    Alice Cooper - The 'King of Shock Rock' and a true pioneer of rock and roll. But get this - he's also a devout Christian (he's a substitute Sunday school teacher, reformed alcoholic and an avid golfer (he's written a book on golf. To truly appreciate his genius, think about what music was like, when he hit the scene in the late '60s. He invented rock n' roll theatre and in the '70s, Alice's career exploded. He became the poster boy for evil and every parent's worst nightmare. But his fans have always loved him. Alice has sold more than 50 million albums, he has a radio show 5 nights a week, he turned 60 this year and he's touring again - for his 25th studio album. That's right, his 25th. It's called 'Along Came A Spider' and it's about a serial killer. Oh, how very Alice.

      Funnypandalonies I think I can prove to you from the words of Jesus that christians are not "wing ", left or right. He lived under a very brutal invader, never said "arm yourselves and fight the Romans"!!!!! He never talked politics.

    • @bcatypical
      @bcatypical 6 років тому +1

      So???? He wasn't HERE to talk politics with the exception of "pray for your leaders because God PUT them there". If you are a Christian, you just ARE "right wing" in modern political 'speak'. It's a classification. Nobody is telling anybody else to "arm yourselves and fight" anybody except we SHOULD arm ourselves with our Christian protection and PRAY. THAT is our fight.

    Sorry but the ''hippy dippy stuff'' wasn't crap, and having a Greek background you would think hed know a thing or two about hippies, because the first hippies were Greek, The Eleusinians. Its not crap its about finding out who you are and being free, thats not crap, there were and still are a lot of intelligent productive hippies.

    • @drizzt102
      @drizzt102 9 років тому

      irishelk What he means is the music it spawned was crap to people like us. We wanted a release for our violence, for our darkness. We wanted to feed the evil without being evil. We didn't want to be good when we were cutting loose. When we were cutting loose we wanted to cut the fuck loose. It was too friendly, too lovey dubby, too kind. Metal heads are who we are, not because we hate. But because we dont fear the dark part of what we are. In a way, we are entertained by it. You need to remember George is a rock and roll and metal fan too. He's the same way. We just like the opportunity to let the monster out. That's all he means, and yes he said it crudely, but that's all he meant. Alice was one of the first, along with Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and the like, who gave us that. Who gave us a place to go, encouraging us, telling us that its okay to let the monster out sometimes.

    • @irishelk3
      @irishelk3 9 років тому

      drizzt102 Yeah i see what you mean, i like alice cooper and i used to be obsessed with Metallica, but then i would listen to Korn, Papa roach, Slipknot and Marilyn manson and that was when i was about 12, maybe 13? i still listen to the old Metallica stuff sometimes, but im 24 now and i just think the world is a beautiful place, you can focus on all the dark stuff all you like, but metal never changed society, the hippies may have sounded light, but they packed a punch, and thats nothing sepultura ever did.

    • @drizzt102
      @drizzt102 9 років тому +1

      irishelk I'd argue against that. Metal did change society. They broke the mold. It freed a lot of the misfits, a lot of the broken and battered, the people who were lost, whom thought they had no one. It gave us a place to go, people like us. There is a documentary, called Heavy, the Story of Metal. Comes in four parts, and explains it rather well. Both kinds of music changed society, and were more then just entertainment to a massive audience. It was born of violence, metal's birthplace was post world war two England, the machine that had been and still was bombed and blasted into oblivion. It was a very different world then where the Hippy culture was prevalent. There were still, even in the late sixties and early seventies, old german bombs and munitions being found, toppled unrepaired buildings. There were still parts of the city smouldering (Birmingham specifically) even 20-30 years later. Black Sabbath came from that, Judas Priest came from that.
      Metal music is the opposite of the 'hippy' stuff. Its for those of us whom have been stuck in the dark side of the world. Whom have been beaten down by the world, left feeling like there is no where to turn, no where we can go. Its rebellion without true outer cause, because we need to rebel. It reminds us that the bad things can only hurt you if you let them. It appeals to the truly broken misfits. As a former addict, I grew up seeing the worst humanity had to offer. I never felt I could turn to family, I had no where I could turn. Along with a fellow metal head, this music helped me. It helped me cope with the dark stuff I had grown up seeing. It helped me deal with the world I had, through my own mistakes, been absorbed by, and it helped me get out. Metal did change society. It is a statement by the misfits that everyone else wants to bury. We won't go quietly, we won't disappear, and we'll prove you wrong. Everyone counts us out, the world over wants to ignore the broken, the misfits, the lost and hurting. This music reminds us we don't have to accept that. That we don't have to sit by quietly and be ignored. We don't have to crash and burn. We can succeed, we can mean something, because we are more stubborn then those whom think we won't.
      Its hard to explain and articulate properly, but I would suggest going to watch the documentary I mentioned, it really explains it well.

    Also the stories aren't meant to be taken literally (some believe they are) they are full of symbols and metaphors. Anyways I think this should end now before this video gets deleted for being full of "spam" comments. So let's end it now. The final decision is that Alice is a good man, father, and overall person. If you want to preach about you're hatred toward a set of beliefs do it somewhere were people agree with you and where you know you're not gonna start fights.

    The reason I said the thing about him hiding behind a comp is cus he was saying he felt so proud of himself for "winning" (not really) in a convo over the comp which I think is pathetic. If you read the argument you'd might side with me cus my whole point is that Alice is a good person (he disagrees) and that you should let people just believe in what they believe in. I'm not a huge religious nut but I hate to see others bash something just cus they don't believe it's true.

    First of all Black Juju is a gothic poem written by Dennis Dunaway not at all influenced by Alice. There are no zombies in Christianity, read my message and you will learn how far fetched your beliefs are. Wearing womens' clothing is not anti Christian don't make up shit, people of all religions find that weird. What are you talking about? You really don't know anything about the Alice Cooper band or religion so just give up.

    Also Alice filled the entire Foxwoods theater when I saw him. All his fans in the past still listen to his music and know he's a nice guy, you are the only one that doesn't! You're alone on that one. When did Alice sneer at butchered children, women, men w/e? Also by a few do you mean millions? There are more Alice fans than Fleetwood Mac, sorry but that's true. Also Alice was more influential.

    That is true but Alice doesn't talk about the band cus nobody asks him. He is still friends with the original guys but they don't talk too often. Only meet up at anniversaries (the band's 40th anniversary party) and also in interviews. Alice is pretty close with all except Mike. Mike is still into drugs apparently...really sad still love the guy's music though even his solo stuff.

    Too bad George had to put his 2 cents worth in about politics. If he thinks Bush was bad what would he think of his savior Obama??

    • @Groovegandalf
      @Groovegandalf 10 років тому

      The fact that Bush was the most ludicrous president in history has nothing to do with what his predecessors or followers are/were. Bush remains the high water mark for ineptitude.

      And Obama blew past that high water mark.

      Chaitanya Reddy I'm saying Obama is worse, off of a non-existent Foreign Policy and no idea on how to manage a checkbook let alone a whole Country. Bush's Father wasn't the Previous President he was a previous President. When G.W. took over from slick Willy did he complain about the mess he inherited? That is all this shit for brains has done. Now that he has been in office for 6 years he has no one to blame. Obama worked his ass off to get to the White House? He got there because of the promise of change which I haven't seen at least not for the better. The last time I talked to an Obama supporter they asked if I wanted a large fry with my meal, so if your asking I'll take one please.

    Does he preach to people? No. Does he force his beliefs on people? No. Does it come into his stage show? No, with the exception of "The Last Temptation", "Brutal Planet", and "Dragon Town". It's not like he's one of those obnoxious in-your-face Christians. Let the guy believe whatever he wants. He's cool, down to earth, and god dammit he rocks.

    So you're saying that since he is doing what half of the entire world is doing by no constantly helping starving children that he's evil? (except he donated 3 MILLION dollars for a center to help kids). What have you done to help starving children? Do you fly to Africa and help the children dieing of starvation? Alice and I at least do something instead of just talk about it.

    What are you talking about? You must have this strange hatred for Alice, he is truly a nice guy, even before he was a Christian (which was only in the 90s that he truly turned around). He's always had religious upbringings and leads his life that way. Leave the guy alone. You've posted on this video like 10x RELAX!

    If you want to attack a rock star who just does it for fame and money go after KISS. It's not like Alice did anything different from any of other legend...so why are you angry with him? Alice is a very giving rocker and that's rare to find, someone who cares more about others than themselves. He's a great guy and a great father (not like other celebrities who spoil their kids).
