I so sick of this shit, I guarantee you apple makes these things shitty on purpose so people will have to keep buying them over, and over again. I've had my iPhone for over 2 years now and I've gone through 5 of these damn cables, and the 6th one is almost done for now too. Overall I really liked my iPhone, but for lone fact that I have had to spend over $100 to keep buying new cables is the reason why as soon as I am eligible for a new phone I am going to get a android and never buy an apple product again. FUCK YOU APPLE!
Buy an Apple Lightning to 30 pin adapter and a decent 30 pin cable like a Belkin one, that's what I'm gonna do - will cost me £30 initially but will save money in the long term
This is my 12th time a FUCKEN iPhone 5 cable it's so useless it just keeps wrecking and I tht ways the point spending $30 a stupid charger when u can just buy one from a cheap store for $5 fuck Apple Samsung just got new and loyal customer. But honestly if u want to stop payin $30 just find a cheap store who sells it for $5
DRMIN3R I tried that, my normal iPhone cable lasts between 30-40 days, the cheap nylon weave one i bought lasted 12, so It works out as the same cost for me
Oh, well this looks like something just absolutely fucking anyone can do, oh yeah. BECAUSE I JUST JAVE BOX CUTTERS AND SHIT LAYING AROUND MY HOUSE FOR NO REASON, HMMMMM YEAH OF COURSE. I fucking hate apple chargers
thank you for the video. i followed your instructions and was able to repair my broken cable. however, it is not an easy repair. i even have a positionable magnifying glass with articulating arms and small clamps at the end. even with this i found soldering to be extremely difficult. the wires are so small and close that it was difficult to keep them from touching once soldered. TIP: if you are left-handed, solder from RIGHT to LEFT (and if you are right-handed then left to right). doing so means you arent holding the soldering tool across the wires you have already soldered (dont ask me how i know this) and not undoing your work.
GREAT VIDEO - Lazy yuppies would rather diss ingenuity, complain and buy a new cable and have it break 45 days later. Thank you for showing that it is possible to fix. I can't wait to plug in my new Hakko Soldering Station, and give it a try.
I’m terrorized by the extreme rudeness of most comments here. First, THANK YOU SO MUCH, this is just what I was looking for, your explanation was very easy and helpful, really, I live in the country side where I can’t find a new cable easily and I have the soldering machine, so I’m gonna fix mine right now! Thank you and keep it up. Secondly, YOU ARE ALL VERRY IGNORANT to think there are other ways than using a soldering machine, to fix (reconnect) electricity wires properly. STOP BEING RUDE AND HO BUY A NEW CABLE IF THAT DOESNT SUIT YOUR CHEAP ASSES!
Im pretty sure apple does this on purpose, but other companies do this as well! All computers get slower over time (also phones and tablets). but before steve jobs died, the cables used to last longer.
Wow that’s exactly what I was looking for. Every one has a glue gun and most people have the rest of the tools required to make this repair for free.... and you get mega points for asking people to comment what they didn’t like about the video. I don’t know if your a genius at a glutton or punishment. Good luck to you and thank you again for the great work
I'm glad you guys put up stuff like this but honestly the average person doesn't have "heat-shrink" or a "soldering gun" lying around. For about 7 bucks you can get a generic replacement cable on Amazon.
Thanks so much for the video! I'm going to try it tomorrow after work when I have a few minutes. After going through countless pricey cables, I'm sick of buying over and over again. Thanks again! 😀
Hello Could you please make a simple drawing of how to attach the cables in the lightning please. I could not recognize it in the video. I want to make one for in my car via usb charger. Now the iphone tells me every time "the device is'nt good"... Thanx
I admire your skill using the various implements to repair the cord! You can improve the video with a series of drawings that illustrate what you are doing, since the details seem important but are hard to see in the video. Especially the soldering part. Also, the video doesn't show the part where you use the glue gun to insulate each wire from its neighbors. Fault Apple for making cords that don't last and charging a high replacement fee. But you have shown the only real way to fix this common problem, other than replacement (knock-off cord should suffice-don't give Apple more profits when they caused the problem in the first place). Well done and thank you for taking the time to figure out the fix and to share with the world.
Very well done. I have repaired these cables as well. I especial like that you simply cut around the connector to slide it back away from the board. When I have repaired them I always have used heat shrink, but what you have done looks very well done as well.
Eddie Stevenson Thanks for your comment. You are absolutely correct sir :) but this video is for those people who already have these things at their home.(which most of the people do have)
Abdul Moiz Farooq, thanks for the video. While my issue with the lightning cable was not related to the cables coming apart, I was able to use your idea of using hot glue to reinforce my cable, which was coming apart (exposing the wire). This is such a simple concept, but brilliant!!! You saved me $20!!! :) Thanks again!!!!
Awesome video, been thinking about doing this for some time because new cables are really expensive, seeing that someone actually did it will nudge me over the start line.
You can sometimes use a heat gun or blow dryer to warm the internal glue and after quickly pull the cover off, instead of cutting it. The heat melts the glue inside and makes it easy to pull off the cover.
I will try anyone that really wants to learn something, I believe you can plus if you are very resourceful like I am it will be a challenge, and after you can say I did it, but I will be practising on a cheaper cable so I may get the hang of it, even at any age you can learn any think on U Tube, and this is really the learning channel Thanks to those that Volunteer the wisdom on any subject
I've a aftermarket cable The colour inside the cable are different it has a 1green 2red 3pink 4blue Should i install it the same way as the original one ? I mean I want to change the board cause it's cheap
Nice! thank you for uploading this video. Video was out of focus most of the time. next time try keeping the work area in focus and after completing your work; it would have been nice to see you charging an iphone with the cable you've just fixed. thank you
great video thanks!! wanted to know how to connect the remax charging cable to the top of the chip.since it has one pink and other three are white cables.
Still like the video. The only thing I could comment about is the fact that the camera wasn't always focused on the cable. Although, I realize that that isn't as easy. Maybe a more wide camera focus setting could help?
Or you might just go ahead and buy a new one to save you all the trouble. I just had both my two USB cables (one i use in my car and the other i use in my house) malfunction in the exact week. Coincidence or is there an actual setup for these things failing by the manufacturer?
Thanks buddy! I thought something like this was happening to my chargers. Im sick of buying new ones and paying these companies for making poor quality chargers. You might want to get your hands on some alligator clip holders to help you with these kinds of repairs.
Thanks and good job on the video, very informative. I have two suggestions though, no one really calls soldering irons soldering machines. Also, you should set your camera to manual focus(don't know if your cam has the capabilities) and focus in just a tad when you're keeping your distance consistent. At the end I wanted to take a closer look, but your camera didn't allow it. C
Yeah, we need a solution that doesn't involve 47 tools that nobody has and a ton of skills that have little purpose unless it's your job and that nobody would ever learn unless they are some sort of engineer or electrician
don't get it from Walmart then... also you guys must be bunches pf lazy apes if you're complaining about not having Soldering Tools and glue guns at home... there are lots of mainstream products that aren't soldered properly, so i clever thing to do would be to save yourself from the trouble and buy a small kit. of course, I'm not one to order you on how to spend your money and what to spend it on.
good work! but next time instead of silicone try to use shrink tube . This is the only video showing the cables inside the connectors. The others around just put the shrink tube and heated up. Well done.
I have gone thru 3 cables since September plus all my other cables don't work with my iPhone. I have had past mini USB cables of rmany years. Never has one broke.
Sorry so many gave you so much grief, including blasting Apple who will never see their gripes, whining because THEY never bought a soldering iron, etc., etc., ad nauseum. Five years ago, it was harder to find a cheap substitute cord for Apple's needlessly and hostilely proprietary ones. I'd look for a tinier iron, maybe cut the plug with a Dremel wheel (Oh dear, another expense!), and use a less gloppy adhesive than hot-melt glue (not to mention that most complainers didn't seem as irate about buying a glue gun). The only real gripe I had was that a lot of the video was fuzzy, making it harder to follow the speeded-up portion. Thanks for your help! Just remember, "No good deed goes unpunished."

I might actually try this. I mean i have nothing to lose...my charger doesn't work so i either throw it away like this, or try to fix it and break it even more in the process and throw it away after. Or theres like a 5% chance that i actually manage to fix it which would be nice...
Ok, update: i tied it and it looks nothing like yours on the inside. Its a legit lightning cable that i the box of my phone, and under the plastic theres like a metal cage, and some more plastic at the bottom. I will try to open the metal box and remove the plastic, hopefully the board is inside
Update: i needed a dremel for the metal box, and under the metal, there was more plasic. The board was molded in the plastic and i couldnt take off the plastic. I tried everything i could and then tried to melt it off, but it didnt work either. After some time of trying i managed to break the board off of the lightning part. So yeah. Fuck this
well im 13 i need something that i can do by myself im saving up for a new charger but im dying becuase my ipod is dead and i cant charge it everytime i try to pluge in the cord it dosnt even light u the apple it just pops up the sign thing that means it needs me to pluge in the cord ive only had it for a month does anyone know to do
I appreciate your know-how but this is too much work to save a crappy cable, assuming your fix lasts. End result looks pretty awful too. Diminishing returns my friend!

"Oh shit I'm a pleb with no tools at home except my diapers, better complain on a UA-cam video!"

Apples motto should be "designed to break just to pay" kinda fits there products iPhone 6 apple charger
no surprise there. You apple boys pay anyway
Wow that’s exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for making this video. But watching just pissed me off because my charger is messing up ugh Apple really needs to fix this problem.
***** maybe they do? 0_o
I'm glad you guys put up stuff like this but honestly the average person doesn't have "heat-shrink" or a "soldering gun" lying around. For about 7 bucks you can get a generic replacement cable on Amazon.
you gonna set your house on fire with this stuff simply buy a new charger.
do you know glue can melt too when it gets too hot?
Thanks so much for the video! I'm going to try it tomorrow after work when I have a few minutes.
After going through countless pricey cables, I'm sick of buying over and over again. Thanks again! 😀
the intro is eternal. ill be trying this on my 100 broken cables next.
Some of you think that the cables are "programmed" to fail. Well, I know people who have had one for years and it still works.
Hello
Could you please make a simple drawing of how to attach the cables in the lightning please. I could not recognize it in the video. I want to make one for in my car via usb charger. Now the iphone tells me every time "the device is'nt good"...
Thanx
The dudes tips actually worked so now I don’t need to buy fake crappy cable thx dude 😀
Very good, really apple's minimalist style!
I admire your skill using the various implements to repair the cord! That top silver part where you insert it in the phone to charge it fell apart is there some way that you can put it back together
I can see how it's taken apart but, I need to know where 1 through 4 go on the male side of charger thanks!!!
thank you for making this video was searching for at lest 30 mins to find out the sequence of wires
Very well done. I have repaired these cables as well. I especial like that you simply cut around the connector to slide it back away from the board. When I have repaired them I always have used heat shrink, but what you have done looks very well done as well.
I love how this was in focus
Soldering gun costs more than a new cord. this is a bit much
Eddie Stevenson Thanks for your comment. You are absolutely correct sir :) but this video is for those people who already have these things at their home.(which most of the people do have)
Eddie Stevenson not really. iphone cable costs 25eur where soldering irons is for 6eur. plus i do not like to throw aways stuff and i love to tinker.
***** video for those who are really poor look all the bunch of racist people they want thing but all uneducated they cant use any of these thing
Eddie Stevenson No it doesn't. Look up one on ebay
Eddie Stevenson A decent soldering gun costs 30 dollars way less than repeatedly buying cords.
Fixing broken things is a dying art. You da man!
It's a shame nice people like you are shoved down in the comments by people who couldn't do a better job, I think it was a great video, thanks!
Abdul Moiz Farooq, thanks for the video. While my issue with the lightning cable was not related to the cables coming apart, I was able to use your idea of using hot glue to reinforce my cable, which was coming apart (exposing the wire). Is your lightning cable original? Because mine has metal casing inside the plastic one so i can't get inside the wiring.
I will try anyone that really wants to learn something, I believe you can plus if you are very resourceful like I am it will be a challenge, and after you can say I did it, but I will be practising on a cheaper cable so I may get the hang of it, even at any age you can learn any think on U Tube, and this is really the learning channel Thanks to those that Volunteer the wisdom on any subject
does this same principle applies to a usb cable from an apple keyboard?
what kind of solder did u use?is 25 w solder iron too much ?or is tat ok ?
I've a aftermarket cable
The colour inside the cable are different it has a 1green 2red 3pink 4blue
Should i install it the same way as the original one ?
I mean I want to change the board cause it's cheap
Sorry bro I have no idea about this. But I dont think so installing the same way as original will work.
Thank you I'm going to try this out :)
Nice! thank you for uploading this video. Video was out of focus most of the time. next time try keeping the work area in focus and after completing your work; it would have been nice to see you charging an iphone with the cable you've just fixed. thank you
My wires for my I-Phone5 and my I-Pad don't have a black wire, just the red, green and white ones. So what do I do?
great video thanks!!
wanted to know how to connect the remax charging cable to the top of the chip.since it has one pink and other three are white cables.
Everyone here is complaining about this being “too difficult” and not owning a soldering iron. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Still like the video. The only thing I could comment about is the fact that the camera wasn't always focused on the cable. Although, I realize that that isn't as easy. Maybe a more wide camera focus setting could help?
Well thanks for this video, my problem is my usb cord doesn't recognize my Iphone on Itunes when i sync it.
Or you might just go ahead and buy a new one to save you all the trouble. I just had both my two USB cables (one i use in my car and the other i use in my house) malfunction in the exact week. Coincidence or is there an actual setup for these things failing by the manufacturer?
Didn't help, I'm stuck with no charger and 1% of charge ;-;
Same!!!!! Fml
Im just happy i didnt find another video that tells you to use a pen spring
Thanks buddy! I thought something like this was happening to my chargers. Im sick of buying new ones and paying these companies for making poor quality chargers. You might want to get your hands on some alligator clip holders to help you with these kinds of repairs.
Thanks and good job on the video, very informative.

Great, now I have to get an engineering degree to even know what you just told me to do. Another four years of uncharged Apple crap.
Yeah, we need a solution that doesn't involve 47 tools that nobody has and a ton of skills that have little purpose unless it's your job and that nobody would ever learn unless they are some sort of engineer or electrician
A soldering iron's like $6 at Walmart.
don't get it from Walmart then...

Exactly like wtf
Lmao
It would have been nice to see in this video that the damaged cable shown here was actually charging a phone, ipod, etc. after having "fixed" it.
Instead of using the hot glue to cover the wires back up. why not use heat shrink tubing?
Good video. I tried it but my charger is different!!!
Reason to dislike:
Long intro
Useless tip.
thanks, you deserves a 100 like, i was searching which colors are the power ones, and i was finding nowhere
Thank you for your support. Please subscribe for more videos
If the board with the wires is covered by metal, how do I remove it?
I couldn't see how/where the cable was actually broken. Very clear to hear.
Ain't nobody got time for that
Ik this is a working Idea but shidd this ain't workin for me
heat shrink would work after a thin glue to re-insulate and give a finished look
Thank you for sharing this!
Loved your tutorial!
good work! but next time instead of silicone try to use shrink tube . This is the only video showing the cables inside the connectors. The others around just put the shrink tube and heated up. Well done.
I have gone thru 3 cables since September plus all my other cables don't work with my iPhone. I have had past mini USB cables of rmany years. Never has one broke.
Very professionally crafted... lol

gonna try this on next broken cable, good job
Wow, im very surprised by these comments, ive had my phone almost 3 yrs still have the 1st cable :) its taped but it works :)
Good job mate, I'm sooo sick buying new chargers all the time :)
which wire and where have to sold???? i cant under stand through video ???
This video is good but what happen if the problem is not in the board but the cable it self
Your voice.. You sound like your saying this is pretty much shit😂
Hahah good one :D
+romain1mp i like your english :) 'you such a stupid'

Instructions unclear am now missing pinky finger.
Jokes aside great video. To bad I don't have a soldering iron.
Sending my cable to my Arab connect today!
Fuck just buy a fucking new cable
Rofl my thoughts exactly but thanks Abdul for the instructional video anyway...
Here in Venezuela the cable is fucking imposible to buy ._.
too much work
I live on Venezuela.. 100 Bolivares (the money on Venezuela) are 1 Dollar ..
1 Dollar = 100 bolivares OMG.
I keep hearing people complain about going through cables, and I'm sure for some it's true based on usage, and maybe bad cables. With all the three iPhone's i've owned, I've never had to replace the cable, and i don't remember my other family members who own iOS devices ever complaining about this as well. I have a lightning to 30 pin adapter, as an alternative though, so i can always dock the phone too.
great information.....just what I needed....thanks
I don't have this fucking stuff

Buy a cheap cable. The video is telling you the best way to fix it, not the easiest way. As much as it might not be helpful to you, a lot of people (eg those just getting into electronics) may find this useful. me to
I broke 2 of my chargers so my mom lent me hers and said she'll beat the shit out of me if I break it. I broke it. My mom asked me for the charger to charge her phone and she locked the door. Now I'm here. I am so dead.
Probably because you have no idea to handle a cable, even if it does suck to begin with.
Mine is really broken i saw a broken this like a red cable is broken and i tried to connect those ipad charged but im tired of holding it i tried to connect with tape and now its broken😭
My phone is 13% I don’t have time for that cause my charger is broken and I need help
This idea works but my iPad charger doesn't work and I don't have the utensils u have used
Lol I only watch his videos because I love his voice
I liked this video, although I'm lazy and will probably just get a new cable
@Torree Howard
Same thing I was thinking. That would convince me that it worked.
Great video I'll try it .thanks.
Thank you for supporting :)

My charging port won't stay on the chip. What do I do?
Reading all these comments as an electrical engineering student made me giggle.
Good job man. You are efficient. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Abdul. Nice video.
can a soldering gun can replace a glue gun ?
Anyone else surprised he didnt open the cable with a Box Cutter?
I like the video, except for one thing. The problem I have with these cables is that the connector detaches from the board.
who else searched how to make a bomb and this showed up?
Nice bomb tutorial
I'll try to do this, hope to make it fix.
soldering is easy. but the point of the matter is , why is the black cable disconnected? wtf is up with these apple chargers?
buy a FLEX-FIX for $3.99, slides over the lighting end and prevents them from breaking, well worth it
