I appreciate that! It can be tempting to post the video right as I finish the build, but I think showing it after a few months gives people an idea of what to expect if they try making one themselves😃
You probably won't see this but I started watching your videos during Covid and you really inspired me to take something I'd always wanted to do and make it a reality. I followed many of your tutorials and your informative yet no nonsense approach always made you a top choice. Here we are years later and I'm the proud owner of multiple terrariums, vivariums, animals and the like. Thank you sir for giving me a hobby to be proud of
It feels illegal to be this early, but I absolutely love your videos - especially as you share what you used to make it all! Thank you so much for keeping the content coming. :)
Now I'm imagining a boggy/marshy build with carnivorous plants present. I bought a drosera in the summer and I like imagining how it would be in the wild!
Really cool! I have made no filter ponds before and I had a lot of success! I love the swamp vibe. You really should consider making a paludarium for a newt or salamander!
i always loved terrariums, and yours are some of the best terrarium videos i have ever seen on youtube! I adore your videos and im glad i havs found you Quick idea btw, what if you made a community post askins for future terrarium suggestions? Id have a few ideas myself, you dont have to do this ofcourse, its fully up to you, but i just thought it would be a cool idea to get your community involved more Regardless im excited to see your future terrariums and what you have in store! 👍
I've an itch place a mug on top of one of those tree branches chopped almost horizontally. Or perhaps you could put a pot on it and grow something else in it.
Terrarium designs can you possibly make a collab with Worcester I think it would be very interesting and lots of people will think so too and I’m sure whatever happens in it will be lovely
actually yes - designed my "buce tank" about Aug.2023. Tearing it down today. And you put out a video on darn near the same tank. INCLUDING LITROLLA UNIFLORA but it's missing in the final shot - melted? I"m restarting w/ an Akadama base, buce on lava and small patches of C.parva, L.Uniflora, Lilaeopsis brasiliensis and marsilea H. let me know your thoughts please
Great timing!😃 yes a few patches melted unfortunately, it is bouncing back but just very slowly… As for your setup that sounds like a great assortment of plants. Let me know how the Akadama goes, I’m tempted to try a scape with that myself!
Hi! I want to build a terrarium, but I’m only at home every other week and can only take care of it then. What animals and plants do you recommend? For a 20 gallon terrarium
I recently made a no filter build and I have a piece of Mopani wood in it and I have to change my water every week because discoloration and a bad odor. Any ideas what could be causing that?
to start a terrarium for the first time, do you recommend ordering everything separately online, or going to an in-person store like petco or another physical store?
Don't do either, go in your backyard or for a quick walk. Di amount of gravel, soil, sand, plants, animals and hardscape you'll find will amaze you. yuh blow Suh much money n lose Di opportunity a do it right cuz guys like dis wid mommy n daddys money buy everyting n don't have nuh discipline, also nah use silicone use snails n yuh never need water changes den
@@rastareptilerescue i dont live in an area with easily accessible greenery. i picked some sticks and rocks, but i cannot find plants, moss, and components for the soil mix
Good question, I’ve good the stems in the water with the majority of the leaves out of the water. Its roots do really well underwater and do a great job at pulling nutrients.
Maybe someone can help me, I have made multiple pond and nano tanks like this before but I always hace the issue of mold getting in the wood that is outside the water and have to remove it so my fish wouldnt get sick or anything like that. does anyone knows what could be the issue or how could I fix it?
It's Di type a wood yuh using, guys make videos n refuse to address dis like it doh happen fi us all, affi soak wood ahead of time inna blank tank, if it don't mold after a week or 2 throw it in yuh system, if it do scrape it bake it n try it again inna blank run

i tried to make one but i did it poorly and i knew it wasnt going to be succesful but now with a bit more expirience and more plants and creatures i can make no filter ecosystems with ease but i dont have glass tanks🥲
I use glass jars, bottles, thrift stores have some cool tings too, once yuh start looking around everyting can be used as a terrarium, just stick to glass, acrylics and plastics can have varied result

THIS LOOKS SOOO NATURAL. which fish would you put here if u have to?
Great scape. Is the tank home made?
Regards Duzzy🇦🇺
Might i así, what do you think about plastic miniatures on terrariums?
ttrpg version of this stuff could be awesome
I should do somthing like that but bigger for a baby redtail
I think you and worchester terrariums should collab
It's beautiful but where can I buy the plants and shrimp and snails at if I decide to make a water scape.❤
I get most of the materials from my local fish shop:)
Uses whole tree.
"I've quickly realized that these larger pieces are a bit big for this build." 😄
😅😂
I didn't even know you could order cork bark that still had wood inside
For this particular tank set up, how do you perform a water change and how much of the water do you actually replace?
Good question, I use a tube to siphon out the water & only change about 15-20%
Moss on the bark?
YOU KNOW WHAT ELS IS MASSIVE LOW TAPER FADE
does cork ever leach tannins? this is strikingly similar to a build im working on.
It does but only very slightly. I do actually think it looks slightly better with the tanned water as well, adds to the swampy vibe:)
Need to put some Spanish moss hanging in there and then it’d be perfect

Hi. Does the pilea glauca do well being submerged or does it need some growth to be emersed? I never knew it could be used like this
Good question, I’ve good the stems in the water with the majority of the leaves out of the water. Its roots do really well underwater and do a great job at pulling nutrients.
@@TerrariumDesigns cool thanks. Imma give it a try
Do the shrimp try to escape with a open top???? Mines gets out of a regular tank😂
How do you avoid mosquito larvae in this kind of setup? 😭 I am making similar project but the larvae have drive me crazy 😭
I haven’t had any issues with them. If I did I’d probably temporarily install a small pump to get the water moving
Cut branches to height of terrarium yuh using and put lid on, closed systems cyaan produce larvae:)
You should break the wood naturally.
Maybe someone can help me, I have made multiple pond and nano tanks like this before but I always hace the issue of mold getting in the wood that is outside the water and have to remove it so my fish wouldnt get sick or anything like that. does anyone knows what could be the issue or how could I fix it?

Does this setup need alot of light and will external insects be drawn to it, dont want flies everywhere in the house 😂
Is that sugru
I'm so confused by all aquarium and ecosystem channels speaking about "dechlorinated" tap water.
😂 right, just get water test strips, most municipal water is chlorine free nowadays 😆😆😆
@rastareptilerescue I'm honestly confused by dechlorinated/chlorine free. Do (did?) you all get your municipal water from public swimming pools, or what? Hello
It's com-pohst numb nuts but anyway great video
❤😊🎉
Water change monthly isn't maintenance free by any stretch
It's a 5.4L aquarium. Taking 2L of water out of a glass container once a month is not maintenance.
He siphons out about 20% of the water and replaces it with fresh dechlorinated water. Once a month. That’s about as easy as it gets.
@@HBrszyes it deh Suh, mi systems never have water changes that's true self sufficiency
@@sandramays795try never having to touch it and nature truly thriving inna sealed space, that's as easy as it get 😅
Is it really a swamp if it doesn't have mosquitoes? lol
