I grew up in Zim in the 50s and 60s and tiger were and still are my favourite species to pursue . I must compliment you young man and your team for this world class , comprehensive presentation on tiger fishing . Probably the best video on this subject I have seen . Well done and all the best for the future . The bird sounds especially the Barbets and Francolin took me back to my childhood days fishing in the Matopas area of Bulawayo . Great video .
Now this must be your BEST VIDEO. Excellent information, well presented, lovely background sights and sounds. Well done Josh. I’m sure this will encourage an enthusiastic following.
I was amazed to find that Tiger Fish are also found in West Africa. They appeared in our storage dam in Northern Ghana - first noticed jumping for swallows drinking from the dam surface.
Thanks for this. I’m going to the lower Zambezi in 3 weeks and hopefully this advice will help. Thanks for sharing I have subscribed. Going to go and buy some Afri jig s and one of those bags tomorrow. 👍👍
Well done, very informative and great to learn some new ideas and reinforce the old one's we saw our Dad's, Uncle's and Grandfather's fish when we were younger Fisherman. I remember my Uncle from Tengwe using a float! It worked very well on the river in the dirty clean waters.
Great video sharing key points of the Tigerfishing, well put together. We will be on Jozini(SA) in 2 weeks. Will give some insight on our trip from learnings shared. Keep it up.👍
The nature in africa is stunning but I think it's way too dangerous to go there. I've never been there but aligators and hippos along with deadly diseases seem like a big no. What is the fishing there like? Is there a lot of tigerfish and if yeah did you catch a big one already. I hope a hippo didn't capsize your boat 😂
Thanks for boosting one of my favorite fishes ~ when I started fishing for tigerfish I was a teenager. Back in the day we used large Mepps spoons (with that lovely red scale pattern on one side) and a plastic coated wire trace, and still caught our fair share of fish. Nowadays I prefer using a fly rod and knot2kinky wire trace with attractor type flies such as a Clouser minnow in Mickey Finn colors, or a smaller fly in bream or minnow colors. Whatever the case, contrast is important in the pattern choice.. It usually outfishes bait and lure anglers. Tight lines to you and everyone who loves tigerfish and wants to preserve them and their natural habitat.
By the way, I find the use of live bait probably one of the cruelest things one can do to any animal. Fish are sentient and do in fact feel pain. Otherwise good.
GReat vid guys. Heading back to Okavango to fish for Tiger after 20 years and forgot all my tricks! Great informative and straight forward video and also gets the juices flowing for September!
At my age I'm sorted. Drifting from Chirundu to Mana is the place. Any rod will do. Barbel fillet drift bait. The trick to success is the company. So my mates from Ellis Robins from the day are good. Cooler box must be full. That's non negotiable. Mozi lager, ouzo and cream soda depending on the position of the sun. If the bait come off, it's not a train smash. The best part is just being there. Nice video. Hoping to be there in November. I'll try and take it seriously. 😂
Top video bud really informative 👍.... on my way to jozini tomorrow....I fish for tigers almost exactly as you have explained so rewarding catching them on artificials....however I get hit most on whopper plopper.... but hook up ratios are really terrible need to look into this coz they absolutely will not leave it alone ... once again good vid keep them coming dude!!!
Nice vid, as a kid who’s gone on many pre tiger tournament trips I can agree with everything he’s saying, you should also take a look at a bait runner for your live baits and I wonder if you’d get a better hook up ratio with a circle hook on an Afrijg, I’ll have to try and see if I can make one or try to something
i just started watching and this is amazing, i recently caught some nice tigerfish in the okavango delta. Later this year in june i will also be traveling to north-eastern zambia for an outreach and i hope to catch some more there.
Thank you for the valuable information. I've been trying to land a river here in Northern Zambia on lake Tanganyika but they keep spitting my lure. Hopefully with these tips I'll land one on the next trip. Can you do a video on how to catch a 20kg Tanganyika Perch 😅
great Video. Maybe I missed the Info, but need the fillet a movement or slow sinking to work, or take the Tigers the motionless fillets from the bottom too? (I'm from Europe, never fished for Tigers, so really no Idea;) )
I’ve found the Tempest Tiger Elite a bit too stiff. For slight more, the Assassin Infinity MH does great. Paired with a 4000 Stradic with 30lbs braid works well. With trolling heavier line is always better. Not so nice loosing an expensive Rapala Magnum that gets stuck on a rock or net.
If your in a boat after you cast let some more line go because the fish can feel the vibrations In the water (if there is a current) in still water cast as far as possible
@@GrumpyTinashe I think that the best and possibly cheapest places would be anywhere along the Zambezi and in kariba because the places in the lowveld are generally exclusive and expensive so hard to get a chance to fish and also kariba and the zambezi generally have larger fish anyway
Hahaaaaaaaaaa the right handed reelers ...............so stupid reel left and hold the rod with your stronger right hand if u are right handed .............................

Thanks for all your great vids. I’d love to see you guys have a go at fly fishing for tiger fish! 💪
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video, there should be a video about flying fishing for tiger coming out soon on the channel
Hi nice video how does tiger fish taste, do you normally throw back or take some home. Curious to know if the taste is similar to Bass fish.
No they are very bony fish, we normally release them
awesome video mate!!
Thanks!
Good presentation young man!
thanks!

I 100% agree! The company you take with you and the sights and the sounds are what its really about.
Good informative video, well prevented. Thanks keep them coming

Great video Josh!
Thanks Munene!
Really great video, i hope to fish lower Zambezi in February

Told you he says Afri Jigs, now who loves them😂
Thanks glad you enjoyed.
When are you doing to jozini dam that's my local dam but I haven't found good spots to fish on so I settle for pongola river after the wall
Wow getting a hit on a whopper plopper from a tigerfish seems like a dream. Over here where I live I can't even catch a pike 😂
Nice 👍🏼where you filming and fishing from?
Malilangwe dam south east zimbabwe
What do you find is the best technique with the Afri Jig?
Retrieve with twitches, but really depends on how the fish are feeding on that particular day.

18:40, where's that promise? I see nothing in the description 😢
Shimano Calqutta 201dc+st croix lec 76 - is it a good combo for Tiger?
It should work.
A 200 would handle these fish for sure?
7'2" - 7'9" Shimano/g.loomis swim jig rod with a Shimano curado 150,200 &. Shimano Scorpion
Thanks, it helps a lot..
Glad it helped

Great job young man, thank you
What are their spawning temperaments like compared to Goliath snakehead guarding their fry? Do they stay with their fry ?
Epic Joshua
Love ur content
Hey there...which knot do you use to tie piano wire to swivel and to clip.
It’s called a haywire twist

@ThisisAfricaOutdoors you are very welcome. The fishing is excellent

Throwing beefed up heavy wire buzzbaits for these would be insane. Also plop baits like the Joe Bucher top raider, I can only imagine
Could you try do the same video for different species maybe bream and vundu
Excellent thank u.
good video. thanks
thx from zambia lusaka

Dankie bra
Nice bro
Thanks
Does anyone know if the Manyame/Hunyani River have tiger fish
How about Lake Chivero, Darwendale, Bori or Mazvikadei dams?
Thanks
I don't think any of them have tigers in them but they do have some good bass
There aren't many tiger spots close to Harare you'd have to get north or into the lowveld
@@ethannolan-evans5490 Thanks sir. Where is your favourite fishing around Harare?
@@ethannolan-evans5490 noted. Is that the same with trout that's Nyanga is the only place

The upper Zambezi if fire I court a 17lb tiger
Awsome!
❤❤❤❤
Silver, our gold spoons that’s all you need bro,😂. if you cannot afford check mama’s kitchen put one hook in it, ready to go
This is just an advertising video, how sad.
Advertising what? 😂😂
