outro song forever
@@d1grahm we didn't release the vocal, but the instrumental is on my soundcloud
The outro sounds like Richie Branson who did the Camp Camp music.
I think Roaring Moon is an interesting Pokémon lore-wise in this generation. Not only does it resemble Mega Salamence, something pointed out in the Pokédex, but also it's shiny version has colours that make it a similar colour to Ho-oh.
Also it kinda looks like hydreigon
I think a way they could make shines more noticeable would be to add the sparkle animation when you focus on the Pokémon by clicking ZL. That would make it so you still have to notice and find it, but would save time not having to start a battle
This is what I can't get my head around, even though I think it's ridiculous they took away the sparkle/sound effect from PLA, I can't believe that they didn't even include the shiny icon when chekcing a pokemon with ZL. Wtf is that about!?
I would appreciate that if they made the lock on feature easier to use like in Arceus. It would feel like a mini game then and I'd be all on board
@@brittanygeren8881 yes yes yes! The lock on feature in SV seems straight up broken. I can barely get it to work half the time, whereas in PLA it’s such an asset
This was genuinely the most helpful videos regarding shiny differences I've seen for any Pokemon game. Thank you for walking us through the difference instead of just showing us
Arboliva’s shiny is probably my favorite out this generation. Kinda makes it look like an evergreen tree.
It looks very elegant
Plus it goes from Green olives to black olives
I caught one with an Ice Terratype, he's very festive with his little snow star on top.
I understand you mean like a pine-like evergreen, but olive trees are also considered to be evergreen. I really love Arboliva's shiny too.
@@burnished Huh... Today I learned
Iron Hands has been the absolute bane of my life, since normal coloured ones that are powered down / sleeping look so similar to the shiny ones. 😭
yeah i want a shiny tandemaus/maushold but i think im just going to do masuda method for it too lol. same with any of the more subtle ones honestly. my vision is really poor & i dont feel like getting a headache because im having to strain my eyes so much
@@mariblue72 yeah when he said easy to spot that was my thought process. Like you know how many powered down versions of this guy I've ran into?

Definitely a well needed video since Shiny Pokémon don’t sparkle upon finding on and that they’re sizing are more accurate which makes it easier to miss one
Honestly, just my personal take. It would be AMAZING if shiny Armarouge and Ceruledge were a palette swap. Like, shiny Armarouge has regular Ceruledge’s colors and vice versa.
You are a godsend. Also it’s really cool to see the colorblindness conversation come this far!
Aside from just being overall unimpressive, it's almost rude how similar they made some of these shinies to their original colors 😂 I hate all the neon green we got with early shinies, but at least you can see that they're actually different 💀
Yeah I wanted Gholdengo to be the silver surfer
Even though i am not colorblind or have any problems in that way, i really love how Austin just puts a Video about it, it really helps and is awesome even if you dont have any handicaps what so ever, keep up the amazaing work
Edit:This video helps evenmore if we counter in the Fact that there are 1000 mons now, and with shinys like pikachu where is nearly no difference it helps imens
Thank you for your service, my brother has a color blind mode on his tv, but when playing in handheld, he struggles to differentiate certain colors. This will help him a lot, I'm sure.
This video is GOLD CONTENT. Playing handheld on the OLED is still even hard to find the shinies! Love this video.
Tauros has that subtle color change that is actually so pleasing to me lol I also like Klawf, Oinkologne, Cetitan, Grafaiai, and Chi-Yu 💙
However, it's a huge shame that they still do the TINY shiny detail change instead of new color palettes.
My head canon for the shiny mechamons is that the 3D Printer that is making the mechamons ran out of coloured ink.
This guide would've been great on its own but to highlight and acknowledge the struggles of colorblind and visually impaired people as well, I just wanna say thank you 💜
off topic but another strategy for beating the 7* charizard raids that i haven’t seen anywhere:
get a polteageist with weak armor and teach it skill swap, the charizard will reach -6 def almost instantly :)
This is such a great tool for accessibility. It's a shame that GF hasn't kept up with modern accessibility trends in the same way that they've been working on trying to make the gameplay more streamlined. Thank you, I'm sure that many many people will find this video very helpful.
as I was watching, I noticed a shiny fidough outside medali; would probably have missed it without this guide. thanks austin!
I miss the chime that Legends Arceus used. I have some issues with visual processing so if the shiny isn’t super obvious I won’t notice.
I live a simple life. I see Austin. I click.
Awesome video; I thought I should just share my experience.
this is very helpful, thanks.
i don't know why they decided to not include the shiny sparkle and sound we've had for the passed couple games.
Thank you so much! Some colors are difficult for me, so it means a lot. Even many people who aren’t visually impaired have trouble with the shinies in this game, so i think this video will help just about everyone.
I'm almost positive now that I accidentally ignored a shiny tastugiri thinking it was the orange one I already had. 🙃
I do wish some of these were more obvious but I do love the shinies from this new generation as a whole, especially that we have a ton that look like Albino Pokémon!

*First thing I see when I open UA-cam*
When you find a shiny in the overworld, there should be a massive sound and sparkles should be emanating from it every few seconds just so people can notice it regardless of hearing or seeing ability. Some of these are just far too close imo.
Sound effect not needed if they just used the light effect they used for tera pokemon for shinies could see them far away before sound effect would happen then.
“I don’t know, it’s nipples” lol
I love so much that your realisation of how colour blind people would see in this game is the most adorable thing and I love it for both you and for everyone who has colour issues from tech to colourblindness
As a colorblind person, thank you for this video! Also, I learned so much about the normal colors through your commentary as well! lol

Seriously, bless you Austin. I have different disabilities that affect my relationship with video games, but just seeing you consider this and pursue helping this community to this extent just gives me all of the warm and fuzzies and reinforces my decision to subscribe (and subscribe again when I remade my account, hah). 🥺
