    I simply bought another Xumo remote from the company, it does everything my primary remote does except it will not also control my sound bar. I spoke with someone at Xumo support and was informed that I could not set up 2 remotes to control my sound bar. It makes no sense to me but I know I played with the second remote for about 3 days before I called them. So there may be something to that. A second remote is $30 so I have the new remote and the controller for my sound bar by my chair and the original remote that controls both by my wife's chair.

    Will the original Xumo remote still work? and how about the Netflix and Hulu buttons, can they also be programmed? Thanks

      Yes both the new remote and original Xumo remote will work in parallel. I just tried programming the Netflix Disney etc buttons, they do not reprogram via infrared training/learning mode from my attempts.
      If I remember correctly, they can be programmed in the app for the non-Xumo devices which are configured via the app (for me, that was my Visio Tv and Apple TV).

    After programming my remote (the remote claims to have learned each key and works with other devices), my XUMO box only responds to volume, power, and mute. Is it possible that the XUMO box firmware has to be a particular build for all IR signals to work? My XUMO Box firmware build is: QS025.013.01P. The hardware model is: SCXI11BEI. The XUMO remote that came with it is firmware: 6001.2.4

      @puttothetest  Місяць тому

      For comparison, my XUMO box is showing Entertainment OS of 1.2, Build Version of QS025.013.01P, Hardware Model of SCXI11BEI, Remote Control Version of 6001.2.4, and UI Version of 20.279.025.05. The only thing I can think of is to make sure your XUMO box is unplugged while you are training the new remote (to ensure it transitions from Radio signals to IR signals)

    Hey I’m having a lot of trouble with this. Could I get your help? I have GE universal remotes and I cannot figure out how to do that learn thing you did/show in the video. Help greatly appreciated!!

      From what I was able to find, the GE universal remote has to be a teachable/learning/trainable remote, meaning, in addition to being a universal remote, it has to have the added ability to mimic another remote by essentially recording and playing back the Infrared signals of the origin remote you want the GE remote to mimic.
      Without the model number of the specific GE remote, the one manual for GE remotes I found online www.manualslib.com/manual/913928/Ge-Universal-Remote.html was saying it can only be programmed for codes it knows about when it left the factory. Doesn’t mean that your specific model is limited to that but I’m using that as a baseline.
      The term universal remote is the bigger umbrella and under that, there’s a subset of remotes that are trainable to record/playback remote commands from another remote on a per-button basis.
      I’m not sure that clarifies it, hopefully that is of some help.

      @@puttothetest that actually helps a lot and explains what I was finding and what I was not. I’ll be looking into a teachable remote because of your vid here, but also you are like THE only resource I was able to find online that shows how to control the stupid xumo with a universal remote. Thank you so much for publishing your findings to help others, like me!

    does the universal remote have to be a learning remote or will any universal remote work?

    • @puttothetest
      @puttothetest  24 дні тому

      As I understand it, universal remotes have codes for each thing they can control so you would be limited by the universal remote’s preprogrammed codes, hoping Xumo was in there. Learning universal remotes however, basically record and playback any IR signal they are trained to mimic from an existing IR remote.

    So youre still not able to change channel up and down without having to press multi buttons right?

    can you program the xumo mic into the new remote

    • @puttothetest
      @puttothetest  Місяць тому +1

      No at the price point I purchased the universal remote, it only mimics IR functions which I believe mic is radio-based. I have to learn more about the mic and how it works to get an idea of which remotes could mimic that.

      @@puttothetest Have the new remote now; do you have to set up the remote using their MyNevo app? which 2 buttons on the remote do you push to get it into learning mode? Thanks.

    • @puttothetest
      @puttothetest  Місяць тому +1

      @@jrg7376 awesome! for the different devices: I used the my Nevo app to setup the Apple TV and my old Visio tv. But for the Xumo box I followed what I did in this video. So first select the input you want to program, and then hold down both the X and Back buttons till it blinks, then enter the code 975. With the Xumo powered off, you can now learn from the Xumo remote. For a closeup of this, check out this other video starting at 3 minutes 30 seconds in the link here ua-cam.com/video/pzq3formu4Q/v-deo.htmlsi=Ow4cyu1kPJhiQ5s4

      Also I had to do some keys over because the first time I did them, the new remote recorded multiple clicks of the keypad being pressed. Had to be really light / quick on pressing the button on the Xumo remote while training this new remote.
