I've been following you for a few years now (on my personal channel) and it's been so awesome to watch you throughout this time. I remember watching your kindy videos and when you first started in 4th grade. I think you are such a supportive teacher and the kids are seriously so lucky to have you. I'll have to try the "book tasting" sometime, it looks like a fun time.
This really helps me get ideas. My schedule is very choppy because many students get pulled out for interventions during certain times of the day and I have had a hard time implementing word work consistently into our day. I want to think about you mentioned and figure out a way i can implement this. Thanks!
I like how you do word study in your classroom! 😀. I will definitely need to build time into my ELA block for small groups. I will try to start WTW for the next quarter because our first quarter is almost done. Thank you for your continuous inspiration. I am in my first year of teaching third grade and I will get through this year with as much positivity as possible! 😀
Hello! Love your videos as always. I’m just starting WTW and I am so overwhelmed! I have kids in every book, red to blue. This was really helpful, I won’t be able to share students with anyone but I like the idea of teaching groups on specific cycle days.
Hi Bridget! I also teach middle school which is super new for me (before this I taught seniors) I really love the scrabble worksheet from your word study do you have that for sale anywhere? Or could you tell me where to find it? I think my kids would love it and it would be great practice for them!
We make our own videos for the students. I have shown some clips in past videos, unfortunately I’m not sure which ones. They cover the notes, expectations and sorting process.
Love your book tasting activity. Could you provide a link as to where to get them resources. Would love to do that to begin focusing on D.E.A.R/ book report projects.
Hello Bridget I enjoy your videos so very much and look forward to watching them each week, and im so impressed im one of the early ones to see it, so i thought id say hi from Australia. Keep up the great work! I too do WTW and enjoyed watching this vlog.. Thankyou..
Hello Bridget! I'm Jeffrey from Philippines teaching English Language Arts. I really enjoy your videos! And I find your videos beneficial for new teachers and even the old ones. :-) Keep it up!!
Hi! I was just thinking about words their way! Thanks for the video! Just a couple questions... how much time do you spend in your ELA block? Do you take grades on the practice sheets? Do you implement this slowly or take it up all at once? What word list do you use? Lots of questions from me lol!
Hi Bridget - I love your vids. Any suggestions for a middle school teacher on how to address word study with a child diagnosed with dysgraphia/dyslexia? In the student’s writing, it is observed that sometimes letters are reversed or omitted. However, when the student reads back what they wrote, it is read back accurately. Sounding out does not always work because the student is unable to decipher sounds well. Any suggestions, strategies, thoughts...? Thanks. Recent Examples: Writes "rember" instead of "remember" Writes “Chirstmas”, instead of “Christmas” Writes “celcebrate”, instead of “celebrate” And in Spanish, writes "senior", then the next line writes "senor" (should be señor). And writes "graicas" instead of “gracias”.
How is grad school going? Do you have any tips on how to balance beginning of school year as a mom, a teacher AND a grad student? My goal is to begin grad school during the summer so I won't have much on my plate. But I worry about balancing family, home, grad school work and teaching. I love for you to produce a video on grad school hacks for working teachers.
Greetings from 3rd grade in CA! Bridget, you're a beautiful woman, teacher, mom, wife, being, spirit. I can't seem to find the link to the TPT WTW notebook pages you mentioned from another teacher. Wishing you a lovely time with your visiting family and a good week ahead!
Did you use words their way when you taught kindergarten? I’m looking for a better way to teach phonics and sight words to my students and was interested in this. Even if you didn’t use it for kindergarten would you recommend or is it better for older grades?
I had my own system that I used in Kindergarten. Unfortunately, I don’t know if I can recommend WTW for Kindergarten. I would have to see what adaptations I would need to make before implementation. Sorry that I can’t give you a thumbs up or thumbs down on this one.
So far, so good! Ian (and I) can be picky at times. So this is our plan so far - Each week we order one meal that we know that we will all enjoy. For the second meal we try to choose something new or at least a little different. This was difficult before HomeChef because we kept buying groceries for the same meals and rarely risked attempting anything new. Trent was picky growing up, but will now eat pretty much anything. He likes to present it to the boys as a challenge, they will usually eat a good portion of the meal that way. If it is something that we don’t think we would have eaten as a kid, we tell them that they still have to try it, but that (Ian) can make a PBJ or soup for himself once he has tried a few bites. Trent has been glad to eat the rest 😂
Bridget- If you copy the sorts 139% from the book, it takes the whole page without the margins. Have you seen the new version?
You...are the BEST! 🤩
I’m rewatching this video from times past. Really miss this type of video!!
i have severe anxiety and these kinds of videos keep my mind off of things. thank you
That’s good to have something that takes your mind away from other things that stress you out. I watch videos to relax, too.
Me too
I can relate. 👍🏼

I cannot wait for you to do a video mainly about word study.

Hi Bridget- could you explain your paper organization (future copies, graded papers, student papers that go home)?
Teaching ASL in the classroom has been revolutionary for ELL students.
Could you share some teacher’s reference books that you used for kindergarten? Literacy and math books. Thanks
OMG the rail on the whiteboard with the rings. What is it? Where did you get it? How did you attached it? I love it!!!

Hey Bridget! I think you should definitely keep the traffic lights. It may not function the way you wanted it to, but it's still very cool

how many SLOs do you submit in a year? We are required to submit 2 a year even in a non evaluation year?

Do your boys like HomeChef? I have a picky eater.

PBJ is always our Plan B too. Thanks for the insight, and good luck with the new partnership. Have a great week!!
