Great video Dan, you would have thought Alde would have solved this problem by now. We have a 2016 Swift Callenger 480 with the same problem ,showing inaccurate temperatures on the display. The sensor is a life saver and works brilliantly.
I have had this Alde kit for a few weeks and have been trying to decide where to put it. You have now encouraged me to give it a go using your positioning. Like you, i feel the ambient light thing is not very nice, so i am really looking forward to your upgrade! Excellent stuff as always, Dan.
Pleasing to have a short job not turn into a whole day. I did exactly the same to my Alde heated Bailey motorhome. The control panel was just below the roof panel. Way too high for its internal sensor to work out temperature where humans were seated. Once fitted the temperature was much more aligned to our requirements. I used an IR temp gun to monitor sensor temperature with furniture temperature over a range of target temps. Agree it’s a bit costly but it worked well so money well spent. Also did the external sensor at same time. Again an easy fit apart from squeezing cable through an already crowded channel.
As a point of interest. Not to do with the sensor, but it is a good idea to run your AC system once a month (this goes for the one in your car as well) to keep it in shape. It helps lubricate the seals, etc. One thing I was wondering? Can you run it in heat & cool at the same time? As this would make it dehumidify!! Very useful if you're doing a lot of cooking etc.
Hi David, no its either heat or cooling not both at the same time. In terms of running it once a month, we never did that in the last caravan in the 5 years we had it. And I might be wrong, but the maintenance tips don't mention this either in the booklets. That said, i might have missed that part - so please forgive me if i'm wrong. Take care Dan
@TheTrudgians mainly my advice comes from a car system and I'm assuming it applies to a caravan style also. The idea is it keeps all the seals lubricated, which in turn keeps the refrigant in the system rather than escaping. Shame it can't act as a dehumidifier as that would be a cool feature! (Excuse the pun!!) All though on straight AC it'll dehumidify, it'll just get cold while you are doing it.
Nice little video Dan good to know how easy it can be completed. Did you manage to sort out your issue with the water pump cycling on & off with the Whale ic controller?
Yes and no. I installed the IC Controller, and it made it worse. There is a leak (i think in the one way valve in the housing) that is draining water back into the AquaRoll. All will become clear in a future video.
Hi Dan. I've got the same problem with my Pegasus Grande SE. The Truma A/C runs at full speed when the temperature is a plesent 23 the temp sensor in the inet app says 30°C. The sensor is mounted near the roof above the TV and the fridge.
On our last caravan (that had Truma) the sensor was mounted, behind teh microwave by the door. So the temperature was never what the caravan thought it was.

Glad it was helpful!
Love you installing Vlogg you make it so easy to understand
I appreciate that! Thank you
