    Caught a rec over valuing his hands other day i.e. huge bets w top pair, some two pairs, middling str8's and flushes. I had to wait several hours but finally stacked him. 3rd place in a 150 buy in 84 players. I adjusted my small blind play using Jonathan's coaching, very good results. Thanks Jonathan!

    I used to hate playing loose aggressive players but now I quite enjoy playing them and embrace the variance they bring to the tables. You have to tweak your ranges to exploit theirs, be prepared to call down a bit thinner than usual as they have so much junk in their range. Great stuff as always Jonathan.

    Thanks for the video! One recommendation would be to use 100BB examples (minimum) so that cash players can also benefit. In the cash games that I play people know better than to play 40 BB deep.

    that’s interesting I (compsci dropout) was talking to my friend (working really good comp scientist/engineer) about usimg hand histories compared w gto to make some kind of hybrid machine learning bot that would teach u how to play max EV given certain stake levels’ common mistakes. He didn’t think it would be possible (imo bc he was thinking about poker more like chess or league of legends or something) but this kind of vindicates me. Now if only i could afford millions of online hand histories and consistent solver use…

      You have to adjust your strategy. If I've played some hands too loose and the table saw it, I will tighten up for a bit. The hope is that I play a little tighter and catch a monster while my image is still "loose".

    I fell into this “aggressive” play style my last cash game where I noticed everyone at the table limping in out of position. I started experimenting with a 3 bet sizing that would induce folds. It worked for a couple of hands. Mind you my range was tight and I got good cards preflop and hit post flop. I got a showdown or two and won. All good, then I continued this strategy for too long. My hands preflop were still great and I continued 3 betting every time. They started calling and I started missing the flop, and before I new it I was bleeding too much money preflop and folding too many hands on the turn and river because they would just check call 3-4 ways into the flop. I know this sounds like a beginner mistake but what adjustment can I make? Should I continue 3 betting on every good preflop hand (tight range) especially if it’s a streak of good cards?

    • @KentJ

      Sounds like you need to raise higher to prevent 3 people from seeing a flop. Massive drop in equity when it’s a multi way flop

      I like to change up anyway so people can't guess what I am doing anyway... But changing up for a orbit or two where they see you change up then go back to it .... Most players always play the same... They will go back to what they know(without even noticing they are doing it). Then change back.

    I always pay to see their cards if I think they are bluffing a lot... As long as it's small enough for the information.... Then muck my cards if I lose. It's good to know sometimes they bluff way to much.

    • @dawnkeener9836
      @dawnkeener9836 Рік тому

      I'm always one who doesn't care if they know my cards however if I see this going on I don't show my cards anymore that night. Anyone who knows me knows that I change up quite a bit anyway... However if they see me not showing anymore they also know that I think someone is bluffing way to much... lmao then they start looking who it is.

  • @MikeLeeSr
    @MikeLeeSr Рік тому +1

    My actions are so player and player type dependant. Over bets on river from a good capable player who will find bluffs is different from a nut peddling nit. Fold very good hands vs the latter and call with ace high vs some capable players. To me that's the 2nd funnest thing about poker is playing players in combination with fundemental poker . The 1st funnest is making money.

    my strategy is bring some extra buy ins and out-bluff them, then after i get stacked and they realize im bluffing with air, they'll call me next time i shove with trip aces, then suck me out with a runner runner. the third buy in is where the high iq mind games begin

    “People won’t consistently outdraw you. That’s not how math works.”
    Until that actually happens. Then the coaches will start screaming about variance. It may not happen that much in the games professionals play.
    But in the small live stakes and micro stakes online, it happens a lot more than they say it does. But they have an answer for everything, and that answer is variance. 🙄
    Why do I care that the player who is always drawing out on me won’t keep that up if he passes me out consistently? By the time variance swings the other way I’m already broke at the cash table or out of the tournament and can’t capitalize.
    Some people are just too unlucky to play. They can be good, but they don’t catch the brakes that they need when they need it and they can never become winning players. We have all seen players with more luck than brains, and they consistently get lucky over long periods of time. 🤷🏻‍♂️
