Yet another great insight to other caravans that sadly won’t fit on our drive, but non the less very informative so thanks again Dan for your efforts. By the way your secret is safe with us if it is what you want, we’ll done to you all you deserve it and it’s well earned.
Thankyou for a great review Dan. It helped us in part to make the decision to order a Porto to replace our Grande Pegasus. After viewing the caravan at the NEC we agreed that it is one of the nicest caravans we have seen in a long while, and combined with a strong trade in value for our current model, we put pen to paper. For what it's worth, the dealer (speaking frankly after the deal was done) has said that the Porto in particular was selling incredibly well, and I can see why. I'd find it difficult to be without an eight foot wide caravan now, an opinion echoed by the wife, who remarks how every inch counts...
Enjoyed all your videos since starting caravanning last year. Had 2 Bailey's already and were looking at this new Alicanto as the keeper but decided to go for the Cartagena. We just cant live with the cramped loo, 6-3 tall and the step shower....the step is thin and flexible so you cant step on it. The middle door soon became a pain as we tried out the Pamplona for an 8 day holiday. Swapped for the Cartagena that has the same layout as our original black edition Vigo, our kids have left home now so it suits us. Keep up the content, really enjoy it and hope you have many adventures to come.
Hi Dan, this is van I have wanted ever since it first came out. I’m glad I waited now as this model is far superior to the original. Our new Porto is arriving in August 2022….can’t wait. Thanks for all your hard work in detailing each and every aspect of caravanning, it has helped us many times. Perhaps we need to set up a Porto club😀.
Dan, that looks amazing. With the upgraded load capacity on the Porto it has removed one of our final hurdles to buying one.. just now need to find a way to export one to Germany. I'm looking forward to seeing yours when it arrives and your new adventures.
A really professional review there of two VERY nice caravans. Got to agree with your comments about the 'disco' lighting & the clear bathroom window. Don't keep us in suspense Dan - have you bought the Porto?
We are off to the show to see the Porto next week. We are told by our dealer that the build quality of the new is far superior to the old porto and more akin to the unicorn build, have you seen both old and new? Would you say the build quality is improved? Cheers
Great review. Prefer the twin axle just because of the space in the washroom. The bed looks amazing and defo a selling point. The lights under the seats do look a bit tacky, the white light not so bad but multicolour - not for me.
Enjoyed the detailed overview Dan and I like the new side windows. The Alicante must be a modern day equivalent to the old Retreat model. No doubt they will fit the flush fit Piuma side windows to other caravans as they launch new models. Cheers, Rob
I would buy this caravan for the bed alone and I think Bailey are on to a winner with this. If you have a king size bed at home you don’t want to downsize when you are on holiday.
Stunning, Lord let me win the Loto this week so I can order one. Love Bailey Vans I have a minted 2011 Bailey Olympus twin axle with not a dent or scratch on it, has never gave me any trouble solid and robust. INTERIOR GRP WALL BOARDS LAST A LIFETIME. Not like the 2017 Lunar Venus I had which fell to bits roof leaked, panels separated , wall boards peeled off, front cracked ext ext. Light weight vans are dung shake to bits.
Hi Mr T. We like this van. There has been a bit of thought gone into this build. Daft things, seating position, Wi-Fi, grooves/in worktop, wireless charging, proper wash basin, under the bed storage access, flush fitting windows. Only one criticism £. Bailey are sneakily putting these vans in the price bracket of the high end caravans . All in all BEauTiFul caravan.
Nobody does it better Dan! Great video, i too like the Porto, not sure about the lack of flyscreens/blinds on the front windows and no curtains, though. Maybe i am too traditional.
Great vlog as always Dan, I wonder why they would put a clear window in the bathroom of the Porto????? We love our Bailey but sometimes you have to wonder what goes on in their designs department.
Good job, must admit, I do like those curvy wardrobes, especially if it makes space for a king size. Look forward to your vlogging in it later in the year 😉
Wow ! Both gorgeous. Prefer the optional fabrics although both are nice. Agree about the snazzy coloured lights , we are not keen either. Will be watching to see if you are getting one Dan 👍👍
Love your videos, they have been so helpful, especially since we bought our first caravan last year. They have been so helpful. I have one question…. How do you clean under a factory fitted solar panel? There’s only about a couple inches of space and it is already looking green. Any tips?
Good video Dan. Would have liked even more info as I can’t get to the show. However, it was enough to tempt me BUT if I got the twin axle I’d need a bigger tow car so it’s probably not going to happen. PS you are looking so well recently. Must have missed something but I assume whatever you have is responding to treatment. Good luck.
Very posh vans! But having only just upsized from a Freedom Sunseeker to a new to us Pageant 6 Monarch, these look mahoosive to me :) I have to agree and don't like the LED lighting so much. Maybe I can persuade my better half to have a look around if they're at the CCC show this year ;)
I’m getting my new Porto next month I believe I will be one off the first in the uk to own one if not the first I had the last Porto which came with a onboard water tank dose the new model Cheers Chris
The Porto is a really nice van and I'd agree, maybe one of the nicest I've seen. One question - what vehicle kerb weight would you need to pull that safely. So good to see you back on the vlogs again.
@Mike Clifton that's a hefty vehicle. I often wonder do the majority of vans like this end up on seasonal pitches. Thanks for your reply. Keep safe if you're near Eunice.
Hi Dan, great summary of the new range, we have a 2020 Porto and after watching yours and the official Bailey videos, I personally wouldn't change at the moment, a shame really as we were waiting with anticipation over the last few weeks to see if it was worth upgrading but in our opinion, what Bailey have taken away such as the kitchen larder cupboard and wardrobe space for us outweigh the new additions in the bathroom and only an extra 2" on the bed width. Totally agree on the mood lighting, maybe I'm too old now but it's not for me either. Would be interested to know your view, I think self levelling would have been a major win for Bailey as some of the competition are adding E&P in this price bracket now so a little disappointed to not see the E&P as standard equipment, we added it to ours and it's like night and day :) I hope you get the new Porto and enjoy it, it does look a great van and you'll have no issue pulling it with the new tug, stay safe and well..
Both are large 8ft caravans with small beds. I don't consider 3 ft 9 or 4 ft wide to be a generous size for a double bed.. Similarly whilst the main bed is excellent at 5ft wide it is only a maximum of 6ft 3" long with substantial loss of area due to the rounded ends. Good video by the way Dan.
Good video & review but think they have still missed the edge on luxury. Much prefer the Buccaneer Commodore which im due to take delivery next month. For £2,500 extra the Buccaneer includes E&P levelling & under floor heating & are built more solid than Bailey but each to their own i suppose . I had a Bailey back in 2003 Senator range & that was lovely.
Both stunning caravans, but the washroom windows! I thought they looked bad on the new unicorn, but the Porto is even higher! The only thing letting it down, and as you said the back end to me does look a little plain and boring for such a great looking caravan from the front and sides 👎🏻
These are beautiful caravans, unfortunately my caravan days are over now my partner sold our caravan while we were away last year on holiday to dealers at park we were staying at went on holiday on the Saturday he sold it on the Tuesday. So needless to say he is ex now. As I don’t drive caravan days are over. Take care and stay safe x
Hi Dan. Enjoyed the vlog and were impressed by some aspects of the vans. Some interesting touches but as we're not terribly impressed with Bailey build quality right now, we won't be rushing to order I'm afraid. Thanks for an interesting and informative vlog, as ever. Take care. George and Trish, CaravanningMacs
These caravans are lovely, unfortunately my caravan days are over thanks to my partner, while on holiday last year he sold our caravan while we were away, went on holiday on Saturday he sold it on the Monday had to empty it all into car on Tuesday needless to say he is ex now. Caravan holidays over for me as I don’t drive. x stay safe and well x
The payload on both these caravans are frankly scandalous. It is verging on mis-selling. Add a motor mover, extra gas cylinder, some bedding, a couple of pans, plates, cups and cutlery and you exceed capacity never mind a few necessary bits and bobs such as hitch lock, wheel lock, electric cable and so on.
@@TheTrudgians true, but doesn’t make it right. It is a real concern how many people are actually not towing safely. It surprises me that with all the developments, technology and fantastic advances in van design over the last 10 years that fundamental structural, yet lightweight improvements haven’t been advanced to tackle this issue.

Always a highlight of the week when I see a new video pop up from the one and only Dan T!

Well, back away from the switch then and don’t turn them on.
Finally! A caravan that gives a decent size bed rather than massive wardrobes! Well done Bailey!
Dear Mr Bank Manager,
Hi Dan, can you remember if the middle front window on the Porto 2 had a fly screen. Thanks.....
Greg video Dan. The Lunar Alaria that had a 5’ wide king size bed in it too, so it’s good to finally see another manufacturer offer this.
Enjoyed the detailed overview Dan and I like the new side windows. The Alicante must be a modern day equivalent to the old Retreat model. No doubt they will fit the flush fit Piuma side windows to other caravans as they launch new models. Cheers, Rob
I’ve never owned a caravan and probably never will, but I do love these videos!
I would buy this caravan for the bed alone and I think Bailey are on to a winner with this. If you have a king size bed at home you don’t want to downsize when you are on holiday.
Great video and review. I WANT BOTH! All the best Dan. Thanks for sharing. Mike.

Nice review Dan. Both vans look very nice. The layout is the one for us but not the price!
Cheers
Loving the Porto Dan👍
Are you sure those measurements for front double are right? It’s barely double width
The Porto is a really nice van and I'd agree, maybe one of the nicest I've seen.
One question - what vehicle kerb weight would you need to pull that safely. So good to see you back on the vlogs again.
Working on the Caravan and Motorhome Club 85% recommendation you'll need about a 2200kg towcar - safely into big 4x4 territory.
@Mike Clifton that's a hefty vehicle. I often wonder do the majority of vans like this end up on seasonal pitches. Thanks for your reply. Keep safe if you're near Eunice.
A vw tiguan or seat/Skoda equivalent would do it we have a tiguan allspace 2wd that tow's 2.5tonnes
Our old BMW 5 series estate would tow this without an issue. You’ll be surprised what cars are available to tow larger caravans.
@@rob_jarvis For safe and comfortable towing it is more important what the car weighs ( as long as the towing capacity is sufficient).
Dan, are you guys getting a Porto ? 👍👍

Nice van but agree the coloured lights are a bit naff. Apart from that really nice.
Lovely van Dan, I’m not a fan of the coloured Led lights either, I’d prefer nice dim able white.

Love the Porto
Happy new caravan then. They both look nice but I would need a different car so I think I will stick with my valencia black edition.

Sorry to hear this Linda what a rotter.
Learn to drive ? Never too late. Show that arsehole
Can’t beat a good twin axle especially when there is only two of you…. It’s an apartment on wheels!
Love the twin but you're going to need a RangeRover to tow it,
Actually, my old BMW 5 series would be more than capable of towing this. You’ll be amazed what can tow a 2 tonne ‘van 👍
