Byf's Warlock...i can just imagine him sitting in the Tower, groups of Guardians surrounding him as he tells the stories of the great battles they've won...some they've lost. And many others yet to come. I can see him as a teacher. The stories of Saint 14 told in great detail to the young children within the tower, to give them courage. The stories of the Darkness to educate the Guardians on what they stand for. Eventually, he would tell of the oncoming storm. We must face it. Fallen, Hive, Vex, Cabal, Taken...the ones who lead them.
he needs to be a vendor a the tower or even better at the farm. Sitting next to a campfire just having his videos available to listen to for some glimmer
He'd get kicked out of the tower for talking about the darkess in any way but completely negative, same for the hive and the like. Education is considered dangerous blasphemy which is why all of the experts on those subjects always get stuck hanging out on some backwaters planet until shit is hitting the fan.
@@TheMightyBattleSquid I disagree. Maybe labeled as crazy, but he hasn't really spoken heresy. He talks about the crimes of humanity's enemies and why they fear the Darkness and follow the Light. The Vanguard, at worst, would call him crazy, but keep him around to remind people why they fight.
+Conor Burke but don't hunters wear the spine and skull of the creature you speak of and keep the scale of said beast as an artifact...in his/her pocket.

Because there is an awesome lore behind these characters but if it's not shown in game it doesn't matter, those characters won't mean anything when you kill them if they're just a boss when they could play a major role in telling the story of the world of Destiny. So much wasted potential.
+Mike Ford Then they shouldn't have rushed the initial release and the following expansions. It's not the consumer's issue to worry about the developers budget. If they tried to make a game bigger than they could manage they should be critiqued as such.
the book of sorrows is my favorite story ark in the lore of destiny its so inmersive and interesting, seeing it like this makes me so happy and hyped for the next part, keep it up byf, you and your team are doing an outstanding job
He is so good at making the story more tangible. I've already read 47 of the 50 books of sorrows but it is really confusing and I have missed a lot of things. Well done my name is byf, I hope that rise of iron doesn't stop you from finishing the series
I love the books of sorrow, anyone who hates on the lore of destiny has never seen the light of a proper lore story or gazed upon the promise of one, I feel bad for them, they will abandon the destiny universe knowing nothing but what they don't
Man Byf, it must be said that a giant part of the reason I got back into Destiny after vanilla D1 days is your presentation and enthusiasm. Destiny has come a long way since “I don’t even have time to explain why I don’t have time to explain” and the fact you give giant lore junkies like me a digestible and VERY high quality synopsis of an admittedly compelling and nuanced universe is so appreciated. Wishing you all the best from across the pond, thank you for what you bring to the Destiny community. 🤘🏼
Why do people like you act like Destiny is the first and only game to ever have lore told outsidd the game? Ever heard of Halo? Dragon Age? Mass Effect?Wow?Guild Wars? This isnt a new concept.Traveller forbid you have to actually read and not have everything told to you in a cutscene.
+meandmyfriends999 it's not the fact that there is lore outside of the game, it's the fact that it is never told in-game. Games like mass effect and especially halo, tell the lore and story in the game properly
+bdcbenjie You ever think that's the point. We are woken up by our ghost into a world that's strange and unfamiliar. Very little to almost no knowledge of previous events. It's a form of story telling. It's a reverse cliffhanger.
+meandmyfriends999 A better example of what Bungie seems to be going for with Destiny is the Souls franchise by From Software. Those games all feature very interesting settings and lore; however almost none of it is brought up directly in the games' storylines, via interactions with characters, or even available to read in an obvious way like lore books in the Elder Scrolls series or the Codex encyclopedia from Mass Effect. Instead it is all hidden away in small fragments through item descriptions, environmental storytelling, and fan conjecture derived from attempting to piece everything together. It seems like at some point they wanted to have a Mass Effect style codex with the Grimoire Cards, as can be seen in early concepts for Destiny's UI and menus, but later on decided aping how the Souls games handle lore was be the way to go. I think either would be fine honestly but if they want to keep going the Souls route they need to beef up item descriptions and deliver more information directly through those. Or maybe replace Dead Ghosts with special unique artifacts, which display the text of the Grimoire card assigned to them when inspected.
Dude I read the Books of Sorrow, but my god man do you make it amazing sit through it again. You really are an amazing story teller. The art you also have going along side it is fantastic, tell those artists you are working with that they are doing an incredible job. Please upload part 3 soon.
Or you could go to Bungie.net and read the cards yourself.(sorry if that sounded mean, I didn't mean for it to if it did.) but I also like hearing other people read the grimoire to me, partially because I'm lazy, and because I would get bored in like two minutes.
SplatSplasher Well the argument against that is that Bungie should have just included the story in the game like literally most games. I had to go online and read read the grimoire myself, and I still disagree with how Bungie is handling this. It's even more pathetic how many people they actually wrapped around their finger.
