In all honesty, the fact that Emily was mad at Rachel and not purely at Ross just goes to show that a lot of people would forgive their partners of anything and just hate on the person who so say "sabotaged" the relationship.

@@hsd287 But she didn't do anything in the end, and even if she had told Ross she loved him (which she chose not to at the time), if Ross was sure about his wedding it should not have mattered one bit. If he couldn't even say his own fiancé's name at the altar that's on him.
This is one of the only times Rachel isn't selfish and actually tries to do the best for Ross
She tried to set him on a date with the pizza delivery girl when Ross sucked at flirting.
@@wldct9063 there were several times she wasn’t selfish how about giving Emma Ross’s name or or going alone with being married for his parents, or trying to hide her pregnancy, babysitting Ben twice, helping Chandler after he has broken up with Janice.

In the age of mental health, that Ross to Ross message really hits hard. This guy hasn't had the easiest life, sure by many other people's view he's had a really good life. But relationship wise, it's been a struggle. And he's a very emotionally driven guy. So him reminding himself to remember that feeling of being good. And to love himself. That shit was beautiful. The show plays it off like he's crazy and weird. But I dunno. That was both a wholesome and sad moment of Ross taking care of Ross. That is why he is my fav character. He has so many layers and David Schwimmer is one hell of an actor.
Also because Ross's friends always make fun of him. He can't really talk about his sadness at being alone or being abandoned by his love interests because they mock him for it. So the best he can do is tell himself to avoid the judgment
The 90s was a mean mean time
The message was just because he thought he just had a near death experience (which he didn't), that's why the show plays it as weird.
@@saimcheeda93it was a different time. People saw men who struggled mentally as "weak". I always said swap Ross for a woman, and the audience would have a much different stance.

Ross's message sounds like he's going through a really tough time and possibly depression. A bit mean to just laugh at his message.

To be fair, they weren’t in on the context, to them it was the most random thing somebody could do, if it were me, I’d definitely find it funny IN THE MOMENT, and then start asking questions
Generally, Ross's knowledge, stories, feelings and being a father is not recognized or appreciated by his friends, wives and ex-wives. They made fun of him for being sensitive and nerdy. In my opinion, Ross is a great guy who unfortunately is not wise at making decisions on what kind of women he should be with.

I grew up watching the DVDs of Friends and have noticed that on the Blu-Rays as well as HBO Max, they edit it down and take out some hilarious scenes that I enjoyed on the DVD's. For example in this scene, after Rachel deletes the message, she tries to recreate the message in a British accent saying, "Hello, Ross. This is Rachel...EMILY! My God, what is it with those two names?!" They should've kept that line in. :(
Yes! Unfortunately, when they remastered and adapted the entire series from the original films to 1080p video, they did stick to the syndicated (reduced) version. And the remastered version is the one we see in all Full HD streaming services today.

They didn't take anything out or edited down. The Blu-ray and streaming versions are the ORIGINAL version, exactly how it was originally first aired on TV. What's on the DVD are added EXTRAS, they added more stuff specifically for the DVD. When people say edited down and take out, that means they cut some scenes out from the original which is not the case here.
@@IndigoIndustrial It's not at all like George Lucas. In the case of Star Wars, Lucas refused to release the theatrical versions of the original trilogy. That's not the case with Friends because what we get on Blu-ray and streaming is the original broadcast version. It's the equivalent to the theatrical release. What you have on DVD is an extended version, not the original version. Star Wars fans want the original version whilst Friends fans want the extended version.

He’s gonna move away so Ross being Monica’s brother doesn’t push Rachel away but Ross himself. She’s making him isolated from everybody. However, watching episodes through the series, if you sit down with Rachel and talk about it seriously, she eventually understands. Rachel was a bitch wanting Ross every time he gets into any relationship tho but that’s two different situations

Ross would have said Rachel's name whether she was there or not because he was still in love with her. He knew the moment she turned down the wedding invite that she was still in love with him. Otherwise there would be no reason not to attend your best friend's wedding. Monica also knew this which is why she tried to encourage Rachel to say yes to the invite.

Emily wasn't a bad character, she was just given had characterization from the writers. I liked all of Ross' long term girlfriends on the show. It's too bad that the writers didn't have the relationships go further. I really liked Ross with Julie, and with Charlie. I thought both relationships were adorable.

The difference is that Rachel deleted it by accident, felt terrible about it, and then literally waited for Ross to get home to tell him that Emily left a message. Meanwhile, Ross twice (once in the earlier seasons and another time after they had a baby) completely hid from Rachel the fact that guys called her.
