This looks like a job that isn’t a job at all! More like joyful creativity! Beautiful & inspiring.
lampshades are such underrated pieces of decor! thank you for this lovely lesson 💚
I’m sitting between a pair of custom marbled paper shades Rosi made for me, so lovely to see how they were constructed!
@icecookie786 And THAT, is the big question. My question as well, actually...
Such a simplistic yet beautiful fun touch to add to one’s home.
And they just darling, and a snip at £180, so one could change the look quite regularly
Loved all those pretty lampshades! The lesson was well delivered and looks like a lot of fun to do.
I'm on my way to making two lampshades to suit gorgeous vintage lamps I just thrifted. Thank you Rosi!
This was just spot on. Thank you for the lesson.
Loved the lesson, very easy to learn and lots of information. Thank you!!
Absolutely beautiful!!! This lady is beautiful, talented, and she brought her business to a high level!!! Well done, you did an awesome job !!
It really encouraged when you mentioned that you started when your kids were young because I am in the same situation now..
It is never to late as well. I am in my 60s and only started working on creative projects in my 60s.
@@CharlotteFairchild wowww…🤩🤩🙌🏼❤️🤗🙏🏻 Thank you for taking time to message me! This message really encourages me!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
I keep revisiting this video, and finding inspiration for a little more daring lamps around the house. I love how she combines the pattern, color of the lamp base and trim.
When one stumbles upon one making lampshades. Ruah.
She made it look so easy! 🙌
Beautiful lampshades. It's a delight to watch someone that makes her craft look effortless!
I loved the video, what a talent she is.
Could you please list the materials you use such as the sticky substrate and glue, etc? That would be very helpful. These are really awesome. I'd love to just try.
The glue that she uses may be called "Nori Paste" it is a rice glue that dries absolutely clear. I've used it many times while making lamps with shoji paper.
So kind of you to share the knowledge!
Love it! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work.
Thank you so much for showing us your knowledge. Your lampshades are beautiful.
Beautiful and co creative! Have you considered, when getting to the long seem that goes down along the height of the shade, using magnets on both sides of the seem to temporarily clamp them together while the glue dries? Might be a bit of a time saver... Lovely works of art!
Thank you for this, lampshades are so important to get right in a room. It's not as simple as it looks I would imagine.
Gosh, I love table lamps.
The shades are so fresh and beautiful.
So pretty and the patterns are beautiful!
Neat! Makes it look easy but requires dexterity. Brava!
love all Rosi de Ruig creates lampshades so cute and beautiful
😃 Bravo on you, Madam! Basically the dream life of all good nurturing mothers wanting to stay longer with her baby/babies, while growing up, without stop working to provide for them and or being a financial burden for the dad 🙃 Also big thanks for sharing your precious tips, massively appreciated 🙂
I just love her lamps
I would like to record my great admiration for these wonderful works of art. I am from Egypt, and my work is in papyrus, which is made of papyrus, the oldest paper in history. I love handicrafts, and I will try to make one out of papyrus.all my apprecition and respect for your wonderful art works
Such a great tutorial. I have been wanting to do two of mine. This really helped. I want one pleated, have to look at more of your posts. Thank you. Subscribed and hit the 🛎

Absolutely stunning!
Beautiful!
Thank you for the demonstration. :)
Thank you very much ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so very much for the time.......
Wonderful lampshades 👌👌👌
I truly don’t understand how this has been instructive if it’s not explained how to make your template to begin with. 🤷♀️
Yeah, this video isn’t a DIY. She’s just showing some parts of the process. It’s her business, I guess she doesn’t want to share more details. It’s more a video to promote her business than a diy 😅
I concur! If it’s just an infomercial, then the “Master Class” title is more than tad misleading.
It’s kind of self explanatory. You can buy a lamp shade pattern or you can use a lamp you already have to make one. But if you have all the parts your good to go
You can use an existing shade in the shape/size you want, to make a pattern. Sailrite has a couple of good videos showing how to use your existing shade to do that. Just exchange the fabric in their tutorial for the “Stick-It” (adhesive lamp shade backing pvc) she begins with here, leaving out the seam allowance (you will add a seam allowance when you get to the paper cover, as she demonstrates here, and while she doesn’t give you her seam allowance, you might want 1/2” on top and bottom). The rest of her steps walk you through. Hope that helps 😊
@@HomeandSanctuary I’ve been making lampshades for years… It’s very challenging when you have to use another Lampshade and create your own template. Just a sliver of an inch off and you’ve got a wonky hanging shade. a true template is the only way to go, unless you’re doing a drum shade. They’re super easy.
So very inspiring! Such joyful lams =)
Love love love this. 💚
How did you make the template? What exactly is the sticky that you attach the paper too?
Seu trabalho é maravilhoso. Obrigado!
Lovely lampeshedes, easy to do thx for démonstration
Great video, BUT, where do you get the sticky backed paper for the lampshade pattern? Where do you get the beautiful big sheets of paper? Where do you get the thin double-sided sticky tape????
@Laura Pallas You can find all of the lampshade making materials, including the lampshade making PVC (plastic panel) double-sided tapes and frames at Dannells.com. We have them in kit format or you can create your own shape and size of lampshade with our range of products!
Thank you for sharing ❣
I really like your lampshade's 🍂
Good work, interesting to look at.
i watched the beginning 3 times and still dont have a clue as to what the "sticky" attatchment is that the paper is rolled on?
Brilliant! Lovely! 🥰
❤
It’s beautiful but it’s paper?! Is this durable?!
great lesson!
Lampshades are an art form.
Classy.
I decoupage napkins on lampshades. I use Mackenzie-Childs napkins.
where does she get those beautiful papers from?
Love your work is beautiful. I would like to learnt how to make the lampshades. Some one did your metal frames or you buy them? Your class is very good. Thanks 😊 ❤❤❤❤
Love this. Thank you for the demo! Do you ever use fabric instead of paper?
Lovely
lovely!
Great video! Where can one buy the 'Stick It' cut outs? Thanks
Any tips on where to get supplies? The sticky paper & frames? Also the lamps. Thank you!
I’ve found the wire frames on Amazon but wondering about the tape and the sticky paper
I was going to ask the same thing, I see the adhesive paper is called “stick it” but I can only find it in small sheets, not rolls
So, as far as the template goes, is this the rigid pvc or plastic-like self stick lampshade rolls?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
you've attached it to what base?
Where can you find the sticky back paper?
Has anyone in the Netherlands tried to find the self adhesive backing paper? I think the brand in this video is Stickit but I can’t find it outside of the U.K. I’d love to find it in NL or something similar.
Thank you for this, I’d love to make a bespoke shade with paper I’ve been hoarding. Can I ask please, where or how do I get the initial template and what is the red tape you use? Thank you 😊
I think you can get everything you need from Amazon. (I attended a lampshade making workshop last year & l'm sure our teacher said this). 🙂
Rosi de Ruig has a very Dutch name. De means the and Ruig means rough. Regards from the Netherlands.

Where can I purchase a selection of papers?
Hi do you sell the tape and tucking in tool?
No guidance on how to make the pattern which I would think is the whole point of a master class.
I can't find the sticky plastic, there's any alternative to it?
Niceee
One would love to know suppliers of ones materials
One would think one might deign to include this information for everyone in one's masterclass. At least one could only hope. Not to offend one; or anyone, but it seems that everyone just wants to know.... one. ;)
@@pwnoforpyros So far, I have not seen where she has replied to anyone's questions. I want to know the glue used
Could you give me a site to get the chandelier bulb clamp that goes inside the smallest lampshade for a crowded 12 lite antique chandelier, the metal rings the clamps for the bulbs ❤, please and thankyou
What kind of paper is best?
What is that sticky sheet that you applied the art paper on? Thanks
Mon abat jour est froissé lors d un transport comment faire pour réparer ?
What cardstock is she using?
What is the glue used?
Where can those lampshade shapes are available and how to purchase plse tell
What is that white self adhesive sheet ?
Which tape you used to stick paper to ring
And what is the solid basis of the paper? What is the name of? )
What double sided tape do you recommend?
Does anyone know what type of tape she uses?
@RebeccaWhite30 The double sided tape that Rosi uses in the video is available form our website Dannells.com, along with many other lampshade making materials and supplies including the PVC panels and the rings from the video. Hope that helps. Good luck with your lampsahde making 😊
Which type of paper is used??
HELLO PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME OUT. FIRSTLY IM PARTIALLY BLIND SORRY LARGE TEXT. PLEASW CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT IS THE NAME FOR THE METAL PIECE IN THE CENTRE WHICH HOLDS THE SHADE AND BULB.?? ITS DRIVING ME INSANE. I WANTED TO TRY ONE OF YOUR IDEAS, WHICH MAY I ADD ARE SIMPLY WONDERFULL. THANK YOU
🙂
can one lol!
Is that wallpaper?
I missed the name of the lining
Why doesn’t it start out instructing how to measure? It’s a bit maddening. I have made a lot of lampshades, and the only ones I opt to do on purpose or drum shades because if I don’t have a template for a Cooley type, it’s near impossible.
Where do you get the curved glue paper?
@D.L L. The lampshade making PVC that Rosi uses in the video (Stick It) is available from our website Dannells.com along with any other lampshade making supplies including the doubles sided red tape and a wide range of lampshade making frames and rings 👍
@@NeedcraftCoUk1 THANK YOU! Finally someone with some useful information here so the viewers can actually attempt to mke a shade!
Useful video, thanks!
The masterclass(?) was rushed, and for a beginner it was difficult to actually see what Rosi was doing, especially when she applied the glue to the trim. Furthermore, it would have been helpful to know what kind of glue to use to adhere fabric to paper. I'm guessing it may be PVA?
Guys we need to start buying local. Why made in China? Local for a trillion reasons! 🥰
I’m curious about the economics of this, how many workers does she have making shades per hour? Is she literally making every single shade? What’s her overhead, profit margin, etc? I think small scale crafts businesses are hard to truly make a living off of unless you’re charging a lot per item. there’s a reason why so much manufacturing is outsourced or mechanized. The cost of labor and how much output is a huge hurdle. The design side is glamorous but the efficiency of the repetitive manufacturing side when scaling up is where money is made 🤷🏻♀️

che cosa è quella carta appiccicosa''
Looks simple but if you haven't done this before it can be a little maddening. Are you good at wrapping presents, if you are, you're gonna do fine. If not, just imagine what it'll be like. You'r basically wrapping a convex present. A seamstress will also be the right brain for this.
I know...I wish I were elegant like her but in reality it would just be me swearing like a sailor cursing the whole project, haha!
I Found it fiddly and you do have to focus. Totally worth it though! 😀
Left is itching. Lol
There are many different shaped lamp shades. Also alternative different materials. I buy old lampshades around £3.00 each to revamp. ♥️
@@fullofhope6978 hey there , sounds like you tried your hand at this... if you're from the states..where did you find supplies? If you don't mind sharing ..
