Love this idea! I’m doing something similar, but I don’t have a sock machine so just “regular” knit socks for me. I love the yarns you and your husband picked. It’ll be great fun watching you make these!

All those yarn are so beautiful 😍. I’m always in a dilemma when I buy yarn. It’s so pretty that I just want to gaze lovingly at it and at at the same time I can’t wait to get it on the needles 😂 the struggle is real 🤪🤣

Love the idea of a box of socks for Christmas and I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite skein as they are gorgeous. I would love to see a monthly update. In Feb I decided to try and knit a pair of socks each month and then with the left overs I’m making a Litmus cowl so I’ll not only have the socks but a cowl with all the same yarns. Have a great week.

I love all those colors you both picked out!! and I was laughing because you said you wanted to knit from your stash, but most of those were from the shop (new yarns). Its soo hard to knit what you already have!

You've got a lot of gorgeous yarns picked out-happy sock knitting to you! I'm knitting 12 pair of socks for my daughter for Christmas-started the process in January. I've been picking patterns to go with each month-it's been fun-and not as easy as I thought it would be! My original plan was to order a cedar box from Knit Picks but it looks like they're not carrying them any more. :( Your link goes to a product demonstration video, and the link for the boxes goes to a page of nothing. I wish they were still carrying them. I'll be going to a plan B for her gift I guess.
I vote yes for the monthly update! I would like to additionally suggest that if you do make monthly update videos, you make a playlist for them to make it easier to follow along. Good luck making all 24 pairs!

Lovely yarn choices. It will be amazing to watch your journey on knitting all these beautiful yarns. A monthly check in would be great. Are you going to crank them all out? Or do some by hand? Thank you for the recommendation on Yarnaceous Fibers. Anything with dinos is popular at our house. My mum taught us how to find fossils, we taught our kids, now they are teaching their kids. The Sweet Skein o'Mine - Wow! And yes, I have yarns with special stories. It's funny since I cannot remember so many things, yet can remember where I purchased almost every skein of yarn I own. I mark them now, so I don't have to remember, but I still do.
I'll be cranking mostly, maybe a few handknit here and there :). You're so welcome

I learned how to knit socks late July last year, finishing my first sock in early August done on my cheap dpn bamboo sticks. I had 4 balls of sock yarn gifted to me, which made my decision to learn how to make them despite a long standing view that making socks seemed a waste of time given they're so cheap to buy and I don't wear socks during warm weather. Well, I loved my sock and I wanted to use up my sock yarn for socks so kept going.
A lady I associate with saw my second pair and insisted she wanted to buy them from me, right there where we were in a meeting and I'd just finished them. I was reluctant but with all the faces on me I allowed her to pay me for them by covering the cost of buying some more yarn for me to make another pair. She insisted on paying me enough for yarn to make 2 pairs and everyone would not let me refuse.
I was not only enjoying making socks by now but also loving the socks I made. So I ended up buying yarn for 10 pairs lol. I went on to make more socks while I waited for the online yarn order to arrive and a friend of mine, who doesn't know how to knit, saw the socks I was making and showed me her hand made socks her aged mother had made for her years ago that she treasured but needed darning. This gave me my first hands on view at socks someone else had knitted. I said I'd be happy to darn them for her, which I did and was very appreciated. My friend also found that there was 2 balls of sock yarn still in the craft bags her mother had left her with before going into care and asked if I could use them. Sure. Given I was enjoying making socks I said I'd be happy to make her a couple of pairs of socks from them. To her delight I did, one plain and my first patterned pair which honed my skills and my friend really loves.
I kept a record for the socks I was knitting, mainly to be sure I'd make that second sock exactly as I made the first. I had knit quite a few pairs and got into a sock knitting roll so decided on my "100 sock project". As in not stopping till I had made 50 pairs. Maybe it was an excuse to buy even more yarn, which I had to do for it to happen, but I finished my 100 sock project last February. I even went on to make 5 more pairs before delving into other projects again, including finishing up some long waiting WIPs.
I'm sure if a beginner sock knitter like me can hand make 50 pairs between August and February, I have no doubt making a couple dozen over the next 5-6 months using a machine will be easy for you to achieve.
