Random thought but I personally prefer that Nexomon are more limited to their type in Extinction. It can give the opportunity to some Nexomon to shine because they have access to other types. I am not for being too strict with that but I like when it's a lot more limited. Temtem finds a good balance with that I feel where you know easily which Temtem has access to what types whereas in Pokémon almost anything can randomly use really odd types like a rat using Thunder for some reason.
I love this game. The 2d art and sprites are fantastic. I'm having the opposite of level creep in my playthrough though. By the time I got to the beach town my party were all already around level 50 while my opponents were in their 30's. I'm one shotting everything consistently including the bosses. When I went up against the wind chick in the tree I beat her in 4 moves and she has 1000 hp I think.
Been playing the game for a few hours and am loving it so far. So far the only complaints I have is (in order of severity) lack of multiple save files and lack of back sprites. That said, the game is really fun and worth the 8 dollars I spent (got on PS4 with a PS+ deal.)
I picked up Nexomon 1 for Switch on a whim because I was bored and wanted to try out another monster collecting game. I am a huge fan of Pokemon and I remember when I also used to play Spectrobes and its sequel Beyond the Portals as a kid and loved the different but also still really fun experience from Pokemon. Basically I guess I kinda wanted to see if I could try to feel that again by trying another monster collecting game I never tried before. And so far, I'm almost at the end I imagine rn, as I just got to the snowy tundra area, but I am having an absolute blast. I also don't mind grinding and I usually do it when I know I'm coming up to a big fight, but I honestly find myself overlevelled for most of this game lmao. The grinding is so fast in comparison to something like Pokemon, like just as an example say all the Pokemon in the area I'm in give about 1,000 experience each and to level up I need to get 16,539 exp. That's a good amount of KO'd mons I need to level up. But Nexomon's exp curve is so forgiving lol, for one level up I need about 1,000 exp and every mon I KO is about 500 so that's literally like 2 mons KO'd and I level up. Next level is like 1,050 exp needed, like what I mean mostly is that the exp curve is just so good feeling making grinding actually way less a hassle here than most monster collecting or general RPGs that I've played before. Honestly really amazed me when I picked the game up and by the first major Elite boss, I had a party consisting of Draclone, Voltosfere, Raamu, Prismazor, Arctivore, and Feliscient. And most of my grinding just happened naturally while I was looking for some hard to find Nexomon to fill up my Database. It's insane lmao. Still, loved the game so far, looking forward to this post game I keep hearing about and I'm definitely a fan now.
Shame most people missed out on Spectrobes third and final game on the Wii as they finally perfected the combat by letting the human actually do damage (lol 1hp per hit in the original) to monsters while also commanding your monster buddies thru specific commands like the second game at the same time; even had 2 player. The only real downside was almost every boss fight was just generic monsters vs the weird alien organization from beyond the portal.
Currently playing Nexomon 1 on my PS5 via my copy of the Nexomon + Nexomon Extinction Collection and I love it, sure you can tell it's a Pokémon-type game but it's got enough to stand on it's own. I'm so glad I'm finally playing it.
Great review of Nexomon 1 Ed, now only thing that is left to release this year related to Nexomon is Nexomon: Extinction content update and mobile port.
If it had Cosmics like extinction has i would deffo buy this! Such a shame it doesnt have them, it really puts me off buying it as im a Shiny/Cosmic hunter mainly.
After platinum both games, i actually like the end game more, searching and defeating the warden ghost to unlock wardens, what for me was more fun then just the dragons, Like for omnicron kids in extinction i would love they did something like with wardens in 1 instead of revive and golden nexotrap🤣 Oh i just love them both, the only thing really meh with 1 is at end people not evolve, like when i already beated game (and even captured omnicron) npc still warn me for nexolord, i would love in nexomon 3, that ecery npc evolves compared to your progress.
In my opinion, Nexomon One is a good time killer and can get you really glued to it if you don't have anything else to play, and also has a good post-game
Bought them both today on Series X playing the games in order..it's my first monster catching game outside of Pokémon which I've been playing since (Yellow). I feel kinda dirty lol playing a game other than Pokémon. But I have zero interest in the Diamond and Pearl remakes Nexomon is a new games to hold me over until Legends of Arceus
So i havent played Pokemon since Yellow but i want to get into those games again. Is this a good gameseries for that? Doest it have tutorials that are good for people thatre new to this genre?
My thing is, I have had this game on mobile for a long time. I don't really play mobile, that's why I have 2 Switches.. I beat Extinction and caught them all. And I already have quite a backlog of games. Decisions, Decisions....
I love Nexomon Extinction and planning on getting the first one. A shame not all of the Nexomon from the 1st game returned to Extinction because some of the designs I see in this video are AWESOME!
Is that why conditions are so bad in nexomon extinction? Bc it was so good in 1? It always feels like just using the highest potency attack is always better than trying to apply a condition with 30% chance
@@Vitali_Osandor yea I'm gonna i just realized that theres only one save file in the game so I'm making sure to pump out guides for everything else before restarting 😅
Can Nexomon 1' save data be transferred to Nexomon Extinction? What about from Nexomon to Extinction to the third Nexomon game coming out? Are there at least some unlockables if you have a save file of an earlier Nexomon game and then going into a newer one or are all the games completely independent from one another?
The stories are kinda connected, but independent enough to be standalone. There aren't any bonuses for transferring save files, and we barely know anything at all about N3.
Question for you Ed. How's the overall difficulty? One of the main reasons I gave up on Pokemon is that the difficulty of the story is laughable, presenting very little challenge.
It's more difficult than Pokemon but there's one battle mechanic I honestly HATE about it: Whenever you beat an opponent's Nexomon, the next one they sent out gets a free shot at you. This REALLY sucks if they sent out a Nexomon with a type advantage against the one you currently have out and are at half health.
Just to clarify when ya say ported from mobile there is no difference then at all? I just ask as I think the mobile I saw is free so that kinda has me holding back from buying on my PS5
Are you able to transfer your Nexomon mobile save date to the console version? I just started playing the original Nexomon on mobile and I saw it was moving to console after putting 8 hours into the mobile version. Please lmk if I can transfer my save data or not.
Well I already had nexomon extinction on my switch and as soon as I knew the prequel was coming to the switch I didn't touch extinction for the time being. I wasn't so far in the story yet and now I can play the prequel before playing extinction again :D Well I'm off now and see if the prequel is already accessible on the switch :D (Date just turned to September 17th).
I think Nexomon 2 is better then Pokemon (gen1-4 with the remakes of the gen 1-4) But i have Nexomon 1 & 2 on Switch and Nexomon 1 have lags if i go on my Nexopad and want see the Team go out and then want see the Profil and if i want afther this quit the menü so i wait 2-3 sec (not evrytime) Sry for my bad english
As someone who recently started playing Nexomon. I do enjoy the collecting aspect. Besides the battle issues that were mentioned I also dislike how if I know out another trainers nexomon, their next one always gets a free move but if mine gets knocked out. I don’t get that luxury. Seems unfair. Also wish they had a map with locations of nexomons like how Pokémon does it so you can easily find where to hunt for that missing monster.
This is a mobile game released in 2016 I think and is the first nexomon game in the series!! It is now available on console thanks to fans!! Extinction is based 1000 years in the future
I hate how they call it a prequel when a prequel means something that came out later that goes before, even though Nexomon is just the first game in the series.
So we cannot nickname our monsters in this game?? Just found out this... Quite the major let-down. Hope they change it in a future update so that we can rename them.
This game was very bad, i find it no interest, 310 nexomon but they are all the same ( statistics), evolution is only cosmetic, batlle are unbalanced, the make the gamelife higher in artificial way who was not interesting, maybe i will test the second game but for now i am disapointed.

No of course not, why would I want a cheap knock off of Pokémon whatever the price lol? We have the amazing Legends Arceus imminent and looming. We fans are well treated this time round. We are feasting at the top table in January! =)
This game looks super good. Love the monster designs. It's been sitting in my Steam library for a while, dunno why I haven't dived into it yet
As a SMT and Pokemon fanatic, I cannot resist any Mon taming game!

I'm the only only in my house that plays FF XIII-2.
