    I get you! You've gotta learn how to dress if you are going to enjoy the winter in Boise, Idaho! What are your other questions about how to dress to stay warm here?

      We have lots of family there already and we visit quite a bit. We love it! Took a couple times in the cold to get it. Oh! layers! 🤔
      Thx for all the great videos! I've been following you for a year or so and have referred several friends.

      We don't have to deal much with ice where we live. Are any of the soles of certain shoes/boots better for not slipping on icy pavement or stairs?

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  5 місяців тому

      @@jedwin4816 Yes! Anything with a rubber sold that has lots of traction. But ice is ice and is slippery with anything - they do make little crampons for the bottom of shoes that are helpful if you are going to be walking when it is particularly icey, but that would not be often.

    Fantastic video Summer! I have a couple more additions for those kind of people who actually read the comments. I have some battery operated handwarmers that you can recharge. They’re very handy. I got a pair for my wife as well. Yes they come in pink. I think I got them on Amazon.
    Also, I have some flannel lined jeans that I got at D&B supply. Those are really great and I like to wear those in the winter time when it’s really cold. And I love the cold.

      Thank you for watching and commenting! I like the flannel or fleece lined pants as well sometimes. I haven't tried the handwarmers! I know there are battery operated heated jackets, vests, etc.. usually I am outside doing activity so I just need a few layers, but those extra warmers would be great for if you are going to be sitting outside awhile for football games or other events!

    Great video, THANK YOU! I would also recommend the down coats at Lands End. They have a big variety of styles for women, men & kids. I’ve had my LE down puffer coat for 14 years and still keeps me warm! Although I plan to get a new one in a longer length. A little pricey but worth it! Their down coats are lightweight yet warm. I also like fleece lined boots, they keep your feet warm. 👍🏼🥶 🧥 🥾❄️⛄️

      Thanks for watching and commenting! You are right! Anyone thinking of moving here reading this needs to know that they cannot skimp on the warm weather clothing! It has to be good quality or you will get cold and be unhappy! I like the fleece lined boots too!

    Appreciate all your videos. For a real game changer… get an electric heating vest. You’re in Idaho, so a vest is a staple anyway, so you may as well make it one that works for every weather and with every outfit.

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes that is a great idea! I haven't tried any of the electric heating items yet. But that would be especially helpful if you were sitting outside at football games or going to some activities like the Winter Garden or the Indian Creek Christmas Lights or doing some winter camping/hunting.

    Thank you for this info, Summer. 👍👍👍As retirees, we plan to spend more time indoors during winter, but when we need to go outside, this information will serve us well. We're fortunate to have a number of indoor interests. We can save outdoor activities for when the weather is warmer. My wife is an avid crochet hobbyist, so I can really see a lot of indoor and outdoor uses during winter for the crochet items she makes.

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  5 місяців тому +1

      That is a good point. Not everyone needs to be outside and there are plenty of indoor hobbies. I do appreciate that we don't need to do yard work, and there can be feeling of a bit of "rest" for the winters here as opposed to warmer climates. I would suggest that you make sure you purchase a home that has your family room/kitchen areas with south facing windows. Then you will have plenty of light indoors in the winter. Our first house had north facing family room/kitchen and it was cold and dreary in the winter.

    • @audiophileman7047
      @audiophileman7047 5 місяців тому

      Sounds like a good idea to have the South facing family room/kitchen to receive more light. We'd like it at the back of the house for gardening. Perhaps the only drawback would be snow accumulation in the front of the house, if it doesn't face the South.@@SummerAstonRealEstate

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  5 місяців тому +1

      @@audiophileman7047 That is true. But we are also gardeners and the south backyard is the best. I'd rather have light in my house in the winter and good gardening in the summer and deal with shoveling the driveway more often than a clear driveway from the sun but a cold and dark family room!

    • @audiophileman7047
      @audiophileman7047 5 місяців тому

      Well said. I guess it's a matter of priorities. We'll have to see what's more important to us. I suspect it will be South facing for the reasons you mentioned. Typically it doesn't snow that much there anyway and there isn't any snow for a good part of the year.@@SummerAstonRealEstate

    Very helpful information to protect against cold weather. I have been to Boise once, it’s a beautiful city, and great people live in Boise. It is very expensive and congested where I live, San Fransisco Bay Area. The prices are high in many states these days, due to higher incomes and higher demand.

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes Boise is great. Hopefully you can make it here again sometime! But as I commented to another viewer... I think some of my coldest memories are when, as a kid, we'd go from Sacramento over to SF and it was always so foggy and cold!! I'm sure I wasn't dressed properly 😂 but when I think of SF, I think of cold, gray fog that is damp down to my bones.

  • @Special_Agent_Ragnar

    We’re leaving the mild weather of commiefornia. The unsustainable costs, crime, politics and overall crappy demeanor of the Bay Area people, make the little bit of weather discomfort of the treasure valley pale in comparison.. We’re out of here soon!
    As a Christian, conservative, firearm business owning family, we’re certainly a fish family out of water here.
    Nothing better than to see CA in the rear view mirror! 👋

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  5 місяців тому +1

      It's true - it's not worth it to go back over a little cold weather, plus the 4 seasons are spectacular. Fall especially. And you don't have to do yard work here for 5 months of the year :) . And honestly, some of my coldest memories are when we've visited the Bay Area when I was a kid living in Sacramento. I am sure I did not have the right clothes, but that northern CA damp fog and cold goes deep into the bones...brrr!

      Hope you call on Summer if you are looking to buy! We left the insanity of California a couple of years ago and Summerbis amazing!!!! We owned quite a lot of different properties in Cali, and summer is hands down the best realtor we’ve ever had. You might look in Eagle. A great place to live! We worship at ECC ( Eagle Christian church) but there are some great churches here. What a fun adventure you will be on!!!
