    Just so everyone knows. I suggest that you spend the money to get better machines. These types of machines will always break in the middle of a tattoo. You never want to worry about your equipment during a tattoo. You want to focus on the artwork and the client. When you get frustrated with your equipment its difficult to tattoo. Its better if you can stay calm and enjoy yourself. I've had too many equipment failures during tattoo sessions. I always keep back up equipment but you shouldn't have to rely on that every day. Spend a little money to get good equipment. I do these videos as learning aids. I like messing with cheap equipment because it breaks. It gives me a chance to learn how to trouble shoot. It helps me learn what to look for in good machines. If you have cheap equipment I want to help you know how to keep it running. When you get a chance you should try to get equipment that won't fail you. You don't have to buy the most expensive machines. Just buy the ones that are built to last.

      No one could have put this into a better perspective! I began with "cheap" machines, which eventually had minor issues that manifested into total breakdown. I purchased various "high quality" parts on the WEB, thinking that a rebuild would be simple and worth the effort and cash. I found myself sorely mistaken! The parts never would fit together, so I changed my tune, which brings this episode case in point for myself as well. I saved my money for a while, then opted for a mid-grade coil shader and liner. I was happier than a pig in poopoo man! So listen to this gentleman, he knows what's up for sure! Thank you sir!

    Really good that you have mention a rear coil core gap and armature bar cause I have quite a bug one like more then one minimeter, I press a foot pedal and it won't start sometimes I have to press armature bar and it starts up I will try to reduce the gap by putting some shim washers I don't know how to spell shimwasher sorry. Thx for a vid you are great man.

      It is a pain dealing with a machine that hasn't been tuned correctly. Tattooing is a so much easier when machines run the way they are supposed to.

      They're still busted machines. The frame isn't bad but the coils, capacitor, springs are garbage and need replaced.

    i know u know your stuff, and i was just wondering, if you could do a quick video showing how to bend the springs and how much are how little to the specific machine, thank u and please i think i actually have mine tuned right but theres not one video on here that shows this process in detail, like doing the bending process a couple times up close to see where its setting over the coils.

    how do i fix my contact screw, passing the front spring? it’s not hitting it, but when i screw in the contact screw, it passes the spring. and i can’t get it to line up with it to run it.

    • @justinspier3838
      @justinspier3838 5 місяців тому

      looking straight down at the machine if you loosen the screw furthest from the contact screw you can adjust the amateur assembly on the horizontal axis rotating the front binding post where the contract screw is attached might help if the contact point you want is somewhere on the vertical axis

    can you or anyone please give me advice on my tattoo kit i bought there are sparks forming between the contact screw and front spring how can i fix this

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  5 років тому +1

      Some sparking is normal when it comes to the cheaper machines. Better springs and capacitor would get rid of the problem.

      @@TattooUniversity okay thank you because I'm so concerned about a fire starting or like something going seriously wrong this is all new to me and I'm very passionate about it I do not know everything but I put in the little bit of time that I can every so often being a new mom and everything is difficult to balance the two but I make it work when I can thanks for taking the time out your day to reply because I was so upset and disappointed I spent like well over $300+ on the tattoo kit and extra stuff just wanted to make sure I wasn't being ripped off

      It's not something that would go away without working on your machines. Watch one of his other videos about capacitors and how to change them. Very beneficial!

  • @rickcox1495

    Ive got an older danny fowler hand signed aluminum frame. Ive never gotten to even tune it because for some reason when u hit the switch to run it armature bar sticks down on front coil. Cant figure if coils are bad or what. Ive never had this happen and ive had ALOT of machines

      You have a wire touching somewhere. See if a coil wire is touching your yoke or if it is near a binding post.

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  Рік тому

      I picked up the silicone from reading some older tattoo information. It isn't used as much any more. I swear by it though. It has helped me fix a lot of machines and keep them working. Probably use it more on the cheap machines with the bare wire sticking out of the bottom of the coil.

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  7 років тому

      You are correct. This is to make the machine quiet. You don't get the armature bar smacking the front core. This also prevents sticking. If the arm bar touches both cores it will stick for a second before it lets go.

    Question,my machine runs extremely softly,like there is no power coming through,no sparking either

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  4 роки тому

      No sparking is good. No hit is usually not enough upward tension on your rear spring

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  4 роки тому

      Sometimes it's the rear coil being to high and arm bar hits rear core. You want arm bar to hit front core and not touch rear core

      Hey I heard tattoome machines are the lick . They r made in Poland backed by alot of respected tattooists and have Operations in Australia. Really did the research with the geometry and these are one of a kind handbuilts. I know tattoome sounds cheap like a kit but it's Poland. Make pain tattoo machines are hand-built from Portugal and 150to 190 and very nice and run good I just got a super nice CNc J frame I mean both these companys will sell to a non shop and for a budget those r the way to go.. Also Paco Rollins, Chris gove are builders I also own machines from nice on the less costly side. My favorite machine karl hedgepath SC Sylvia collaboration mini Jenny super well built Karl hedgepath of jinxproof! also forward machines are cheap as is, look nice don't know how they run and have sales regularly

    Hey i have a problem with my machine that i can't find solution online.
    i have a rottary machine .While im using it ,everytime i stop the needle keeps staying in different height.Its very hard to tattoo when i can't settle my needle tip to begin at the same starting point. sometimes they stop fully out the grip sometimes they remain in.Its a new machine ,i just lubricated for the first time but the problem remains

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  6 років тому

      Some of the rotary machines have a spring that will return the needle to the correct position. If this spring isn't working that could be your issue. Maybe this machine isn't set up with something like that. What is happening is the cam is just not returning to the up position. There could also be an issue with too much tension on the needle. I would have to see it to know. Send a video to jauntyartist@hotmail.com

    • @2ndrunraidshadowlegends631
      @2ndrunraidshadowlegends631 6 років тому +1

      A lot of rotary ( clone machines) don't have a returning spring. Best thing to do is pull the machine away from the skin still running. Or use a cartridge type grip with spring loaded cartridges

      Just be careful when painting the armature bars. I have a machine that came with a painted armature bar and I had to take the paint off. I also had to sand off the top of the cores because there was paint on there also. This got in the way of the machine functioning properly.
