Fantastic!! She just flows right through the song. No talk singing. No pausing for a deep breath to hit a big note. Just wonderful. And sung in the original keys, unlike others. Bravo!
I had the wonderful privilege of seeing Patti LuPone in Sunset in the original London production a few times. Just after it was announced that ALW had announced that she wasn't going to Broadway with Sunset, she brought the house down with a stella performance. The atmosphere was electric! So wonderful to hear this beautiful song in the original keys - without the horrid butchering of musicality to accommodate Glenn Close and others (including Nicole Scherzinger in the 2024 production)
+Bryce Messer I think this is probably in some talk show to promote the show at the beginning of Sunset Boulevard's run in London. This would definitely have been before Broadway began its run as there was a change in this song to modulate two steps down at the end to accommodate Glenn Close.
Why do you say that? It sounds identical to the cast recording and it's not her usual live singing demeanor. When she sings live she is usually more expressive.
dohaperson1 Try syncing the audio from this video to the cast recording. If it sounds like one vocal as opposed to a double track, then she lip-synced. To be fair, most European shows asked the artist to lip-sync, as live music was difficult to mix on T.V.
No no no. For me Shirley Bassey puts so much more expression's into the words with highs and low keys . The person singing this song makes it boring . Shirley's way a head in style

Perfect musicality, perfect diction, perfect interpretation. Simply perfection in everything she does.😮

Linda Balgord also sang it in the original key. Just saying

+Nyok Sim Thong Patti NEVER sang the modulated version!!!
+Bryce Messer the modulation occurred for the Los Angeles cast before it transferred to Broadway.

But her lower jaw is...so much tension.
