    A ceasefire would be terrible because russia can then dig in, fortify and then have another go in a few years. Also, this rewards aggressive behavior which apparently the lessons from the 1930s have not been absorbed by western politicians.

      @@stuartwray6175 yep, Pootin was prepping to invade as well as use hybrid warfare. He is actually very sharp and even brilliant, and i dn't give compliments in that rgard easily , especialy to thugs. But he IS highly skilled at speaking or getting the right ppl to write his speeches, which experts have said appaer to be his own ideas, since he often speaks very naturally as thought they are his ideas or that he at least comprehends them. This regime is MORe dangerous than the 3rd Reich, imho. I studied formally at a very keen uni program in international politics (which includes several fields of course). Prepare for war now.

      trump the USA will betray Ukraine, trump has talked about removing all sanctions against Russia.... no one can trust trump, or Putin, in fact the Americans are not trustworthy as a nation either, no different than Russia.... I pray Ukriane will stay the course and push these orc's out of thier lands. trump wants to remove Ukriane from the news cycle as it takes away from himself. also trump is seeking a Nobel Peace Award and this is his goal, if Ukriane survives as a nation or not, he does not give a damn

      @@18_rabbit Stop praising the guy as a genius, the invasion was a complete miscalculated disaster. Everything the russians thought was going to happen was wrong. Putin's interviews are just him acting clueless about questions, pretending like he doesn't know the intent behind them, and using his answers to offload responsibility for whatever the issue is to the other parties involved like nothing has anything to do with him or russia.

    Just a correction, Biden didn't "lose" in Afghanistan. It was Trump that signed the deal with Taliban to withdraw all troops, advisors, trainers, security and other personnel within 14 months. Biden just had the ungrateful task of getting handed the cards Trump left after he got fired from his job. Trump also abruptly abandoned their Kurdish allies in Syria, and I think these things tells us all there is to say about a future with Trump. He never understood international politics. All he cares about and understand (somewhat) outside of the U.S. is who are their customers, and who are their competitors.
    He's a glorified used car salesman with near unlimited power, and he will do whatever he can to make himself and his friends richer, that is his ultimate goal.

    At 20:43 min mark, Mr Sweeney says, regarding foreign troops in Ukraine for logistics, training and support roles "...it becomes harder for the Russian to bomb Ukraine willy-nilly...", in the Cold War days this was called a "trip-wire force", most notable stationed in West Berlin (an island in the middle of Soviet East Germany - the GDR) and they essentially prevented the Soviets attacking and over-running West-Berlin for fear of killing French, or British or American troops and dragging those countries into a potential war (hence trip-wire). These "trip-wire" forces deterred the Soviets. They can do the same for us in Ukraine as Mr Sweeney (and Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges at the Chatham House event) pointed out.

    • @brassroots2024
      @brassroots2024 2 дні тому +3

      Agreed. But, moreover, the combined military personnel of the UK, France, Poland and a smattering of other supportive nations numbers well over half a million. We could surely offer twenty or thirty thousand non-combatant specialist troops to fulfil ancillary roles, as mentioned early in the video. This would enable the AFU to do the fighting, give a boost to all Ukrainians everywhere, flip the bird to the Kremlin and precipitate the end of the invasion.

The only thing I want to hear from all "leaders" is "Get out of Ukraine" - pressure must be put on the aggressor, not the defenders. I am so sick of the perpetrator-victim reversal. No negotiations with errorists! Once the oblasts are occupied, they are lost (torture, displacement, indoctrination, ...). We don't need "peacekeepers" but boots on the ground who help throw the invaders out. Does the Evil Empire have kompromat on all our "leaders"? If so: we will forgive everything, but we will not forgive NOT securing Ukraine's victory within internationally recognized borders!

    Fact. Last census done in Ukraine was 23 years ago. Some people estimate that Ukraine had roughly less than 30 million people pre 2022 war.

    No way I want a British nuclear guarantee be given, absent US/NATO support.
    I'm thinking, why did UK, France and US not fulfil their commitments to ensure Ukrainian territory under Budapest? We always raise it to point to Russia's breaking of their guarantee, but we broke our part too? And it wasn't even noticed, it was barely remarked upon.

    absolutely abso brilliant interview/discussion! Sweeney is so on target here, i'm blown away. Fantastic! Indeed, DJT will probably have some decent thinkers in his military and diplo realms, but some really bad ones as well, or severely mediocre such as Hegspeth who is vacuous to put it nicely. Core ppl with might behind them from the past will not be serving, such as Pompeo (whom i dislike anyway but he did have skills). As an american i'm pretty concerned about the bumpy ride ahead, but we shall see. I also presume that if the SHTF (hits the fan), some key thinkers will be consulted even if privately/secretly to inform the WH what to do. I also agree that if kompromat actually exists, it's of something other than normal/successful sexual relations. I am not quite sure it exists though, bcuz the Ru's know that even the appearance of its existence would be THE most brilliant play of all time visavis a group of players like DJT who really are not chess players seemingly, i.e have always seemed slow, to me (of course russians/ussr have always thought of americans as "idiots", ie idealist, naive, etc, and they were partly right to a significant extent in the past, and frankly now as well insofar as the uninformed/uneducated aspect of significant parts of the american political powerstructure.

    35:47 - Millions of Ukrainian refugees moving to Western countries with a shrinking population problem which could soon cripple their future economies isn’t necessarily looked on as a bad thing by some. Especially seeing as those already in Germany, Poland etc have boosted the economy by finding work & ‘fitting in’ shall I say. I fear there’s possibly more heartless calculating going on behind the scenes & there’s hidden reasons why UA hasn’t been given full support since day one. This war should’ve & could’ve been won by Ukraine years ago now and hasn’t for reasons
