@@swiggler7445 I've only seen older people drive this, I'm 35, to list a few things for me imho the interior is real quiet even with an aftermarket exhaust, there are some blind spots especially the back left of the driver, the multimedia sucks, and it also sucks getting in and out of it, but it is a coupe, can just buy the convertible would solve that. O and the front brake pads dust heavily, just have to change those out and should be good. Other then that the car is amazing and fun to drive. Forgot to add I have the V8 one.

Cupholders. Lack thereof. Just ONE for a touring car. Trunk space sucks and "back seats" if you can call them that really suck.
      Interior real estate just sucks.
Wife and I looked at it and our 2010 Lexus IS350 convertible has more room, has a shorter wheel base than this LC.
Just about the same trunk space with the top down! So what incentive did we have to buy the LC? None. Especially the cup holder issue. Not acceptable in a $100k car. To be fair so does her IS 350 BUT at least one can fit real adults in the back seat and the trunk is enormous for a vert with the top up.

    • @SlowWhip
      @SlowWhip 5 років тому +3

Rxonmymind Why do people complain about trunk space? It's a 2 coupe so what do you expect? It's a weekend car not an SUV. It's not a family car, that's why SUV and Trucks exist.

      It's about value to cost.
When my wife's Lexus IS 350 convertible at better real estate lending LC with the top down and you can fit for adults in the back something doesn't pencil out.
I consider my wife's convertible a weekend car and a cruiser also.
With the top up I can fit as much luggage in the back of my wife's convertible as I can my Lexus RX 350. Not stacked obviously but enough luggage for three people. That car is smaller than the LC.

LC 500-The rich guys grand coupe that sometimes takes his mistress out in the middle of the week.
The LX570 is for when he travels with his family the rest of the week.
Land Cruiser is when he needs to get outdoors.

The beeping driver's seat must be something region-specific. I have checked out a European LC500h and both seats move forward in the same way as the passenger seat in your tester, and without beeping. Also. The seats detect your legs and move slightly forward to prevent crushing anything in the rear seats.

The driver's seat on my LC goes forward automatically. You have to reset the seat by manually sliding the seat all the way forward, then all the way back. The beeping on the seat will go away also.
As for the constant beeping in reverse; you can have that changed to only one beep at the dealership.

1:00 Actually, LC stands for Lexus Challenge, not luxury coupe as most ppl seem to think. This is when Akido Toyoda challenged the lexus team to build a car that's not boring ;) So the code name was LC.
8:02 No you don't need to force it to stop. Just need to let the seat touch your knees and/or feet, then it will gently go forward a couple of inches :D As for rear seat headroom, anyone under 5 feet 6 inches tall fits fine.

Most of what makes the LC 500 what it is can't really be removed without ruining it. It's not the kind of car you can "tone down". Most Lexus vehicles are toned up Toyotas with better parts, insulation and luxury materials. With the LC, sure you have plenty of soft-touch materials, but pretty much everything else is performance-focused and scratch-made. That's where 85% of the price is coming from.
Not to mention, the Supra needs to be a sports car. This is a GT car. Two different classes of vehicle. You really can't turn one into the other without massively reworking it, which, in itself, would drive prices up and make the Supra even more prohibitively expensive; something Toyota doesn't want.
I agree. The Supra should not be built with BMW parts. I don't like that Toyota are compromising their legendary reliability by using what is essentially a rebadged BMW for a name as iconic as the Supra, but at the end of the day, I won't be driving it, and it's no skin off my nose if they disappoint the buyers and Toyota's executives. Hopefully their next attempt is better.

@@RPGTKingpin It seems that next will be the Mazda`s straight-6. Toyota has some joint venture with them to develop the I6. That might be a very interesting engine. I haven`t found any official info regarding what Toyota is planning to do with the engine, but it is somehow safe to assume it will be used in next-gen Supra.

That shifter is straight from the 2nd gen Prius. Exactly the same pattern. And the beeping is some Japanese law. Physically the shifter does not move to park. So its not possible to determine that you are in reverse. Apart from the camera and the shifter light on the screen. But the 2nd gen and all other Priuses have it. My friends manual Celica had it and some other Japanese cars have it.
