    Hi Toy Man and Lady: Thanks for showing us the Cagney Loco's. Cool HS shop project. 😎
    • Cheers from The Detroit Mackinac Railway • Pronounced: (mac-in-aw) 🚂

      As you can see in the video, he's rebuilding it yet again. Seems in high school he didn't really get it right. Or safe! Good thing he didn't end up sitting on a bomb! Anyway, years of fun with the loco, and now making it 100% right. COOL!!!

      Side bar: I am a retired High School Shop Teacher, 36 years, the story about the HS Project is cool. Being from the motor city, the students did a lot of rebuilding cars and boats.

      I had totally lost track of John. Later I started teaching at the University of Utah, in other words became a stand up comedian. They on to Lake Tahoe, and finally Santa Barbara - Ventura. Now back in Salt Lake. And suddenly there is John's shop!!!!! WOW!!!! All classes impact the students, but the shop classes really changed lives. As they were intended to. So, naturally these are getting closed. What happens when idiots are driving the ship.

      In Michigan / The core curriculum, gave students less elective classes like Industrial, Vocational Education & Business Education. When I started teaching we had 8 full time shop teachers, when I retired 36 years later, we only had 2 shop teachers. The state school board is working on fixing this issue, but no easy button. 🚂

    You two never fail to amaze me. I just got back from running my 7-1/2 inch gauge 2-6-0 live steamer at Riverside Live Steamers and there you are at a company that restores and builds all different kinds of live steam engines. It was great! Thanks again. PJ

      We operate on the second and forth Sundays of the month plus we have our "famous" three day spring and fall meets. Give us a heads up and we'll get the BIG BOY out.

      Yes... We want to take time to visit Riverside... My mom lived there at one time... My great grand parents and my uncle all lived in Riverside for many years. Riverside Live Steamers would be fun to add to the list!

    I've visited the 278 in Cimmaron canyon a couple of times. Always loved it. Knew it had been removed for restoration. Glad to have you help connect the dots. Great to see the activity and interest being still strong. Thanks again for documenting real history.

      Me too. Was really looking forward to showing it to Karyn. BUT GONE!!!???!!! Now we know.

      Jon Heller 278 was cosmetically restored more than 3 years ago at mammoth loco works in palisade colorado. I saw her more than 2 years ago moved back to Cimarron. Now unless they brought her back again for another restoration I have no knowledge of this?

    Your "honest-to-goodness standard gauge engine" is actually three-foot narrow gauge. It's Klondike Mines No.3, originally built for use in Alaska but soon to go to Como Colorado to operate at the roundhouse and depot museum there.

      ERA Films - Actually it is former Klondike Mines #4.

    John is serving his time in the Englewood Colorado Federal Correctional Institute not far from Denver. He is scheduled for release in October 2024.
    Sad ending for this story. Hopefully lessons were learned.

      Really breaks my heart. Don’t know what he was thinking. Well I do I guess but how he came to that is sad. I think someone sort of helped with bad moral decisions. But who knows. But it’s sad.

    Need to be updated on the restoration... Great Video. Yesterday I was in Knightsville, Ut with the mayor, and he was telling about the trains that was hauling ore out of the mines while we were traveling on the same pathways that the tracks were on.

    • @ToyManTelevision
      @ToyManTelevision  7 років тому

      Not that many. Well, split by 3 mustangs, but only about 7K per car. BUT 100% screwing around miles. The poor old Seabring, 230.000 miles poor thing, but still going strong! We use it as a snowmobile, truck and taxi. AND for screwing around.

    What standard gauge engine were they rebuilding?

    • @ToyManTelevision
      @ToyManTelevision  7 років тому +1

      Nevada Northern #92. Oops, I said the narrow gauge loco in the shop was "Real live full sized standard gauge". Knew better. 3 foot gauge. But I was on a roll so I just went off!! BUT the real standard gauge on the video is the NN. Have you seen the vids on the Nevada Northern? The one on the shops shows the finished loco!!

    Be sure to show us your interview with UP steam manager Ed Dickens. He and his crew are the ones responsible for running 3 giant steam locomotives. Can't wait till Big Boy 4014 gets steamed up for her second career. I anticipate he'll be steamed up in 2019. Other Big Boys are on display in various states and locations. Steam town in Scranton PA. Frisco TX. Denver CO. Green Bay WI. Omaha NE. And now 2 in Cheyenne WI.

      Messing with that footage, Ed is great!!!! Not sure how to do a show on water softeners. But as it turns out, interesting. And long history.

    OK Toy man.... just finished binge watching 200 of your videos over the last few weeks and now you've got me. Like a quality batch of fudge; you just keep binging until its gone. Well... now your videos are gone, and I'm addicted to you and Karen. So now you have two choices. 1). Adopt me and allow me to come live with you. I don't eat much and I will work off my tab by sleeping at Garage Mahal and helping constrict your HOn3 layout. 2). Start Vlogging daily. That way we will have daily access to your life via your fine videos. The choice is yours... I can be there by fathers day!
    Toy man; you are simply the best at what you do. Keep on rolling and screwing around. We will be here waiting for your escapades!

    • @ToyManTelevision
      @ToyManTelevision  7 років тому

      So much screwing around, so little time!! Uploading right now. Sort of. Also figuring when we can get back on the layout(s). And the toilet needs work. Retirement is a lot of work!!

    What do you use to film all these great videos! What software do you use to film these fabulous videos?

    • @ToyManTelevision
      @ToyManTelevision  4 роки тому

      The Vintage Comet mostly we use our iPhones. But I use a lumix gh2 with hacked software fir special stuff the phones are 4 k and have a much better image. But the lumix has zoom lenses. Telephoto and amazing stability. Optical stabilization. I use it with an old tv news zoom lens fir full size trains. Models are always on our phones. Then we have 2 GoPros we use for the driving and the Tuesday show. I have Avid and premiere and Final Cut Pro X but I never use them. I use Final Cut Pro 7. Because I know it really really well. I can edit FAST with it. Well I wrote a book on it. So I really know how to get it done fast. Sound is done on Pro Tools. There too I really know it. Been using it fir 20 years. Music is Smart Sound. FAST. and gives me what I want. Quickly. Compressor for uploads. Oh and I convert all video to pro Rez because FPC 7 really needs that. So I use a weird compressor som guys made to do that.

    On the subject of screwing around I was out at the Colorado rail road museum on a Friday and some collage kids where screwing around with one of the steam trains. To justify this they said "it was his (the engineer) last day of his fresh man year at school of mines. Basically screwing around
