Hiya 🌞, IMO "a girl cant have too much fabric!"😅lol!(Before l was invalided out of my Nursing Career c45yrs),l took to buying afew pieces for retirement when l thought ld not be able to afford to buy much!- now at 73yrs am still quilting hard!& loveing ❤it! People tend to give me their grandparents stashes & l can pass many on as well as help many young people start upon their sewing journey too.Having so much fun as an oldie! Love ❤ your video and enjoying learning about the sprays (- am an old style hand quilter in the main as l enjoy appliques.) Have a great time and all your followers!Best wishes, J.I.M.K Mrs. Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺 ♥ 😀
Thinking we have too much fabric is such a great dilemma to have, right?!! I love that you're enjoying quilting and especially sharing what you have as well as what you know. Retirement is an incredible blessing for me and I love, love sharing with others. Who ever thought I'd be teaching online. My fabric stash began in a similar fashion as yours. I bought and collected it while I was working, using some along the way but mostly storing. My fat quarter stash reached 1K pieces when I knew I had to start using it! It's been a wonderful adventure ever since. Thanks for sharing your inspiring story and may you continue to be blessed in your quilting and sharing your love of quilting for many years to come! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Is it just me or does everyone feel soothed by this voice? The cadence in your speech is spectacular. I am using your ideas because they are great, but I also replay your videos while I'm sewing for background happy feelings.
What an awesome comment, Virginia! Thanks so much for following along and playing my videos as quilting sound-scapes! That's a great compliment. 😊 Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Fun projects! You're so right about the price of fabric nowadays. I used to tell me late husband that my fabric collection was my 401k plan and also insulation. Now I'm thankful that I collected while I had the money. And now that I'm looking at 70 in December - I'm in a mad panic to get through as much of my stash as possible in the time I have left! My mom lived to be 100 but I doubt that will be me. Anyway - I think I've made 7 or 8 quilts this year - not bad for me.
Oh wow, that's fantastic Sadie! Keep up the great work. If you ever think of passing along some fabric, keep both the Project Linus and Sew Renewable groups in mind. PL provides quilts for children's hospitals, and SR sells fabric they acquire from estates and/or donations. Their effort is to connect with quilters who will use the fabric and purchase it at a lower price. Just something to think about. Sure appreciate you following along. If you keep pictures of your quilts, I'd sure love to see them. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise email: lealouise@inspiredquiltingbylealouise.com
I also have a stash n 88 yrs old I MAKE travel size pillows to sell. My kids are asking will you get all sewed up. Probably not in my lifetime but a remnants make me happy.
Wow, thank you for such an awesome compliment! Quilting is what I've done for decades and I love sharing it. I'm very blessed to be able to do this plus have such an incredible audience following along. Appreciate you watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Get to quilting, Connie! What are your plans for your next quilt? Don't let that fabric sit too long!! 😂 Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
You may not experience difficulty ironing many strips sewm together at a time if you finger press each seam before sewing the next strip. Makes ironing a 1000x's easier doing all your seams this way, not with just strips. I learned this from Donna Jordan's videos. Just a tip that made a huge difference for my pressing. Love your videos and I appreciate your time and talent. Babs near Tombstone AZ
❤ Wonderful tutorial as always. June Tailor has an awesome basting spray! That's all I use if using a basting spray. No fumes, no gunk. Thank you for sharing!
Hello , hope your well, thank you for this vlogg, love the things you make with scraps , thank you. Helps us all that have left overs. Hehe, cutting actual waste right down to min , however scraps look good made up . Thank you for sharing l I am currently making your large material basket . This will match fingers x my EPP hexie quilt , giving me a basket for my creams hand creams etc for my bedside drawers l maybe also do a couple of coasters . Like your quilting idea . Simple but effective .
Thanks so much, Carmen! 😊 Glad you enjoyed my tutorial. Making these small projects is a nice break from larger quilts. It's also a great way to try some new ideas. Sure appreciate you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Thanks for the tip on condensation. I hadn't heard of that before. I made MANY potholders years ago but gave them as gifts so don't think I used any. I think I learned then to put the insulbright next to the bottom fabric because it reflects the heat, and put a piece of cotton batting on the side your hand touches. I probably didn't know about Thermolam then. I appreciate the update.
Who knew that quilters also need to know a bit of science, Carol? Just shows we are very knowledgeable in addition to being creative! Love you comment, thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Great to hear from you and pray you're doing well! These are some great projects that are easy to make and perfect for scrap quilting. That means they are very economical and which is perfect for this gift-giving time of year. Sure appreciate you following along. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
So glad you enjoyed these, Constance! They can be as simple or intricate as you want which allows for a lot of personalization. Have fun making your own! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
That's wonderful, Diann! Get that fabric pulled together and start deciding on some ideas you want to start with. Staring at a pile of fabric without a plan can be daunting! Sometimes I can get a bit overwhelmed and just turn and walk away. LOL Once I have a plan it all goes smoothly. Have fun with your fabrics! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Thanks for stopping by to watch, Jayne! This is a fun project and makes great gifts for any season. I may back up a little and quilt some fall fabrics for placemats. Sure appreciate you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
You are absolutely right, Kelley! So glad they are this easy to make. Do you use the Insul-Bright? It's awesome for making these. Thanks so much for following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
i have intended to make them, we are empty nesters, our main private living area is upstairs…so nightly i carry dinner plates upstairs. i like to use plates that go in the oven, keeps the food warm, but carrying them upstairs is a challenge. planning to get this project started.
I never knew which side to place the insul bright. I also learned about using batting on both sides. Can 100% cotton batting be used? Thank you so much.
Yes I do, Carla. Usually it's a shade of gray. I have an assortment of threads from light to darker gray. It makes piecing so much easier using the same colors. Otherwise I end up with so many bobbins with different colors that don't get reused and just get tangled up. I'm actually thinking about trying the pre-wound bobbins that are now available. Thanks so much for your question! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Would you believe years, Sarah! It's amazing. I actually spray basted a quilt, set it aside during a move and it was more than a year before I got back to it. It was still basted just as I had left it. Since it had been folded up for so long, I had to smooth out some creases from the folds. Other than that, it held perfectly. It works great! You can buy smaller size cans a bit cheaper to give it a try. Or go to Joann.com and use their coupons to get a discount. Just watch out for the overspray by covering the area around your quilt. I use old sheets and it works great, you just need to wash it after as it'll stick to itself when folded up. My favorite part is not having to use all those safety pins!!! Thanks so much for your comment. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I probably would have sewn all the finished geese into sets of the three for each side and then joined the upward facing geese to the downward facing geese. But I may be a bit lazy. 😂
That's a great idea, too! These we're laid out in order so it was just easiest to sew them that way. Besides, I'm not used to having so few to work with! I generally have 50 or more to contend with. These small quilting projects have been a nice change of pace. Thanks so much for following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
That's right, Dorris! The metal woven in solves that problem as does the cotton batting on each side. It's a great product! Thanks for following along. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
They just don't know what they are missing, do they Donna?! Mixing all those colors together is the best part for me. Thanks so much for your comment! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Olá, gostei muito de seu vídeo!! Obrigada! 🤗🌹
Que bom que você gostou de assistir, Elisabeth! Obrigado por acompanhar. Feliz acolchoamento,

Large hot pads are great! Been making them for years. I got tired of the silly square ones that don’t fit big casserole dishes.
You are absolutely right, Kelley! So glad they are this easy to make. Do you use the Insul-Bright? It's awesome for making these. Thanks so much for following along! Happy Quilting,

I never knew which side to place the insul bright. I also learned about using batting on both sides. Can 100% cotton batting be used? Thank you so much.
I’d use a rolling pin to unroll batting.
Great idea, Shiela! That's a handy way to do it! Thanks so much for watching. Happy Quilting

Pool noodles are great for layering small quilts. Would be great for these.
Noodles and PVC plumbing
Met beaucoup ❤
Merci d'avoir regardé, Monique! Happy Quilting,

Do you always sew with a neutral thread when piecing your tops?
Yes I do, Carla. Usually it's a shade of gray. I have an assortment of threads from light to darker gray. It makes piecing so much easier using the same colors. Otherwise I end up with so many bobbins with different colors that don't get reused and just get tangled up. I'm actually thinking about trying the pre-wound bobbins that are now available. I love batiks. They are my favorite. How long does the adhesive keep a regular quilt layers together?
Would you believe years, Sarah! It's amazing. I actually spray basted a quilt, set it aside during a move and it was more than a year before I got back to it. It was still basted just as I had left it. Since it had been folded up for so long, I had to smooth out some creases from the folds. Other than that, it held perfectly. It works great! Thank you for showing me how to make 4 at a time flying geese. That piece looks so weird.
You’re welcome, Gwen! 😊 It is an unusual way to create the FG but it sure works great! Happy Quilting,

It sure makes our stash and scraps look so much better, Mona! Thanks for watching. Happy Quilting,

Did you know that Insulbright is polyester?
That's right, Dorris! The metal woven in solves that problem as does the cotton batting on each side. It's a great product! Thanks for following along. Happy Quilting,
Lea Louise
Haha, your intro tickles me. The French make fun of Americans who cut up pieces to quilt. They quilt fabric, periods. Lol
They just don't know what they are missing, do they Donna?! Mixing all those colors together is the best part for me. Thanks so much for your comment! Happy Quilting,
