The hardest thing to believe about these types of movies is not the time travel or the aliens, but that a space program would let people like this crew within 100klm of a spaceship! Where did they find this crew anyway, a mental asylum day release program??
It is just so incredibly insulting to the professionalism of real life space explorers, and the intelligence of viewers of these movies. Things are allowed to go wrong in space without having to have a moron/s to catalyze events,,, it is allowed you know!

So my guess is you were expecting nerdy science people. Or bill Niel type the dorky.
These guys look like kids from the block who grew up in urban culture mostly from hard upbringings that went to college and got educated, and hustled their way in.

The same reason there are never people with common sense in horror movies. You hear the house you want to buy is on an Indian burial ground and the original owner died a horrific death after seeing so his friends and family die horribly? Dumbass who buys it, possibly entertaining. Guy who rolls his eyes at the listing and goes looking for a nice gently used house in a modern subdivision that at worst was built over an old landfill. Smart guy, boring film.

One complaint in regards to the accuracy of this film. The Earth of 4 billion years ago would not have been a blue planet but a green one. This is because the primordial oceans contained massive amounts of iron. This only changed after the emergence of cyanobacteria and the rise of oxygen as part of the atmosphere. Over time the amount of oxygen grew enough that the oceans then turned red due to the iron of the ocean literally being rusted out over the course of millions of years. Also it is likely the atmosphere would not have been a blue/white color due to the differences in the composition of atmospheric gases between the primordial Earth and the present day. Basically the Earth should look much more alien compared to today then what we get with the few FX shots we get in the film.

Steven is a terrible Captain. Instantly blames the engineer for something he percieves as incomptence when they are using tech they DO NOT UNDERSTAND, they could have used it wrong, it could have malfunctioned, anything could have happened. And yet he instantly blames the engineer and relieves him of duty. Like, atleast go to the engine and see if it's damaged or anything first. Oh, then he ignores the extremely low chance that the engineer kileld himself and is stoic on his opinion, even when someone who knew the engineer deeply said, that it's extremely unlikely and not at all like how he'd act. Is it just me ? Or is every movie that is being made about humanity in the future about death and destruction and apocalyptic scenario's.
There are no movies made about humanity conquering greed, racial devitions, poverty, and have created a paradise for themselves and the world around them

and thats the entire issue i have with this mindset of movies and in real life... why send it to another planet ... if it can terraform a planet.. then get everyone on the moon for a bit and lol just terraform the earth.. duh Even Neil D Tyson said it.. if we can terraform another planet we will just instead redo earth.
