    🎨 In this DIY tutorial, I'll share my creative process to create a custom Monet-inspired kitchen tile. If you've wondered why I'm not using a stenci for my tile DIY I'll answer that today in this video about how to paint your own kitchen tiles. (Well, I AM using a stencil, but not for painting) If you ever need French country kitchen decorating ideas, of course, be a part of my Old World Design Society (the first week is FREE to see if you like it) and visit Claude Monet's house and gardens - Giverny for his vibrant French kitchen style. DIY tile painting/DIY tile art is easier than you think, though you'll see my process is rather painstaking to get the look that I want. In today's video, through my voice over I tried to answer all the questions I've received over the last few days about this tile.

    Beautiful video Angela. I’ve been to Monet’s home and adore it as well, but don’t have the patience you have!! Your tiles are gorgeous! On a side note, if you could figure out a way to put those green shutters on your home, you’d have a dead ringer! ❤I always look forward to your videos!

    If you are not using a clay friendly paint/glaze, that means these are not being fired...am I right in assuming this? I am sure you have done all the research on this - you must expect the surface paint to withstand the test of time. Please share your thoughts on this for those who may consider doing it in their own spaces...thanks 🙂

    • @ParisienneFarmgirl

      Hi there - Be sure to check out last weeks blog posts of previous kitchens (paint lasted well over ten years) and the most recent post which lists the directions for this technique (as does a previous video ua-cam.com/video/mHgaBO6_D_w/v-deo.html). This is glass paint which works on a previously fired surface when properly dried and then fired in a home kitchen oven. But the paint I've linked in the blog is the only one I can recommend, others have not withstood the grit of the grout when washing the residual grout away.

    • @kathryngipson6866
      @kathryngipson6866 7 місяців тому

      Thanks for the explanation - a glass paint, oven baked! Did your tiles have any glaze (matte or glossy) before you did your embellishment? thanks@@ParisienneFarmgirl

    Hello Angela, Your idea to complete that one section is fantastic. Will we see yellow 💛 in your kitchen? I love my butter yellow room with chinoiserie accents and bedding; the colors make me calm and happy all at once. Julie 🌷

    So happy you are going to go ahead and start the wall! Maybe consider painting 7 extra….dated and personalized…one for each child to take for a coaster when they move someday and 1 for you and Joel just incase you decide to move someday. So much love put into this project.

    You've set yourself quite the task. You might choose to schedule time in your calendar every week, if you haven't already, to paint what you can it will be so satisfying to see the completed tiles stacking up. Meanwhile, installing Andrea now will be a big motivation to finish. Enjoy the process!

I am soooo excited for you! And honestly, I’m excited for us, too, because I am excited to see the finished project in 2025? 2026? Whatever it ends up being, I’ve no doubt it will be worth the wait. Both are the same brand and the same product. The pens are blunt or fine tip pens of the same paint that you then see me paint with a brush. The brush gives it the handpainted, imperfect, brushstroked look that I want.

    😮💋😍 I'm truly in awe of you! Your talent and your perseverance. I so often think of a quick comment made by Joel several years ago...possibly during an early kitchen demo. He said people asked him how he could stay home & not have to go to work every day. His response was basically, "get yourself an Angela, and you can stay home, too!" 😂 He's a great partner for your amazing creative talent...even replacing "perfectly good door" for you! As a side note, I've got that fruit fabric in my stash....😊 I'll have to find it now.
